What a great little place to find. I was visiting a friend and he has been here several times. His only complaint is that they aren't open in the evening. Pros: * The prices are reasonable * Chicken wrap - lots of food and the taste was great * Hummus - really enjoyed the creaminess and taste. You get a lot of hummus and really need more pita bread to eat it all. We put the extra on our chicken wraps I can't wait until I visit Pensacola again to try some more items here. read more

I've been trying to get into this place and try it for a year but found it closed, or we're turned away because they were close to closing. Today I finally got inside to order. "A Chicken Shawarma and fries," I requested from the lady, "and a Falafal wrap for my wife, please. Paid and waited for the order to be bagged and went home looking forward to a nice meal. WHAT A DISSAPOINTMENT ! First, there were no fries, sadly because they might have been the best part of the meal. The chicken shawarma was mostly a wilted salad with tasteless shaved chicken on top. Mediterranean food is among the best in the world, Mr Shawarma is middle of the road, we ordered the lamb gyro, felafel and a side of kibbeh (hope i spelled that right), again just decent, tasted like a dish you can make at home. The kibbeh was my fave of the three, wish they served it with a sauce on the side, that would've put it over the top. The service here was very good, place was well kept, prices were predictable. I wouldn't mind trying some of their other dishes in the future, but for now it's a borderline 3 star restaurant. read more

Great place, very good food at a phenomenal price for what you receive. The staff are kind and friendly. The dining room is a touch on the smaller side but this is traditionally street food and more of a takeout style. Good food. We enjoyed it. I had a lamb gyro and wifey had the falafel plate. The falafel tastes good and had a pretty neat appearance. Round like small donuts in shape almost and had sesame seeds on top. Always cool when the food doesn't just taste good but has a nifty presentation as well. I like how the falafel looked. The gyro was delicious. They also gave us some pita bread with the order. My only suggestion would be that the pita bread be warmed before being served. For $14 I don't think this was worth it but to each their own. I would recommend going somewhere that doesn't over charge. It started when she told me it was false advertisement on their website . The lady at the register was very rude when I asked her about the plate she started to scream at me in front of the guest when I simply asked her. If there was a "side salad" with my order and she replied " that's called a plate! Everything online is wrong and we change the menu daily." So when I looked at the in store menu and it wasn't an option and she told me that, you have to specifically ask for a plate and asked why I am being mean? Am I not allowed to ask questions about what I saw on their website. I was trying to help a guest order his food in the process of her screaming at me and told him that the bowl only comes with chicken and rice if you get the plate it comes with hummus and salad and your choice of protein with a side of rice and the lady started going off even more and the man felt so uncomfortable that he ended up walking out. I ended up getting half my money back but she was still screaming at me and towards the end she says. " I'm having a bad day so I'm sorry." And I told her that she shouldn't put her anger on the customers because her bad day has NOTHING to do with me. I will no longer give a dime to this restaurant. Mr. Shawarma is a quaint restaurant off 9th Avenue just a minute from Cordova mall with a couple tables for inside seating and delicious Mediterranean cuisine. We ordered two lamb shawarma wraps at 9.99 each, a delicious chicken shawarma over greens (with fresh vegetables sweet peppers, onions, lightly dressed) at 9.99, and a large fry which was more than enough for the four of us to share at 4.99. The shawarma wraps were fresh and delicious, as was the salad, which was perfectly dressed and refreshing yet filling. I am so, so happy I've discovered Mr. Shawarma! Since moving to Pensacola I've hunted around for a spot that reminded me of home, and this is it. The delivery service has been fast and reliable, and when I've driven over to pick up an order the food was brought out to my car. The staff is super courteous and friendly, and took time to explain updates to their menu. The food is so yummy! The hummus is delicious, the falafel is hot and light, never greasy, the baklava is dense and yummy and the perfect treat. I want to try everything on the menu, twice. One of my favorite tells for a great restaurant is when there are English speaking customers as well as customers speaking other languages: everybody happy, brought together for delicious food. Normally I save my five star reviews for fine dining or something out of this world but this small little shop deserves all five stars. I've never had Shawarma before, but I am a huge fan now. I was leaving Pensacola and wanted to grab a quick bite to eat with my son before I headed to the airport. I have tried for years to convince my son to eat Shawarma, but he always declined. But my persistence paid off because we stopped off here and ordered the chicken Shawarma and falafel. My son tried the shawarma and I had the falafel both came with fresh made french fries. The Shawarma was so tasty I couldn't believe it came from this very small sandwich shop, it tasted like it should be in fine dining. And the falafel was the best I've ever had, and I've eaten a lot of falafel. It wasn't overly dried nor was it overly cooked, and it was season just perfectly. After I made it home, my son told me that he and his friends visited this sandwich place to enjoy more shawarma. read more

UPDATE: Restaurant has changed ownership and the recipes are not the same, prices have increased, and portions are now smaller. I'm changing my previous 5 star rating to a 3 star rating because the last 3 times I visited since the change in ownership I've been extremely disappointed. Each time, the rice inside of the grape leaves was hard and lacked flavor. The grape leaves used to be one of my favorite items. Also, their grape leaves now cost more and you receive less. I've visited about three or four times since they have changed ownership, but now I won't be going back. Mr. Shawarma used to be one of my favorite places to enjoy lunch. @mr.shawarma850 had the best shawarma, grape leaves, kibbeh, hummus, tabouleh, baklava, and more; However, now Chef Nader and his tasty recipes are gone. read more

How incredibly good was this!!! Everything was fresh, the falafel was friggin' amazing and the shwarma (have i slaughtered the spelling..or what)was so flavourful. Finally - an amazing & fresh Mediterranean restaurant in Pensacola!!! This place exceeds all expectations. The salad and tabouli are super fresh. It's made every day. But make sure to get there early cause once it's sold out - it's gone!!! Ask for kibbi - it's not on the menu but it's to die for! The falafel is fried to perfection. Today, my boyfriend and I finally made a point of stopping at Mr. Shawarma for lunch and the only thing I'm disappointed about is that I live so close and haven't been here before. Alexandra greeted us at the counter with a warm, friendly attitude and patiently answered our questions about their menu. We decided to each get the chicken shawarma wrap, I added hummus and tatziki to mine. I also ordered falafel, hummus and stuffed grape leaves so my boyfriend could try a little of it all. They have vegetarian options, beef and lamb, as well. The food came out super quick while we sat in their charming space. It might not be right for a large party (you can order delivery for a large groups, though) but it was great for a lunch date! My husband and I stopped in for a lunch two weekends ago since we happened to be on that side of town. My husband wanted to eat beef Shawarma (if the shoe fits); however they were out of it? He ordered the toshka not knowing what in the world he was going to get. It turned out to be very similar to a beef quesadilla, and it was yum! It came with french fries and a side salad. The portion was huge! I ordered the falafel sandwich. Again, it was ginormous. Either of those orders would have fed two people; so we had enough for four people! And we ordered the hummus as well. If you love authentic middle eastern food, this place's Shawarma will disappoint you. They put a couple little bits of pickle. No onion, no pickled turnips, no tomato and garlic sauce is more of a tasteless paste. I've had chicken from this location twice and it was extremely dry both times. To the point the skin was hard and sharp. The grape leaves were pretty good and the staff was very nice. read more
