This year we got the usual great lineup but instead of the DIY style show in a parking lot, Professor Vic moved it to the Cathedral. Located right off Garey, The Cathedral is tough to miss. There's plenty of street parking on Center St and there's also a small parking lot across the street. This used to be a YMCA but it looks like an old church with dark wood flooring, high ceilings and stained glass windows. A very cool venue. How did it sound? Loud. Extremely loud. They also had a huge video board which gave each band a little extra hot sauce. There were a couple of bars in the back and you could also order food. It's air conditioned in there but between the heat (100+ outside at the time) and the amount of bodies inside, it was at least bearable. Mosh for Youth was great as always and while I loved the DIY ethos in the past this felt like a leap forward. The sound, look and venue made this feel big time. I hope future MFY shows take place here...until they maybe outgrow this place too, which would mean more scholarships for the kids. Highly recommended!

The Haven is a 125 capacity space with brick walls and wood laminate floors. It's a pretty cool picture when you walk in. The Haven used to host all sorts of music but in recent times they've dialed back on hosting hardcore punk shows because people can't control themselves. But if you're interested in all sorts of alternative bands there's still something here for you. Absolutely no alcohol on premises but you can get water. Security is pretty cool and aren't afraid to kick folks out for acting a fool. Parking is anywhere you'd park if you were going to the Fox or Glass House. The Haven is an awesome venue and I hope they start to host hardcore punk shows more often but I don't blame for putting down a pause. That said the sound is real good and it's an awesome place to see your favorites up close. Check their IG for upcoming events if this sounds like your vibe. Highly recommended!

Get it together and make sure everyone is aware of what is allowed or not. Don't have one person say yes... I went out of my way to get the balloons because they said yes. I would not recommend... at least their other locations have food this one didn't. The bartender seemed to be learning how to mix drinks. For the area this bar is in... the prices were not it. Needless to say I thought the Flyway was an interesting choice of venue for this occasion. Located near the rooftop in the same building as the Fox Theater, you'll see the entrance off Garey. Parking is abundant and can be a bit pricey if you want to park in the closest lot between the Fox and the bank. I paid $25 because I was feeling a bit lazy. After walking up 4-5 flights of stairs (there is an elevator available) you'll find yourself in a nicely decorated room with wooden floors, couches along the wall and colorful lighting. Got that old tyme speakeasy vibe (but no piano music.) The bar is near where you enter. There were a few hiccups in the sound, probably because this place doesn't seem to have live music that often. Or it was on the musicians themselves (there were 11 bands that played, mostly way younger than I). But overall the sound was pretty good. I always have earplugs in but if I forgot them at home I wouldn't have lost much sleep. I didn't drink anything alcoholic but the bartenders were keeping the water cups going. That was very appreciated because with the amount of people moving it got warm on occasion. They also have a smaller balcony with a nice view of Garey and other parts of downtown Pomona. Would I come back for the nightclub? No. I'm too old for that lol. But another live show? Sure why not. You can never be too old for live music.

Plenty of parking spaces, it opens at 7pm so it feels early when it's still light out. They play a lot of oldies, 80s and 90s songs. I kind of felt out of place not knowing a lot of the older songs. Younger folks might have a tough time following along the songs. If you want your song played it's like a $20 payment unless no one is there and you might get away with under $20. That accept cash and Venmo. They have a full bar for drink orders and a menu for bar food like pizza, burgers, and fries. Don't have high expectations for the food. You're here for the piano music. You can put in special requests at the beginning of the night to highlight someone's birthday and they might get called up on stage. Or pay $100 and get to sing your song on stage. Overall it's a try once of your life experience or if you like every song in piano format.

Well, I had heard that the year prior, some people fell out from heat stroke. But point being, just have no rules for anybody, then we'll make it work. My friend said, "Pay for VIP." Pay an extra $300 for bathroom rights (needed ladies!), and a chair under a canopy. I'd just rather buy a cruise ticket and play my iPod. Knowing this, what drew me out? It was an odd set up but we proceeded to the small tiny ass bar area, got drinks walked around, literally just around the dance floor there was no where to sit or stand other than at the very end of each side of the dance floor where no one can see you if you wanted to dance. We were out of there within 10 mts!! As we were walking out there was a guy that asked us why were we leaving, told him our concerns since my friend recognized him as Ralph, I think he's the coordinator or something anyway the guy keeps talking about how those tables sell out every weekend but if we wanted one in advance he could reserve one for us. Huh? What about just have a lounge area where ppl that don't have large parties or a need for a table can sit down or stand where the action is happening? Anyway he didn't really seem to care that we were not impressed he didn't even offer to accommodate us so we wouldn't leave. Whatever dude keep your $15 cover. There was a lot of questioned asked beforehand. Any guns, knives, weapons, alcohol and so on. Ok, he was very precise. Plus from the reviews, security was a big factor. Our experience, it was fine. The questions and then we were let in. Before that, it's a 10.00 cash entrance fee. Inside, I was surprised how big the place was. A massive bar area on one side, a big patio for smoking and a large dance floor as well as a stage above it. We had a little section that was reserved which I believe maybe the only section that offers that. There were loads of bartender as well as waitress walking around taking orders. When we arrived, it was pretty busy to begin with and they offered free line dancing lesson. That's around 7-9pm I believe. Within half an hour after arriving around 7, the place was packed. And I mean packed. This place was lively and well known I guess. Dance floor was packed which it's suppose to be. Waitress walking around did help with the ordering process.
