Not sure why I've just gotten a notification about Greg's reply to my negative review, but here is an update.... Surprise, surprise, Greg P from Mr. Pets never acknowledged responsibility for his rude staff and hazardous shopping area that lead to my injury, pain and frustration, or offered any kind of help, empathy, or understanding. His suggestion to contact a lawyer myself was ridiculous, 3 different lawyers that I contacted told me that as well. Their legal opinions were all the same - the owner of Mr. PETS would likely make getting anything as difficult as possible. He never even gave me the information for his insurance company or any way to move forward. Due to the level of stress I was already experiencing trying to navigate life with one working arm and a toddler, I opted not to go that route. Since he refused to contact his insurance company himself as any decent business owner would do, or acknowledge the incident even happened, there was no information for the hospital and doctors besides my word. The doctor who read my ultra sounds and x-rays missed what was later called an obvious separation in my right shoulder. When the obvious injury was initially missed, I was told to use Tylenol/Advil until the pain went away. It took over a year to find a doctor who would listen and took another look at the original tests. He immediately prescribed me something to help and said that had I been able to push for the physio or surgery when the initial injury happened, I likely wouldn't be at risk of it happening again in the future. I have not returned to the store where I found the prices to be higher than others and the staff to be incredibly rude and poorly trained... Thankful for other options. read more

Staff don't know their product. Poor training I assume. Employees seem to think they work for the municipality. 1 person working while 3 people watch them work. Lineup at the till but the leaners won't open another till. Don't waste your time trying to get service here. Go somewhere else!!!! read more

I was almost scared off by the overall one star rating, and I think it's a shame that other reviewers have had such negative experiences, but I feel compelled to share that my visit to Mr. Pet's was totally fine. I went in to stock up on some supplies for my dog for an upcoming trip and I was really impressed by the vast array of selection with regards to different foods, treats, toys and accessories. The staff was friendly and helpful and the employee I asked for help with finding something specific was knowledgeable and did a great job showing me the product I needed and informing me about it. I can't speak to the conditions of the fish (I actually didn't see the tanks when I was in there? Maybe they are on the other side of the store from the dog stuff...) but there were a couple of ferrets that seemed pretty happy and the dog that was there getting babysat also seemed fine and had a huge array of comfy beds and toys around him. I'm giving 5 stars for the exceptional fish care! The only pet store that doesn't keep their bettas in cups. The staff are very knowledgeable as well especially the young woman with the coloured hair. I wish the vancouver location and all pet stores held this sort of responsibility with their aquatics department. read more

I find the staff does their best and have gone out of their way for me in the past. They are a younger group that has some knowledge of their products and livestock. No place is perfect. DO YOUR HOMEWORK ON FISH & OTHER PETS. Don't blame the staff because you killed your Fish or Budgie. Pets you purchase are stressed when you get them. Be prepared to deal with it because it can get expensive; if you can't then don't be a pet owner. I have been quite pleased with the aquatic plants and fish I have purchased over the last few years. Terrible pet store! I walked in and headed for the fish section. I smiled at the woman cleaning the tanks and she looked and me then continued cleaning. She didn't smile back or say "hello". I wandered around looking at fish and she didn't ask me if I needed help with anything... 2. The fish were sick, lots of dead fish and clenched fins!! 3. I asked if someone could test my water, no one in the store knew how! 4. The fish items were 2x the price of any other pet store... 25$ for a 5 gallon pump?!? And finally I asked the cashier who was cleaning the tanks and he said it was the groomer! Why would I ever want to take my pet to be groomed by an unfriendly staff member?!? Who doesn't know how to properly care for fish. I will never ever shop here. read more

Rude staff. I walked in with my dog and they were busy talking. I stood there standing for a while and then they finally said can I help you? She was about 15 feet away and never even bother to walk up to me. I wanted to speak with the groomer. Rude unhappy people. Will never go back. read more

The staff was not friendly at all, no smiles, no greeting even. I was looking for everything for a new puppy and had to bother the 2 employees who were busy talking to each other for help. They debated back and forth who would be the one to have to assist me. After going to other pet stores and seeing the amazing knowledge and helpfulness of the staff, I will never return to Mr Pets again. read more

When I first came into your store I was happily greeted by recognized friendly faces from the previous company which made me continue to come here every couple months. As I live far away and have always made special trips to this location for the past couple years only to be down right devastated that the ONLY two FRIENDLY and HELPFUL workers who were the reasons for my stops to the store worthwhile have quit. The tall darker blonde hair girl was always so cheerful and was always wanting to take me to the exact product I was looking for! and the larger gentlemen was always happy to do my carry outs without making it seem like a hassle and always left me smiling. A friend of mine told me about her terrible experience of dealing with a larger blonde lady with glasses who looked like she wanted nothing to do with her and answered her questions very vividly as if she didnt even care to make a sale or not. When I went into the store a couple weeks ago I was so sad to see the same rude, snappy, managers from before! NEW COMPANY SAME TERRIBLE MANAGEMENT. New Companies should come with management who knows a thing or two about good customer service. Now that there and no longer helpful, friendly, good customer service employees I will no longer shop here and have referred lots of my puppy pals to better places who actually care about their customers experience. read more
