I came across SlowBlink Cattery while looking for a Maine Coon breeder in the Greater Vancouver…read morearea. After a thorough search and conversations with various breeders, I stumbled upon SlowBlink. Mia, the owner, stood out with her extensive knowledge of cat health and nutrition. She was incredibly kind and patient, taking the time to address my concerns about purchasing a kitten without breeding rights. She offered me several options, and we found one that suited me perfectly. As a new cat owner, I valued Mia's ability to accurately assess the kitten's condition based on my brief description. SlowBlink's expertise and the inclusion of first-month insurance provided me with a strong support system in the initial stages of bringing home my kitten. Thanks to their guidance, I was able to confidently reserve a beautiful kitten. I wholeheartedly recommend SlowBlink to anyone searching for a trustworthy and caring place to find their new feline companion. --T and D's mum.

I'll get a little personal to explain my five star review…read more.. I have a child with Autism and anxiety. I have anxiety and depression as well (to the point where I'm on disability from work). We are still functioning and find animals very relaxing. I've been a cat owner my entire life and we've also adopted rescue animals. We tried adopting through both the Vancouver SPCA and the Cat Cafe. I found the staff and volunteers were often uninformed about the animals. When we did find an animal that would be well suited to us - we were often told that it was already pending adoption. I tried to explain that it was devastating to my child (age 12) to meet and bond with an animal, only to be told it wasn't available. They refused to hold animals, so we could meet them and, if suitable, adopt without being told, "Oops, this one is already spoken for". An acquaintance of mine used to work for RAPS and often posted available cats on her Facebook page. I saw a beautiful, big black cat named "Nero". I called them and explained our unique situation and how we had found difficulty with other agencies. They invited me to submit an online application and come down to meet the cat. I did. He was perfect. They agreed to hold him for a day and a half so my son could meet him. We adopted him and he is a pleasure. My son is less anxious at night with the newly named, "Oliver" in his room and sleeps better. I hang out with him during the day. The staff were all so kind and professional to us. I can't praise or thank them enough.

I do respect RAPS for the tremendous work they do for the benefit of animals. I visited the shelter earlier to-day as I was interested in a small poodle which was offered for adoption. The animal was presented to me held on a tight leash by the shelter person, who was standing with the pet behind a metal fenced door. The pet's look was of friendliness and curiosity. I chatted with the attendant and requested that I be allowed to hold the dog on its leash. The attendant refused saying that the dog can be aggressive and she cannot allow him being handled by a visitor. If really the shelter believes that a small pet is so dangerous that it cannot be offered for walking a few steps on leash with a potential adopter and that it must be kept behind a strong fence which only their handler can access, then in my opinion this shelter is irresponsible in offering the cute little monster for adoption. The reason I'm granting them 2 stars instead of one, is because their personnel at the reception has been kind and helpful.

Surprise, surprise, Greg P from Mr. Pets never acknowledged responsibility for his rude staff and hazardous shopping area that lead to my injury, pain and frustration, or offered any kind of help, empathy, or understanding. His suggestion to contact a lawyer myself was ridiculous, 3 different lawyers that I contacted told me that as well. Their legal opinions were all the same - the owner of Mr. PETS would likely make getting anything as difficult as possible. He never even gave me the information for his insurance company or any way to move forward. Due to the level of stress I was already experiencing trying to navigate life with one working arm and a toddler, I opted not to go that route. Since he refused to contact his insurance company himself as any decent business owner would do, or acknowledge the incident even happened, there was no information for the hospital and doctors besides my word. The doctor who read my ultra sounds and x-rays missed what was later called an obvious separation in my right shoulder. When the obvious injury was initially missed, I was told to use Tylenol/Advil until the pain went away. It took over a year to find a doctor who would listen and took another look at the original tests. He immediately prescribed me something to help and said that had I been able to push for the physio or surgery when the initial injury happened, I likely wouldn't be at risk of it happening again in the future. I have not returned to the store where I found the prices to be higher than others and the staff to be incredibly rude and poorly trained... Thankful for other options.
