Just try to contact them. They don't answer the phone and they don't return calls/messages. They ignore emails sent through their "contact us" form. I'm just trying to buy a gift certificate. They tell you to email them and then send the money but they don't contact you at all. Obviously they are very arrogant and comfortable in knowing Their position in the community and don't care about Custimer relationships. I would travel out of my way to not frequent this business. read more

I came here with some friends after a quick trip to a nearby lavender farm for brunch. The restaurant is inside a cute house with lots of homey details. I ordered the schnitzel and was surprised with the size of it. The portion size was massive and very flavourful. Our brunch also came with very fresh biscuits and muffins and my schnitzel was also accompanied by a salad. I recommend booking a reservation as this place fills up very quickly. read more

During our tour of the area near Hockley Road, we came across this small restaurant on Violet Hill. I believe they are co-owed with the small gift shop across from them (Granny Taught Us How). I love cute, unique places with character, and this is definitely one of them. It's inside an old School House, everything inside is wooden, and the place is decorated with twine, birds, old style knick knacks. It takes you into another world, and I like that kind of experience. We came around 3pm, and they serve Afternoon Tea from 2-4pm (they also have Brunch, Lunch and Dinner - check the website). It all looked very reasonably priced, and I would want to come back and try. Afternoon tea for $6.50 a person, you get a pot of tea, and a basket of sweet potato muffins and hot biscuits, piping hot, with Strawberry preserves, whipped cream, and whipped butter. I couldn't help but go off my diet and eat it all, and it was worth it! (except for the fact my boyfriend pointed out that the point of tea, is to take your time and munch, while chatting, not scarfing everything down like I did). The place is small, fits about 50 people maybe. Seems also like a nice venue to rent out for a small special event. At the back they have a nice garden with some sculptures and photo opportunity. It's really romantic, and would love to have dinner here sometime. It's a perfect place to stop by and have something different after a hike. read more

Came here for a birthday dinner and was blown away. Such a cute, romantic and charming building and atmosphere. Between two of us. We ordered the mussels and escargot both of which were so delicious. The homemade bread is amazing. Our entrees came with a salad, and they use their own homemade dressing which was yummy (and you can purchase a bottle for $8) For our entrees we had the beef tenderloin, cooked to perfection with a mix of delicious tasting vegetables and the daily special which was a peppercorn steak, also amazing. We were there for lunch on nonbusy weekday. The restaurant is very cute, cut there were peaks of dried food glued on the table next to a plate. I ordered a salad with pistachio goat cheese patties. Meanwhile the hot buns were delicious. At my first bite of the patty I thought I had broken a tooth, it was hard dry and burnt on the bottom, but luckily it was only a Huge bit of nut shell in my mouth, not a tooth. It was inedible. The waitress offered to replace the goat cheese patties, which was done but they were not cooked long enough and actually cold inside. We were not offered any compensation for a miserable meal. Sadly although the coffee was nice, we were not offered refills spontaneously. Very disappointed. read more

Absolutely loved this restaurant and will be coming back despite the 1-hour trip. From the moment we arrived the service was nothing but friendly. They also took into consideration all precautions against Covid. We were served homemade baked goods - Delicious!! Our table shared the shrimp Caesar salad which again was Delicious! We were a table of four and all ordered separate dishes for our main. I had the curry chicken was also delicious and the rest of my party enjoyed their meals. Portions are very generous. Five star all the way! What a beautiful and rustic experience. This historic school house has been converted into a fine dining restaurant. The ambiance is superb, feast your eyes while tantalizing your pallet. We were there the family and I on Mother's Day this year. We enjoyed a wonderful brunch. My wife and I started with the smoked wild mushroom soup, and while we savouring our soup, our daughter tried some and to our surprise she wanted a bowl of her own. On a day that our Canada road trip turned into an hours long car ride through back roads and farmland wrong turns and not a store or business in sight. You've been there: 2 hungry teens 2 hungry parents, tensions are high, mom is back seat driving it's now 2:45 pressure cooker is starting to rock. We came to the end of a farm road, the corn fields parted, and there at the end of a short driveway was a storybook house with (I SWEAR) a rainbow above. We came in at the very end of the lunch service. Beef stew, lamb shank, bread soup, pie...it was all epic. Very disappointed with our first visit to this restaurant. Lunch hours are posted 12 -2pm. Last time I checked that means you can be seated up untill 2. We arrived at 1:40 and were turned away even though their were empty tables visible. Felt VERY unwelcome, and upset having driven 1 1/2 hrs to try it out. Call ahead to check ACTUAL hours of service to save yourself the drive. read more

My wife and I went here for valentine's day for the first time. The atmosphere and service was fantastic. I didn't care much for my Veal Saltimbocca but my wife loved her entry. I think it had more to do with my taste than the chef and meat. I've never had veal done that way and it just wasn't for me. I would definitely go back and try another dish. read more

I don't even know where to begin! First, definitely worth the 1hr drive in the pouring rain to get there. The restaurant used to be a schoolhouse in the 1800s and is beautiful on the inside and outside. Inside in a massive fireplace, wooden flooring, wooden beams in the ceiling and the most beautiful and seasonal decorations. For fall it was filled with pumpkins and gourds, candles and horns of plenty. So so gorgeous. The atmosphere alone is unreal. The menu is small but has really great quality items. Vegetarians beware, there are no veggie options. Steak, duck, lamb, chicken, fish - it's all there. Every entree comes with vegetables, salad, potato and spoon bread (cornbread). Gluten free is possible, with very minor limits. I couldn't have the fresh bread as usual, nor could I have the coconut crusted halibut. I had steak instead so no regrets. The food was cooked to perfection with high quality ingredients. So, so good!! Unfortunately I couldn't have dessert because they all contained gluten except for sorbet (boring!!) but they have a pumpkin cream whipped pie that made me wish more than ever that I could eat gluten! Even the bathrooms in this restaurant are nice with lotions to test that come from their shop across the way "granny taught us how". Once a month they have a jazz night with a prix fixe menu - $55 dollars for dinner and a show. I could go on and on about how wonderful this place is, but you should just go experience it yourself. Heidi and her amazing staff cater to us making us feel welcomed at all times! They food is out of this world, warm and scrumptious. I recently hosted an event at the Restaurant introducing it to new people they are returning next time bringing along with them friends and family. I cannot say enough good things about this place. The building itself is an old school house, and inside all the warm wood and the large fireplace makes it a cosy and charming spot. Like an old century home. The food is "out of this world" good. I've been to a lot of really good restaurants, but this place is absolutely my favourite. The Baked Brie ap is so tasty, with the homemade chutney and jelly. On my last visit (yesterday), I had the Seafood Medley for my entree, and it was delicious! The scallops were cooked perfectly (which is rare to find!) and under the seafood was kind of like a spinach mini-gnocci type thing. Soooo good. Portion size was generous too, I actually had to take a doggie bag home! For dessert, my dad and I split the Sticky Toffee Pudding. It was VERY rich. I think I enjoyed the ice cream that was served with it more than the actual pudding- it was good, but I prefer my toffee pudding to have crunchy pieces in it, and this one was all soft and decadent. Good, just not my person preference. Overall, this place is amazing. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for excellent food in a classic yet comfortable environment.
