Loved it. We'd been…read moreto the Memphis, TN location about 10 years ago and enjoyed it. Now that we live in the DFW area, it was time to try the Fort Worth location. They are located on a corner and parking is limited. I found street parking on the side street, about a block down in front of a house. We walked inside Gus's about 11:30 am on a Wednesday. They were busy' but had a number of open tables. There are mostly square and rectangular 4-top tables. We chose one by the front windows. A moment after we sat down, our server, Joe K came by to greet us and he took our drink order. Menu's are at the table, so we studied a bit and were ready for Joe when he brought our drinks. I ordered: - Unsweetened Iced Tea - 3 Piece Dark Chicken Plate (my choice: leg, leg, thigh) with Greens and BBQ Beans My wife ordered: 2 Piece White Chicken Plate (breast, wing) with Mac-Cheese and BBQ Beans The chicken was the star for sure. The BBQ Beans weren't special but were decent. The Greens, decent. With each meal plate, the chicken is served on a slice of white bread. The chicken was fried to a deep brown and was real tasty. My dark meat was juicy and tender. My wife's white meat was drier but normal for white meat. My wife's felt the chicken skin was maybe overcooked as it was tough. It was fine to me. I ate her skin :) We'll be back to Gus's!

Great company. Good food. The wait was very long. But it was worth the wait. Meat was so crispy,…read morethe green were sweeter than I ever had them. Everyone's different, not saying they were bad. Just different. And the Mac was not my favorite. Once I saw they pour the bag of Mac n cheese in a heater. Then I was like ahh. I just figured it would be home made like the pies and chicken. Our waiter was sweet and we even had dessert. Recommend the chocolate pie warmed with ice cream. Love. Definitely not too bad. Will come back again. And try different sides.

If you are in Texas, go straight to this place! Such a great spot in Roanoke! The concept is…read morewonderfully simple: you choose your protein, and the preset sides are served family-style for everyone to share. The atmosphere is casual, comfortable, and homey, which is exactly what makes it so charming. Because it was our first visit, they gave us a Babe's Roanoke Fun Facts sheet explaining the history of the building and the backstories/meaning behind the decor. It was such a fun touch and made the experience feel even more special. We were also amazed by how quickly everything arrived. we sat down and literally had our food within seven minutes! The food was delicious! We literally felt like we were having Sunday dinner at grandma's house. And our waitress, Jurnee, made the experience even better with her amazing service. We had such a fun time and will definitely be back!

Service began with a biscuit and a "salad", which was simply chopped iceberg, lettuce with some type of vinaigrette. Dressing was good, but salad lame - IMO it'd be a better experience if they would simply serve coleslaw. The chicken itself (four pieces mixed) was fine, but nothing extraordinary. The mashed potatoes and gravy were very flavorful, the corn was ok. In the end, you're served a healthy amount of food and it is overall tasty, but nothing really noteworthy for me.

I had been DYING to come try this spot out after all the rave reviews, and I am GLAD I did. We…read moredecided to come prior to a concert we were going to at the AT&T Stadium. I have to stay this beat any stadium food you could've gotten out the water, and the value emphasizes that! We got so much food for the price point, and it was all good! I personally got the chicken and pickle on a stick, and the dough babies which is a glazed donut / roll hybrid that is so delicious and warm, the glaze is very vanilla forward. Krispy Kreme has nothing on these. The chicken on a stick was good, however, the flavor was a bit too sweet for me, so I would get the powdered Nashville hot seasoning on it next time, but it was so delicious and came with some really good ranch that taste like it's made in house (which obviously makes it better!). My mom who I was dining with got the quarter pound chicken plate, and I much preferred the seasoning on this chicken, but it was all very yummy. It also came with a roll, two sauces, and tons of fresh cut fries, so if you're looking for some of those you don't have to wait for the fair just come to Mary Sue's! The young lady working the register was very sweet, when we ordered our beverages I wanted to get a watermelon, Arnold Palmer, and she was happy to oblige, and the drinks even had fresh fruit in the bottom super refreshing to pair with the meal. There's an array of different hot sauces. You can try to pair with your food, at a hot sauce, bar and some of them are HOT, so proceed with caution, but it's fun to be able to have a variety of choices. They weren't slammed when we came in, we were able to order easily, and there was a steady trickle of people dining within the place, yet the tables were regularly open, and being cleaned as able. They really play into the location, and had some music playing relevant to the concert we were going to which was a nice little pregame! As we were dining, the co-owner was even making rounds throughout the lobby and chatting with patrons, we talked to him for a bit, and there's so much passion behind the business that it's hard not to just feel joy being in his presence and having a meal. I'm wishing continued success to the establishment, and know this is the place I have in mind next time I'm in the area. Be sure to check the hours on Google, just to make sure you're able to go enjoy it when you're ready, because the ones on the door don't align. There's also ample parking so you don't need to worry about that, and the lot doubles as paid parking for events.
