Let me begin by saying that this location has moved from 831 Rosedale Ave Bronx NY 10473. The original location was inside the Western Beef Supermarket building.
Located in the same strip mall, they have moved several doors down to 845 Sound View Ave where the Kee Hing Chinese restaurant used to be. To avoid confusion it sits between Hot Millz Deli and a barber shop which took over the old Ray Lee Hair Salon.
Public parking is available in the parking lot right in front of the location.
Now Let's Get Down To Business! (why they earn a 3.5-4 rating)
FOOD, PORTIONS & PRICING
I do find their food to be both tasty and flawed.
FOOD (the good part)
Their menu has been updated and some dishes improved from their former location (less greasy meat dishes) At one time, I would only go for their breakfast specials or empanadas.
$5.00 lunch specials are a great value for an individual!
You have options of yellow rice or white
Mini Combos added to the new menu are a better value at $9-$10 for a filling, sizable portion which can be shared by 2 in a pinch.
-example- Half Chicken w Rice & Beans or Plaintain with your choice of canned soda or bottled water. If alone...expect leftovers!
The food, in general, is usually cooked well and looks appealing. Prices and portions are good values for most menu items.
FOOD (the bad & the ugly)
Although their seafood salad was a very small portion for $8, it appeared tempting. I got home and...The seafood salad was THE worst I've ever had! It reminded me of Salt & Vinegar potato chips.
After the 3rd attempt to find something redeeming about it, I was good and pissed off! Not ONE of my cats wanted anything to do with it either.
After all, I had just paid almost the same price for a mini combo for a palm-sized container of seafood vinegar brine! I had just spent $50 there so that kinda made me want to take it ALL back to them.
Helpful Tips:
When buying combo meals (Use the words "a little more meat gravy over the meat/rice " because if you ask for EXTRA gravy...you'll get a little more...but for a price.)
The chicken can be underseasoned or dry so ask for some type of meat gravy. The same for the rice because the portion of beans are usually packed separately and will not offer enough lubrication regardless of how tasty they are.
For the Pernil (pork shoulder) try asking them for lime slices to step up the flavor
The baked salmon in the mini combo that can feed 2 people seems to be 2 pieces that are each about the size of the palm of a 5 yr old child. You'll have tons of rice etc left and just a hint of fish on your breath. (We no longer order it)
Depending on WHO makes your order you may not always get the same portions of meat. (be sure to watch as it's prepared for you if possible)
ATMOSPHERE & CLEANLINESS
When it's not lunch or dinner time slots this spot offers personalized courteous service. Rush hour times are awful in this tightly designed eatery.
This is definitely a grab and go spot! The rotisserie area, steam table, and dessert case are on your immediate right with 2 tables that are best suited for those lucky enough to sit and wait for their order.
Sitting to eat at the front entrance is NOT recommended unless you don't mind getting bumped by shopping bags, or worse having to ignore someone's butt aimed at your food if they bend down to point at the steam table glass to show the server what they'd like to order.
Further past the steam tables is a counter seating setup of about 4 stools. However...This is the same area where employees not only ring up orders for walk-in customers but for delivery orders as well.
This often results in the counter being used to line up delivery orders during packing or bottle-necking of customer traffic as you are forced to use a one-person walkway throughout the entire customer area.
The self serve soda fridge is directly across from the counter seating. I will say I have no complaints about the cleanliness of the place. Especially as the place truly is a busy spot.
STAFF & SERVICE
I have not received any deliveries from this place yet although they are signed with GrubHub. They do not have table waitresses, I have not been able to complete a meal at a table anyway for the reasons already mentioned.
I will fairly state that service at the location is ok. They remain polite even when language barriers occur. I have had issues where I did not receive eating utensils placed in my bag which would have REALLY ticked me off if I planned to go elsewhere instead of home.

THE BOTTOM LINE
I do recommend the place for quick and filling food with good variety and price values. Great for a quick bite when shopping at the strip mall.
Food servings and flavoring are not consistent but they are a polite staff with decent food. Parking is convenient and the location is near the BX5 and Bx 27 bus stops. read more
