We had Tyler K as our server a few times now and he's phenomenal, super attentive and personality is amazingly friendly. Food is always great during dinner, we love the crab rangoons and variety of rolls here. Music is nice, not too loud, and place is kept clean pretty well read more

First time visit. We had about a 10minute wait, it was around 7:00pm on a Saturday night. It's a simple restaurant with tables and booths. Our server was very nice and attentive. You order by filling out an order form. If you order 3 items you fall under the unlimited and can order more later using the same order form I had spring rolls, chicken fried rice and cucumber roll. Everything was delicious and arrived to our table quickly. read more

We came for a midweek lunch and opted to order ala carte instead of from the AYCE menu. By the looks of things most of the diners were chowing down all they could eat before returning to work. I ordered both tuna and octopus sashimi along with a Charlotte roll. All was excellent and would order again. Lori ordered the Teriyaki Chicken, stated it was tasty and would return especially when in the mood for Asian inspired dishes. Service was excellent and cheery. The restaurant gets deductions, however, for looking tired and desperately in need of fresh paint. The menus are worn thin with curling laminate--cannot imagine the number of germs clinging to them! Overall, our experience suggests we will try them again. Has my "Give 'em a Whirl" meter practicing "konnichiwa" for a return visit. read more

I've been coming to Mr. Tokyo in Monroe since around 2021, when they first opened. My family and I have been loyal customers for years -- even before we had children -- but after our experience today in 2026, we will not be coming back. First, I want to make it clear that our waitress was phenomenal. She was kind, attentive, and did her best to take care of us. Unfortunately, the manager made what should have been an enjoyable family meal extremely uncomfortable. Throughout our meal, the manager kept roaming around and observing our table to the point where we felt like we couldn't even eat peacefully. He was also rude toward our waitress and was pressuring her about charging us for our children, even though both of our children are not even 3 years old yet. You could visibly tell how stressed our waitress was by the pressure he was putting on her. What really bothered me was noticing an additional $5 surcharge on our bill. I caught it immediately and brought it to our waitress's attention. Between that, the constant watching, and the way the manager treated our waitress, the entire experience left a terrible impression. After supporting this restaurant for approximately five years, it is extremely disappointing to feel like squeezing a few extra dollars out of customers has become more important than treating loyal customers and employees with respect. This is not the Mr. Tokyo we have supported for years. Our waitress deserves recognition because she was wonderful, but management completely ruined the experience for us. After being loyal customers since the beginning, we will be taking our business elsewhere. read more

This is my first experience at Mr.Tokyo but not my first sushi ayce experience. The food was ok, nothing to write home about. Not a lot of decor/ambience which is a bummer for me, unless it's fine dining I would love to see culture that makes the restaurant. Nothing bad to say about service, it was fast and she kept a smile. I wouldn't recommend or come back but you should give them a try, maybe you'll enjoy it. read more

I'm really disappointed with the service at Mr. Tokyo today. They close at 3pm and reopen at 4pm, and we arrived at 2:36pm. In the past, their last call for orders was 2:45pm, and even just two weeks ago I was able to order with no issue. Today, however, they refused to serve us and claimed they had changed their last call time "months ago,"customers should be clearly informed especially when it's different from what regular customers are used to. We were turned away despite arriving well before their posted closing time. Very Unprofessional, lazy, and zero respect for customers. Clear communication matters, and sadly Mr. Tokyo failed today. read more

Put in an order at 8:45, went to pick it up and we were told they cancelled it because they wanted to close early. Hopefully we will get our refund since they took payment. read more

The quality of the roll I ate was poor. There was no white fish, only imitation crab and the dressings were globbed on. Wasabi is cheap paste, not fresh... There was not too much rice as others have mentioned. I ordered ala cart. Service was very good. read more

Service here was great. The waitress was very attentive. Food came out quick and fresh. For the price I would go back for sure. Enough food options with good taste for us to go again. I liked the ginger salad and the crab ragoon was legit. Plenty of tasty Sushi to enjoy. Be careful you'll fill up fast. read more

