I live in a very well to do neighborhood and unfortunately, these guys will look up house values and charge accordingly so while some neighborhoods will get $10k decks, not mine. If I was living in DC suburbs then they'd charge us $50k for the deck. I got the PVC Aztek material with metal posts. The guys did the job in 2 days. I was worried when I saw scuffs on my new deck the day after install, but Luke came to buff them out. With Aztek, you have to be very careful about scratching the deck with furniture so I've yet to put anything on my deck! We rarely eat out there anyways. We're not outdoorsy people.

EG Rall just "completed" a small backyard renovation in Norristown. I use quotes because only EG…read moreRall thinks they did a complete job. So, not inexpensive (over $20,000 for a small backyard). But very basic stuff - build a wooden fence with a gate, remove concrete and replace with pavers, build a couple of raised beds and get some good topsoil down and plant grass. Materials for the fence were damages in dozens of places. they replaced a few after we insisted. They could not install a gate that was in alignment with the fence (just couldn't figure out how to do it like it was the first time they ever did but they did many things like it was the first time they ever did it). They asked us on multiple occasions how we would do it. We had to point out to them the inconsistent and poor job they did with the pavers. The raised beds were not what was requested. They made them from railroad ties in a way that makes in impossible to stand on the grass and reach across the bed. The top soil they used for the lawn and the beds was very poor quality. We picked up dozens or 2-3 inch stones in both. In other words the company either has a very low standard for quality or they do not have process to check on the quality of their materials or workmanship (or they do not care). To install the pavers they jackhammered concrete close to the house causing such damage that the basement now leaks and had to be remediated by a waterproofing company at a cost of $3100. They were asked to build a fence to enclose the entire back yard for privacy purposes and because we have a dog. They left about 10 feet of the back yard unfenced which means a dog cannot be left there. We will have to pay someone else to complete the fence since Rall refused to do it. The total job should have take maybe 3 weeks. It took them three months. Above and beyond the poor materials and amateurish work they don't listen to the customer, try to explain away poor workmanship and just down right goofy decisions (on which they do not consult the customer so there are constant surprises) as "that is just the way it is done". Not sure how Eugene has stayed in business this long between poor delivery and poor customer relationship. I would encourage anyone looking for landscaping of any type to avoid this company. There are dozens of other companies that do the same thing and it is hard to see how another company could have done as poor a job as EG Rall. So, Eugene readily admits to all the problems when confronted with them. They never did fix the gate that was not installed in a straight line with the fence because we could just not trust them not to make it worse. For all that Rall offered to reduce the price by less than 1%. Since I am an honorable person I will pay Eugene the full amount and not insult him as he has done me with his offer to reduce the price by less than 1%. Lowest I can go is a 1 rating but zero would be a more accurate assessment of this company's capabilities and attitude.
