I used to love this place but hadn't visited in a while. With so many boba places and so little time, it took me a bit to return. Recently, we came back and ordered Pineapple Tea with Fresh Pulp and Red Bean Pudding Milk Tea. The Pineapple Tea with Fresh Pulp was ordered at 0% sugar because the staff said it was sweet enough on its own. Trust me, it's not. You should order it with at least 30% sugar. The ice level was quite high, so ask for less ice; otherwise, you'll finish the drink too quickly. These are my personal preferences, which is why I didn't love it. Now, for my main concern: the pudding in the Red Bean Pudding Milk Tea wasn't the right color. It wasn't consistently vibrant yellow; some parts had a brown or grayish hue. However, the red beans were perfectly cooked--soft but not squishy, and not hard like I've had at other places. After we ordered and sat down, the manager left, and one of the employees hopped onto the counter where they serve the tea and sat there. I've been coming to Mr Wish in Marlboro at least once a week, spending around $20 each visit. I always order the same three drinks, and up until now, it's been a reliable spot. However, after my most recent experience, I won't be returning. On this visit, two of the drinks had extra sugar even though I clearly ordered them with no additional sugar. Mistakes happen--no big deal. I was planning to swing back and get them remade. But when I called to explain the issue, the person on the phone immediately got defensive and rude, insisting I asked for extra sugar. He said he'd check the cameras, then slammed the phone on me. Now frustrated, I drove back right away. He claimed the footage showed me asking for extra sugar, but conveniently refused to show me the clip. I highly doubt he even reviewed anything, considering I was back within 5 minutes. Rather than resolving the issue or even listening, he continued to argue and give me attitude--even though I've been a loyal customer who orders the same thing every time. Had I made a mistake, I would've owned up to it and apologized. But the way this situation was handled--with arrogance and zero accountability--was unacceptable. Drinks are good but the staff is stand offish as most the time they are teenagers chatting with each other or their friends visiting. A lot of their fruit teas are super sour which I do love a good sour punch. Drinks are well made and they aren't skimpy on toppings or ingredients. This is my first time trying this place, and I highly DO NOT recommend it. I've ordered 4 different bubble teas and all of it DID NOT meet expectation. My orders were bland, and he didn't even put enough Sagos/ bubbles. I'm not quite sure if it's deliberate because the staff was extremely rude, he acted like he was rudely interrupted from his napping. Obviously, he didn't care about his job. He could have easily charge me for Large ones but since he didn't ask what size I wanted; therefore, he just assumed to charge me for Medium which he actually did me a favor because I couldn't even finish the medium because it was that BAD. The sagos were chewy old, and mango drink tasted like mango canned juice filled with water and lychee at the bottom. Which I could have easily make myself at home and save myself from getting aggravated with that staff's attitude. So when I called him out for his LYING because my drink actually comes in Large size too but he told me all my order only comes in medium sizes. Perhaps, he was still half asleep. I hope the owner of this franchise reconsider giving this staff guy a lesson 101 on improving his customer service skill, or provide him a rundown AGAIN of the menu because black tiger milk also comes in Large. He doesn't seem that he can tolerate his job so why keep someone like that who will cost losing customer. So whoever is reading my review, I suggest not to support this establishment because the drinks are not special. It doesn't taste fresh as the website claims. Don't know how they decide which drinks on what criteria. This review is about the menu choices. The website talks about being a healthier choice and I was hopeful they had vegan milk alternatives. I called them and no one answered the phone. My favorite bubble tea place around. Every time I go to the Asian food store next door I stop and get a bubble tea for me and the kids to share. We'll get a fruit tea and a milk tea and usually try to get it less sweet than they would make it. Everything is good there. Warning, their taro, which they do tell you up front, is not the typical artificial tasting one but it's more original to how rare tastes, they include the starchy pieces of taro and it almost feels gritty and lumpy. Had a terrible experience today at Mr. Wish, their customer service is terrible. Very rude both kid at counter and manager. The tea flavor is ESPECIALLY strong in this drink!! I highly recommend this one. My only regret is ordering a medium instead of a large size. I also tried the mango smoothie.. the fresh mango flavor is very apparent in the drink. They unfortunately only have one size for this drink, which is a medium. Wish it was a large size! When I found out there was a bubble tea place near me I was ecstatic! There aren't that many close to where I live and I have to travel to get some. But I recently tried this place and I cannot recommend it enough!!!! The drink I had was delicious and the custard cakes were perfect. The staff was also very friendly. The cashier was very patient with my mom when she was asking questions and deciding what she was wanted to get and helped her decide. Also, the cakes take about 6 minutes to make, which I did not mind at all, but just keep that in mind if you are in a rush. It can get busy so be patient with the staff. They are awesome! Finally a boba and fruit tea place close by that I don't have to drive down to Edison to get my fix. I am a little picky when it comes to boba tea and they satisfied my taste buds for it. I was a bit weary because I have tried the Mr. Tea in Edison and it was just ok. But I always give places a try, so figured why not give this location a try too. The place is clean and the staff is nice and friendly. My son enjoys their mango smoothie (def saves me the trip to mango mango), my husband enjoyed their colorful fruit tea and I go for my usual pearl milk tea.