Got there around 11:30. My kids were hungry so I thought we could sit and let them eat while we waited for 2 other people from our family. That wasn't the case. Every member of your party has to be there before you can be seated, no matter how dead or busy it was. They were not busy at all at the time we arrived and still sat down straight away when the rest of the family got there at 12:15. The food was good. The all you can eat is worth it if you can eat 2 sushi rolls minimum, plus appetizers and hibachi included, but they charge per entree that you do not finish and rolls as well. So if you do unlimited make sure you eat what you can. The table we sat at was small and all the tables looked a little small but the booths look very spacious. The restaurant had the lights dimmed and the bathrooms were clean for how old the building is. Taste: Average, nothing special. Exactly what you would expect. Service: Very friendly and attentive, no complaints minus not being able to be seated without whole party. Cleanliness: Good for what it is. Overall: Good place to bring the family if they like hibachi and sushi. If I were in the area, I would stop again. read more

We went on a Saturday night and there was about a 20 minute wait. Once we were seated we ordered and the food came out pretty quickly. Everyone was really good and tasted fresh. My favorite was the Charlotte roll but the Abba roll was also good! read more

Can't beat the price. Just eat everything you order or be penalized. Order as much sushi, hibachi, appetizers, soup, and salad you care to eat. Good service, everything I tried was very good. Inside is clean, but nothing fancy. Lunch during the week is the best deal or wait until parents visit and have mom and dad treat! Great spot for Wingate Bulldogs! read more

I've been hoping to get around to getting all you can eat sushi for a long time. The concept of all you can eat sushi, hibachi, and appetizers is awesome. I was so excited to get my fill of crab rangoon along with multiple sushi offerings. The all you can eat is $23.99, which you should end up paying for if you get two specialty rolls. As far as service goes, I had to dock a star. I personally felt like the staff weren't overly friendly and there was a lack of communication between them. The waitress wasn't easily accessible and I regretted not ordering all of the sushi I wanted the first go around despite fearing not being able to finish it, because it took a while to be able to order again. There was also an issue getting a refill on drinks, but another waiter was able to help. My parents wanted to get hibachi entrees instead of all you can eat but didn't realize that until after the waitress had walked away, so I instructed my dad to immediately go and correct the order, which he did. When we got our bill, we were surprised to see an incredibly high total, and thankfully I noticed that they charged us for two additional all you can eat orders in addition to the hibachi entrees. They had no problem with clearing that up, but be sure to read over your bill carefully if it doesn't look right and you have any confusion over ordering. Overall, this was a fun experience and I look forward to going again sometime! I have a few more rolls I am curious about. read more

This place is a fun way to experience different sushi rolls, appetizers, and hibachi for an affordable price. I would not suggest this place as a go to sushi restaurant but if you want a variety for a good price this is not a bad option. The steak hibachi and crab ragon were the best items ordered. read more

I am so happy that I got to dine here especially since I've been wanting to for quite some time. Ordering was a bit confusing since you check off what from the list you want. I ordered hibachi and they had confused our orders up by putting my rice on a separate bowl and my beef on a separate plate so that I had my chicken and rice on another plate. The sushi looked fresh and tasty but it is sometimes a hit or miss but this restaurant has consistency. The atmosphere wasn't too loud which was good and we enjoyed our time and ended up staying until they closed. Their closing times are confusing since they close at 3 pm and reopen later in the day. Will be back soon though! read more

This place is so poorly run it's hard to even quantify it. As my family sat here for more than an hour when the wait was 20 minutes - and we watched how often a table would be searching for their server.... It just dawned on me. The management has no idea how to turn over tables to keep customers happy - not those who've been seated already- and especially not those who are on the wait list. If you want to come here - make sure you have a SMALL party of 2 to 3 people so you can sit before you age an entire year. read more

Great food, great deal, either off menu ala carte or ayce. Great service. Monroe, NC location is great.

