I thought I was going crazy periodically getting a whiff of natural gas from time to time just outside the back garage door of our new (old) home. I ended up buying myself a NG sniffer off of Amazon, and sure enough, I found a corroded section of a natural gas supply line at the exterior of our home. I immediately started shopping for a plumber to try and get this issue resolved ASAP. Stephan of Mr. Rooter was the first to pick up the call. Stephan arrived right in the timeframe the dispatcher said he would. He assessed the issue and immediately provided a quote that seemed fair given the work and reassurance that he could have the issue fixed within just a few hours. Sure enough, he did a fantastic job fixing the gas stub section. His work was meticulous, even going above and beyond to wrap the line with some additional protection to ensure I wouldn't run into this issue again. I had a major hot water heater problem, leaking pretty bad. Mr. Rooter came out and set up an appointment to replace it right away. I was concerned about it being left on with the amount of water. Larry came out himself and turned the gas off as that was my biggest concern. I have been a customer since 2014 and have had some large projects done. I have been very happy with their service. The only one time I ever had an issue, as soon as it was brought to their attention it was taken care of. This water heater replacement was a big job due to the age of this house and new building code requirements. Austin Bauman was the technician and I could not be more pleased with his work. He was very courteous and kept me informed throughout the entire process making sure I understood and was satisfied with what was being done. I have an issue with the toilet of my renter property in Tracy, Mr. Rooter came to the house and clear what he called stoppage at toilet (do not know what is that but he charged us $205 and he told me over the phone that the water leaks inside the tank and he needs to change that piece. that piece you can adjusted, but let us say he has to change it, he was going to charge me $175, I told him that piece is $7 at home depot and it takes only less than 5 minutes to change it, he gave me a real good deal by charging me only $95. I am a real estate broker and I will never use them again, It is a RIP OFF, they are a scam and playing of the limited knowledge of consumers. read more

This was the very first time I used Mr. Rooter. I called the company to install a gas line to a fire pit that I was building. It ended up being a complex job. It took several days to complete. What impressed me most was that the service man kept a positive attitude and was determined to complete the job. The company billed me appropriately for labor and parts. I called to get an estimate to replace a tub spout and kitchen faucet. They were unable to give me a price by phone and offered to send a technician. I asked the technician about the cost of the visit and was informed they come out to investigate for free. After inspecting the items, he sat down and gave me quotes to replace both items and then just one. At NO TIME was I informed there was a $191 service fee. Based on the written estimate, it appeared the tub spout was going to cost me $241.36. After convincing us to add the membership, the total cost was $306.96. Keep in mind, they only replaced the tub spout with diverter, NOTHING ELSE. I decided to check prices online and found the same part was priced $16-$25. When I called to question them, I received a call back from the technician trying to explain their overhead costs to me. I would not recommend this company. If you decide to use their service, make sure you get ALL information upfront before you authorize the work. read more

I used their web page to request service for a licking bathtub on Thursday. Within an hour their scheduler called and schedule a tech for Friday. Plumbers are always late but the scheduler continually called me with updates. When Joshua arrived he was clean, professional, knowledgeable and did an excellent job. Pricing...well I can't say they were unreasonable or reasonable but they were laid out on a chart so you know what exactly you're paying for. I really liked that. I am a first time customer of Mr.Rooter, and I highly recommend calling them if you live in Tracy, and have a plumbing crisis. Over the last few weeks, we had discovered that our toilets were draining slowly, and starting to have bubbles come up, like a fish tank. So we called a different plumber and they cleared the line, twice. But we knew something was not right, so we then heard about Mr.Rooter and gave them a call. Bob came out promptly, in a timely manner. He knew the problem, and after determining a plan of action, he knew he would have to excavate to find the problem with the sewer line. He came back promptly, when he was able to do the job. Bob was able to get to the bottom of the problem, it turned out to be a defective sewer line connector, which is the part that connects the plastic pipe, to the clay pipe. I highly recommend Bob, he came out in a timely fashion, was courteous, polite, and extremely knowledgeable of the problem. Tried everything to fix it ourselves. Finally I got the name and phone number of the preferred plumber to our community. It took a while and I was prepared for it to be bad. But Mark came out at about 11:30 AM and left around 4 PM. He had to completely cut out all the piped from under our sink snake the lines to to main system and it still wouldn't clear. Well after years of former owners dumping grease down the drains it ended up to he had to Jet scrub all of our plumbing lines. I was given an estimate of $634.00 to replace a main water shut-off valve. The technician Josh Celestine seemed like a good man so I trusted him enough to give me a fair price. He told me they do not charge by the hour but charge for the job. He never showed me the pricing on his book. I told him that we live paycheck to paycheck and this will put us in a financial burden for the month. He dropped the price down to $500.00. Clearly. this tells me that he's not being honest about their pricing and just calculated numbers and see if I bite. Due to time constraint and we needed water I decided to have him do it.. I should have suspected something was amiss when they wouldn't even give me a ballpark estimate for a simple job; they insisted they HAD to send someone to look. All I needed was to have my gas dryer connected. After I had to move the dryer myself so he could get behind to look at it (and he told me I had an electric dryer!!!), he quoted me $357 and change. For a job I know takes less than 30 minutes with a $33 installation kit. I was happy to pay the $49.50 to get him out of my house. What a racket. read more

I had a great experiance with this company. I had been dealing with a back up sewer line for a few days with another plumbing comany. They dug up my yard, replaced pipes and left me without a bathroom for almost three whole days. Then I finally decided to call Mr. Rooter. The plumber that responded was awesome. He put a camera down the sewer line and found a clean out lid in the pipe. The lid perfectly closed off the pipe and was causing the sewage to back up. With the help of the Public Works department and Mr. Rooter's camera they were able to finally free the clean out lid. That was over two months ago and I haven't had a problem since. I meant to write this review much earlier, but just didn't get around to it. But they definately left a lasting impression. This company charges more than 400.00 more than other reputable plumbers in the area to replace a water heater. However, if you think you can't wait and can afford the cost, then go ahead and have Mr Rooter do the work. They responded quickly and were professional. The young man who did the work, Manuel, was super courteous and very dedicated to doing things the way they should be done. I couldn't have had a better person doing the work. Terrible Service. I felt cheated by them. The Guy not only did not finish the job, he kept increasing the price. He showed me the book with the hourly price. He only accomplished digging the dirt (took the whole day?? really) and did not do any repair of the pipe. That cost me 492 dollars. When I canceled the job, I got another 114 dollars charge?? Be ware. The technician was too slow so that he can charge hourly. I could dig this dirt in 1 hour myself. I had no confidence in him and thus canceled the job. Too expensive for a job someone else charge half and get the job done on time. I finally decided to go with local company and get it fixed in 1 day for same money that I paid Mr. Rooter for digging the dirt in my front yard. read more

I hired Mr. Rooter to come out and extensively check our pipes and their condition, due to some outlandish claims of broken pipes made by Knight's Plumbing, aka Rooter Pro. Unlike Knight's, this company was professional from beginning to end. They came when they said they would. They phoned me to tell me that their plumber was going to be at my house at the scheduled time, and he was ! He arrived promptly, and promptly went to work, explaining as he went everything he was doing. He showed me that I had NO damage, as had been claimed by the crooks at Knight's Plumbing. He went over some minor problems, but assured me there would be no big rush as the repairs were not critical in nature.
