Hidden gem alert. I…read morewas headed to Bham from St Louis and someone told me this place was famous for its legendary pork steak. Naturally, I drove a good bit out of my way to investigate this pork steak for myself. It is in fact legendary and you should go here for yourself if you're ever within range of this place. To start, it's in a very small town and the vibes are as down-home as it gets. It's got a solid menu of recognizable bbq options and plenty of seating to accommodate your group. It's clean and the people are as friendly as could be. Service was quick, prices were beyond reasonable. Now on to this pork steak. I, myself do not have a lot of experience with pork steaks so I'll do my best to describe what I had. It looks like a steak. It weights 2lbs. It's on the bone and fork-tender. The fat is rendered perfectly and when you go at this thing with a fork and knife, it basically falls apart into what you'd normally find on a pulled pork sandwich. It was smoked beautifully, it was flavorful and delicious. I'm never going to forget it. I understand why they're famous for it. Just amazing. The au gratin potatoes were excellent as well and I'd definitely order this plate and everything on it again. Long story short this is an out of the way, hole in the wall kind of place in a small town. If you're passing by on the nearest interstate, it's worth it to plan a little excursion to it just to take in the deliciousness that they're providing. 5 stars all around.

I will skip the formalities and introductions to just say how impressed I was with my meal. This is…read morea pretty small town, so I was just expecting the typical Mexican fare that you find in any place. Then I ordered the VOLCANO. What a treat. It took a while to prepare and the wait was worth it. Bubbling hot mixture with strawed onions and meat in a steaming hot molcajete. Topped with fresh avocado slices. A six fish of rice and beans. The flavor was excellent and the portion was huge. My only complaint is that it needs a larger tortilla option and about ten instead of three as an up sell . It's worthy of a huge appetite Also worth noting is that not only was the menu full featured, but the restaurant also advertises pizza and wings which is very accommodating for this town.

The broccoli chicken was delicious and the broccoli was perfectly cooked. Everything we had for dinner was piping hot with the exception of the breaded fried zucchini (barely lukewarm but perfectly crispy). All selections we tried were delicious. The ONE middle-aged lady collecting dirty plates & filling drinks for the entire restaurant was phenomenal. I found her and handed her a nice cash tip before we left. She is definitely overworked and under appreciated. The man at the register was talking to a young male employee in another language -- across the restaurant. As in one guy was up by the front door and the other guy was at the furthest buffet table (desserts), so we got to listen to them holler back & forth at each for almost our entire meal. THAT was weird... and rude. We were exhausted and famished after 10 hours on the road, a peaceful meal would've been nice. As I said, the food was good so at least there was that. The variety of ice cream for dessert was great, but the 2 available scoops were soaking in a cloudy container of gray water. I just used an ice cream teaspoon to dig down deep & dish up.
