I was passing next to Mr. Shawarma and smelled the food that brought back memories from home. So I decided to give it a try; hopefully, I'll end my journey on finding the best place for authentic shawarma wraps. I tried The Chicken Shawarma , the Beef and Lamb Shawarma, and the Habibi Burger. They're all super delicious and good. My favorite is the chicken shawarma because I grew up eating it back home. The sauces they put with their food is so yummy. No doubt, this is the best Shawarma place in all California or maybe America too. I highly recommend everyone to try it. I was really excited when I first found this place. Amazing food and a really nice owner. HOWEVER - Here's the thing about this place... It's new. There's still a learning curve. So my advice: Pay attention to things and don't be afraid to speak up. Long story short I've been sick and really wanted a good hot meal. The only time I've left the house in three days for was to come here for the beef Shawarma sandwich, because yes it is that good. Somehow, he gave away my food or forgot what it was - i'm not really sure and he didn't know either. Three minutes shy of 30 minutes and after 20 questions I finally left with my food after standing outside in 46° for one simple sandwich - that I paid for. - - - So I get there and park (3 cars from the food truck - detail will be important later), get out and placed my order, stood there for 5 minutes, then went in my car for just 5 minutes. It was cold, I was sick. He was cooking. Other people are waiting in their cars also so no big deal, right? Besides mine was literally 10 feet away. If you farted inside the food truck I probably would've heard it that's how close I was. After only 5 minutes I came back out of the car and stood there again in front of the food truck for another 15 minutes. At 25 minutes I still haven't got my food and after watching person after person go by, I finally looked up to him waiting for him to look at me so I could figure out where my food was. Finally looked at me and asked me if I wanted to order something. Are you serious?? What ensued was ridiculous... Look I'm not trying to get picky, but it's an empty gas station parking lot on the other side of town, there's only seven people in the parking lot and I've already been there for 25 minutes. I'm 6'1, white, with blue eyes and red hair and a large red beard, wearing a solid white baseball cap... i'm pretty hard to miss! when I told him what I ordered all I got was a deer in headlights look and lots of silly questions: really? You ordered here? What did you order? When did you order it? Have you been here the whole time? How long have you been waiting? Honestly I was shocked how dismayed he was that I had placed an order that I didn't get it, meanwhile we we were 3 minutes shy of a half hour. It was just absolutely absurd that I'm standing there outside cold as anything having to go through this song and dance with him and whoever else is with him inside the food truck all over 1 beef shawarma sandwich. Just give me the damn food or refund my money. We're three minutes shy of a half an hour and this is absurd. Thank goodness the guy next to me he must have known what happened.. they began speaking in their native tongue so I didn't know what they said but whatever he said must've helped me because finally he agreed to make one for me. At this point I was so irritated that I had to go through this explanation as I stood outside approaching half an hour just to get my sandwich that I was pondering just asking for a refund and leaving. I guess he just screwed someone else over took their food out of the bag and handed to me and said here take this she just made it. No she didn't it was someone else's I watched you take it out of the bag. That's fine and all, but come on man just sorry here take this shrug it off and that's it? Doubt I'll be back after that. Look it's just a sandwich and it's just a food truck and although it's great food and this really wasn't the hugest deal, you messed up so fix it. Instead of ripping someone else's out of the bag and handing to me and acting like everything is daisies and shrugging it off. I can think of better way to spend my time and money than stand outside in the cold for almost 30 minutes to get 1 sandwich. You want advice? USE A NUMBERING SYSTEM. CALL OUT THE NUMBER ON EACH RECEIPT AS ITS READY. And if you mess up enough maybe consider comping the meal or something, anything would be better than what happened. Lastly, if people pull up to your truck and park like a**holes - ask them to move. I was almost blocked in by a jerk who pulled up half blocking off the parking spots on the side, and the customers waiting didn't seem to give a crap. I was looking for a Gyro and Yelp led me to Mr. Shawarma! While following the map location, I didn't realize I was pulling up to a Food Truck. Didn't bother me a bit as it had a lot of positive reviews and during the COVID restrictions, we were looking for something to go! When I arrived I noticed a lot of people standing around... most were picking up for food deliveries for people. We went with a mix of Combo's that include the Beef and Chick Shawarma wraps. Waited about 15-20 mins but it was worth it. I appreciated them taking all the needed precautions while preparing the orders (as we could see them) and everything was packed perfectly for the ride home. The meat was seasoned great and not too salty and nothing was missed as we had a pretty big order. Note, they are cash only but I saw a few people hit the ATM machine up in the gas station as they are parked curbside! I have been wanting to stop by Mr. Shawarma's food truck forever and I finally did. It was great! I love falafels and it's hard to find them made the way I'm used to with the cabbage, tahinis, pickles, hot sauce etc. I liked how they rolled it and cut it up in pieces like a sushi roll (but bigger obviously). It made it easy to easy some now and save some for later. Although it wasn't much later lol because it was so good. It also came with a side of hummus and tzatziki. I got some fries too and I think my whole order was under or around $10! I wasn't looking for a deal, but I got one! I wasn't in a rush but it also only took about 10 minutes. The guy working on the truck was super nice. Great service! He was cleaning everything on the outside windows, menu etc. when I got there. He told me that the chicken needed a little more time, but I said I was all in on the falafel so no worries. The other menu items looked good too. A little different than what you see at a traditional Greek place or Mediterranean place. Plus the food truck aspect was really convenient. Mr. Shawarma's food truck is outside the VP gas station on the corner of Ingraham and La Playa at 4pm every day, I think? I definitely recommend you give them a try! I'll be going back soon!
