The customer service is top notch, the greeter is sweet &' kind &' she makes sure you are well taken care of as soon as you enter and while you are eating she is attentive. I have tried the pulled pork and the ribs &' they are amazing , I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu so much flavor in every bite. Clean restrooms. The decor - well it's a theme of police, sheriff, firefighters and military service. Food - I had the sliced brisket sandwich. Plenty of lean meat but it was dry. Over cooked. I can't say enough good things about this place! Everything I ate was delicious! Lean brisket, turkey, collards, green beans, fries...all wonderful. What also stands out is the service and the staff. They greet you when you come in, smile when they take your order, and walk around checking on you as you enjoy your meal. My husband was in the hospital for 2 weeks so I ate there multiple times. The friendliness of the staff was so appreciated as I was navigating a tough situation. On my last visit, after learning my husband was in the hospital, they surprised me with a strawberry shortcake (also delicious). The guy serving my food was grinning ear to ear when he surprised me with it. Little acts of kindness go a long way--especially during tough times. I took every family member and friend who came to visit us to eat here. I will visit this place every time I am in Pensacola. Woke up this morning with a mission: find good BBQ in Pensacola. That's harder than spotting a stealth bomber, but Yelp told me Mission BBQ at Cordova Mall was rocking 5 stars. Orders received. When I rolled up, the first impression screamed "corporate." I had flashbacks of Sonny's BBQ... but this ain't no Sonny's, Son. This food hits harder than a bunker buster. Inside, the vibe caught me off guard--in a good way. Patriotic to the core, with shadow-boxed uniforms, challenge coins built into the tables, and a salute to service everywhere you look. It's clean enough to pass a white-glove inspection, thanks to staff who are constantly sweeping the battlefield of BBQ sauce and crumbs. Counter service? Sharp as a drill team. Friendly, smiling, quick. Exactly what you want when you're hungry and on patrol for meat. Then the food hit the table: chicken, pork, brisket, mac-n-cheese, collard greens--and, as a bonus, hand-cut fries dropped in by the squad. Oh, baby, Pensacola is not what I would consider a BBQ mecca, but Mission really could show some of those other joints how it's done. My wife got the brisket sandwich, naturally, and I had the envie for ribs. She got a side of fries to share. The fries were exceptional, but they were not the star of the show. I tasted her brisket, and it was on point! I picked up a rib and saw that I was only holding a bone. All the meat fell completely off! They were absolutely perfect! There were a half dozen sauces on the table, and I dipped the french fries in each, from Texas to West Virginia and all points in between. They were delicious, but I leaned toward Texas. Fries are some of the best-- almost like they're fried to cook them and then get a quick dip in even hotter oil to make sure they're crispy on the outside, but still soft inside. Mac n cheese...love it when they have browned cheese on top! Literally tasted like something my grandmother would make. Collard greens are pretty spicy (they don't call them kickin' for no reason!), but have excellent flavor. Pulled pork is a massive portion. It had a great flavor. Only complaint was that it was so "pulled", some of the bites were almost stringy. Not a big complaint, though. Dropped in here on a spur of the moment, wanting something quick. My first visit. As others have noted; you're greeted upon entering and ordering was quick and easy. Since, i wasn't that hungry, I ordered the smoked cheeseburger. Food was brought to the table. First, i should have ordered their BBQ , as I found the burger, which had a great taste... dry. On hindsight, Im not sure you could actually serve a "juicy" smoked burger, as the smoke would tend to dry out a meat like that. Went to mission bbq for the first time. Had the brisket sandwich. It was "okay" but nothing overly memorable! They really need to cut the meat thinner. It's just too thick for a sandwich. They give a nice amount but definitely need's to be thinner. Service was good but the person at the register who took our order was clueless on what was good or popular. They simply wanted to take the order and move on. The wait staff was very friendly and did have more knowledge of the restaurant. The restaurant has a nice feel with a nice tribute to the military services with pictures everywhere. Overall I would say we will give it another try or two and try different menu items. read more

I like the format where you order your meat a la carte and sides or if you want a combo, you pick your meat then add a combo item, which is a side(s) and drink, to the meat. I order the ribs, which you can pick your size. I picked the five bone ribs. Added the XL combo, which is one side (green beans) and a drink. They call your name when the order is ready. The service was excellent where a person comes around making sure you have everything you need. On the table, there's like six different bbq sauces. I tried the first one, and it was tasty. Didn't get a chance to try other sauces since the one selected worked well with the ribs. The meat fell right off the bone and I was able to eat the meat with a fork. The green beans were delicious.
