*Hell yeah, I'm their 1st Yelp Review.. Word up*…read more 1st time I've eaten here. If you have seen my other reviews, I'm strict with a 5, as "5's" are perfect, and can't be improved on. Fried Catfish: 5/5. Nothing to improve on here.. Nothing like Mario's, but just as good. Less breading than Mario's. Then again, Mario's used to be better, though too. Fried Whiting: 4/5. Fries: 3/5. Skin on, crinkle-cut, tater tots, are all better, tastier options that stay crispier longer. Hushpuppies: 5/5. Damnnnn. Best puppies I've had in Vegas, by far.. Maybe ever! Red Rice: 4/5. Hard to make bad red rice, and they didn't here either. Presentation: 5/5. It's a cute food truck and the food comes out in normal food truck containers. Wait time was 20ish minutes after ordering, which isn't bad as long as it's not 120 degrees out. Accuracy of order: 3/5. I asked for the coleslaw to be replaced with extra puppies on both meals, saw him select that option on the iPad, but still ended up with coleslaw(coleslaw is just gross to even look at, haha), and no extra puppies. Value for what I received: 4/5. $30 after tip for 2 good meals. OVERALL: 4.0-4.5/5. I rounded up. Plus, the fried catfish is the main attraction here(for ME, at least), and it was very very tasty. Fur surely coming back when they're back in Henderson(or I'm on their side of town for some reason).. For reference, I USED to drive across town just for Mario's, until they raised their prices and the fish started tasting different(Also Mario's sides are VERY basic tasting).

My only suggestion would be to cut back on the salt! I'm not sure if it's salt or msg but cut back please. There are people with sensitive palettes and they will taste it. As an elite foodie I can taste almost every seasoning in a meal. The kool aid was ok but I never drank it growing up so I don't have anything to compare it too beside homemade ice tea. The greens are smokey but not spicy so I added my own seasoning which was nice. The Mac & cheese is very milky and salty they over seasoned. The orange sauce for the catfish is tad spicy reminds me of San Jose's orange sauce for mission burritos. I love the sauce. The corn bread is good old fashion corn bread. I defintely want to try this place again.

In all honesty, it seemed to be just regular mall food to me, nothing impressive and nothing horrible. We got the 2 meat combo with chicken wings and fish with 2 sides (beans and rice? And the Mac n cheese) which comes with... a sweet Hawaiian roll? Either way, the chicken wings needed more seasoning, but they were cooked well and the Hawaiian roll was just...nOt a soul food biscuit that's for sure. The Mac n cheese used real cheese...but for some reason the texture was super off/chunky/floury and there was hardly a taste. Maybe it was because it was later after night that we went? I don't know. What was good was the fish! Well seasoned and well cooked. The bean and rice were also well done to us. Buuuuut it better have been since it took a little over 20 minutes for it to come out. Overall, still good if you're hungry at the mall and have more than a 30 minute lunch, but definitely not worth seeking out for what they would call Soul Food.

I actually started it off planning on going to Lo Lo's but after waiting 20 minutes for an open bar seat, which I could visibly see, I decided to look for something else and that's when I checked the Yelp and up popped this food truck. It is located downtown by the courthouse and parking was a bit sketch but I was able to park in a 10 minute loading zone, jump out and order my food and boy am I glad I did. I ended up ordering the oxtail platter with two sides, which I got the mac & cheese and red beans and rice and then I also got a side of smoked turkey wings. Both meals were delectable! The portion size was enough that I'll probably drive home with half of it, which means all the way back to Arizona! Still, the popcorn photo means a lot, and I'll tell you why. Up by the register many local artisans are featured. I met the owner of the popcorn company when we sat side-by-side at a farmer's market in Henderson. He was talking about getting stores to carry his product. I recommended Mario's. And here he is. I love this so much. Plus my husband loves his half and half Chicago style popcorn. They were out of that, but I grabbed churro because that sounds yummy. But back to the deli- I made a bee line to the back of the store. I could smell the delicious flavors before I got halfway back. There is always a line. Embrace the line. That means it's good, and it is. I ducked down the pork rind aisle and found my place in line. I chatted with the other people in line while we waited. The fella behind me was getting catfish steaks, and they put out a beautiful new pan just as he stepped up. I was nervous. I didn't see any ribs. Mario's ribs are special. They are tender, juicy, fragrant, tangy and they just fall off the bone. I asked if they had any. They had about a pound left. I got that and a chicken quarter. They put them in a styrofoam box and before I knew it I was on my way. If I didn't just go to lunch with Gwyneth, I would have gotten the swai. Just a heads up- if you're not getting catfish steaks, you're getting swai. I love their swai, and mac and cheese, and greens, and cabbage, and yams, and banana pudding, and peach cobbler, but today I was going simple. Deli staff were super friendly and efficient. The cashier up front was kind when I was tapping my card to no avail. She tapped for me and I was out the door. If you are looking for some excellent comfort food, visit Mario's. They were just plain rude as though they were trying to pick a fight with me. I have been shopping there on and off since 1988. Today was the first time that I was treated so poorly. Totally unacceptable, unprofessional conduct by the two middle aged, female cashiers. The first cashier had two customers there ahead of me that she apparently knew because she kept talking to them while they were there inputting their payment information. Meanwhile the cashier is beginning to apparently ring up my purchases while the two were still there inputting their payment information. (I am wanting her to finish with them before starting my transaction but she doesn't). I noticed that the cashier had input "Deli" Department purchases on my frozen items. Should've been "Meat" Department. I politely questioned that. She got in her feelings about it. I asked her to void those entries and start over. She got really upset. Started flinging my purchases around so I told her I can go to another cashier. Her reply, "I don't care if you do"! I told her to just keep those items. And I went back to get replacement items and go to other cashier. The other cashier started out ok but devolved into "CRAZY" too. But I completed my transaction and left. As I was leaving, this second cashier went into some kind of frenzy flip off dance moves as if to flip me off. Mind you, these are both 50-60 ish year old women. I am SHAKING MY HEAD IN DISBELIEF. WTH? Both cashiers totally UNPROFESSIONAL. CONDUCT UNBECOMING. OUR BLACK CUSTOMERS DESERVE MUCH BETTER! I DOUBT VERY SERIOUSLY THAT THEY WOULD BEHAVE IN SUCH A MANNER IN OTHER PARTS OF THE CITY!