Not cheap, but a great value for good sushi and sides. My waitress, Colleen, was friendly and knowledgeable and did a great job serving up an endless parade of tasty fare. The Snow White Roll and gyoza were particularly enjoyable. A glutton would certainly find this place an excellent deal and even those like myself with smaller appetites will appreciate the value. If you ever eaten at a good quality sushi/hibachi joint you know the good stuff didn't come cheap. This place is a pretty good deal. Domo arigato! read more

I'll never have a bad thing to say about Mr. Tokyo, this place has become a regular spot for my husband and our friends. The service is always top notch, and the ambiance is always great. The food is pretty great, the crab rangoons are to die for. Def give this place a try. Want all you can eat sushi? This is your place to go. read more

Found a piece of I'm guessing plastic wrap in my roll, and a eyelash on one of my gyoza, food was okay, def not worth the money

Do not recommend. Very expensive for what you get. We had sushi rolls and the came in a distant third to Publix and Harris Teeter Sushi. Server was ok but table was dirty as was the floor. For $70+ for three people, I expect a little higher quality and cleanliness. read more

I am so full it's embarrassing. Let me just say, do not go in here without a full appetite & plenty of space in your pants! All you can eat sushi & hibachi served to your table as you order. Friendly waitstaff who are especially attentive. I enjoyed the entire experience. Only wish I had more space in my tummy! I tried so many different plates, but sadly only took pics of a few. $19.99 for all you can eat is not so bad. You can also order off the menu, but umm by the time you do that you may as well do all you can eat read more

Quit making sushi with 90% rice! And charging people for not eating the sushi, which is mostly rice. The people that eat there may not know that they're being ripped off but if they try a few other sushi restaurants that are really reputable they will definitely taste and see the difference. read more

After a long time not eating at this location, my daughter asked to have dinner at Mr Tokyo as an special occasion for her. Right after we paid the check, we were still seated, I saw a mouse running behind the booths. I went to talk to the manager and for my surprise, after he apologized he said they were having issues with roaches, but "mouse", it was new to him... The place is not clean and my husband reminded me why we haven't eaten there, because the floors are always dirty, the bathroom hallway is super slippery due for being next to its kitchen. We are hoping we won't get sick after eating there.... read more

Good food and good service. This was our first visit and we will be back. Sushi was tasty!

Well, I'd stopped on my way through and thought I'd get a good & balanced meal in before my 6:00 cut-off time. The food was good overall and the menu was a tad confusing but my server helped me with the jist of it. I had a combination hibachi plate with veggies, shrimp, steak & chicken. Very good, very filling... Now, I'll discuss the facility. It wasn't the cleanest since my soy sauce container was unkempt and my table was sticky so that was a problem. The men's restroom was not kept up and the paper towel dispenser simply had a roll plopped on top of it meaning that someone was too lazy or couldn't be bothered to install it properly. My server was extremely informative and on point about everything in the place. She made the overall experience better than me walking out which was my first inclination after dealing with a hostess who chose to ignore a potential customer. ..why? I don't know or understand even after making eye contact with me when I'd arrived. I did seat myself when she made no move towards me and after a minute or two, she'd asked if I was there for a pickup order. I informed her that I was not, that I intended to dine there. She then tried to move me to a isolated table against a wall in a corner and I asked why would I care to be placed in a corner as I'm on punishment? I thought of that as rather strange...my experience is if I ever go in that direction again, it would serve me better to just do like the other people of color who came through and simply get my order to go. read more

Wasn't too bad, but the fish is greatly unseasoned and feels like it has no flavor at all and even the rice isn't unseasoned, like maybe add some rice wine or abit more. Not much flavor, feels like even if it's pretty, taste like most California plain rolls. read more

I have only ordered carry out, but every time I've ordered everything has been exactly the way I ordered. One of my favorite entrées is the "spider-roll," it's so delicious! I love it! I also enjoy the eel, Spider-Man roll is amazing as well and the salads are all fresh and just as good. I recommend the seaweed salad. The staff has always been very pleasant when I go in to pick up my order. I never have to wait and I never feel rushed. The prices are good, you get what you pay for and I think the food is amazing.
