We arrived an hour before closing. We walked around to see what was being served. There was still a good variety of options available so we grabbed a booth. Food was decent. The broccoli chicken was delicious and the broccoli was perfectly cooked. Everything we had for dinner was piping hot with the exception of the breaded fried zucchini (barely lukewarm but perfectly crispy). All selections we tried were delicious. The ONE middle-aged lady collecting dirty plates & filling drinks for the entire restaurant was phenomenal. I found her and handed her a nice cash tip before we left. She is definitely overworked and under appreciated. The man at the register was talking to a young male employee in another language -- across the restaurant. As in one guy was up by the front door and the other guy was at the furthest buffet table (desserts), so we got to listen to them holler back & forth at each for almost our entire meal. THAT was weird... and rude. We were exhausted and famished after 10 hours on the road, a peaceful meal would've been nice. As I said, the food was good so at least there was that. The variety of ice cream for dessert was great, but the 2 available scoops were soaking in a cloudy container of gray water. I just used an ice cream teaspoon to dig down deep & dish up. Pocahontas is a halfway point for us on many travels, this was our first time visiting China Star. Their hours are perfect for when we roll in at the end of a long day - I'd much rather have fresh stir fry than fast food. We'll be back. read more

Small town restaurant, very clean, food always hot. Great selection. Service was excellent as far as drinks.

We paid $31 for two people and barely ate anything because the food was just that bad. Everything had a strange metallic, almost iron-like taste, and the chicken was so hard and dry that I could barely even cut a piece off. Nothing tasted fresh or seasoned right. When we politely explained that the food was gross and we couldn't eat it, the manager refused to offer any kind of help or discount. I've never left a review before, but this was honestly one of the worst buffet experiences I've had. Definitely not worth the money. I am just so frustrated and I hope anyone who sees this does not make the same mistake. ps- I'm very open to the possibility that it was just at this time the food was terrible and it might be better a different day. read more

Seem to be going downhill. Went at 6 on a Friday. Several items were missing or old and cold. The sweet tea was weak and not very sweet. Asked for a Pepsi instead. Was told would be charged for a separate drink. I was one of the few who actually tipped decent before this, but I will never go back. I come here all the time because I absolutely love their food despite sometimes having to wait for them to bring out more food when they get empty. Which I have no issues over because it happens (and I typically chalk it up as "bad timing"). I typically tip what I can unless they do something that I've asked them not to do. Today (June 2, 2016), I treated my family out to eat here and I get the ticket that says $41.70. I go to pay and I pay by credit card. When I use my credit card here, they charge the ticket amount then in 3 days, the amount changes for the tip. I added $3.30 (I am a bit OCD and wanted it to be a multiple of 5 amount). We get loaded in the car and I check my bank statement via cell phone APP (because every time I make a payment on anything, I always check my balance) and I get: Store Purchase CHINA STAR SUPER BUFFET LLC On Hold: $50.04 So I go back inside and ask him why he charged the extra amount. He told me that with his credit card system, the charge hasn't gone through yet and I shown him a screenshot of the charge and told him that it's currently on hold and this is the amount he charged. Suddenly he turned very rude and said that maybe my card got stolen. Which doesn't make any sense due to the fact that I just used my card to pay for our meal and that is the ONLY card ever and only I am authorized to order a new card and I do not allow additional cards. He then told me that he could call his bank and they'll tell me the same thing. I told him not to bother and that if the charge doesn't get corrected to $45 in a few days then I will call MY bank to resolve the issue and that I was never coming back here again. Hopefully this charge will change and thankfully I had the extra $10 in my account to cover the charge because who knows what type of attitude I would have received. I have no idea why he treated me this way because the older lady there is very sweet and despite her not knowing a whole lot of English, she pretty much knows me by sight and knows exactly what drink I always order. And it is because of her, I'll give this place 3 stars. I'll miss her but I do not appreciate being charged extra that I never approved of. I will add an update to this once the charge gets off hold and whether or not the charge increased or decreased. Edit: It was fixed after 3 days but I stand by not ever coming back here again. read more

Not as good as one in walnut ridge. They don't always have the freshest stuff out there even during peak hours. Some things are fresh but have an off taste. Would still go when I crave chinese. But never between lunch and dinner. read more

I gave this restaurant a four star rating compared to the other restaurants in town. When compared to other Chinese buffets I'd rate it three stars simply because all Chinese buffets are the same. They all offer the same dishes. They all look alike. I like Chinese food. It is some of my favorite but there's nothing about this restaurant to merit calling it a Super anything. Food is good, sit down service is good but I have had a very very bad experience with their carry out. I called ahead and ordered 2 to go plates. 1.) with fried rice, honey chicken, noodles and sweet and sour pork 2.) honey chicken, fried rice & noodles.. had my husband to stop by and pick it up and it was $55 dollars.. The woman taking my order did not speak very good English and thought I wanted full plates of all these individually.
