wow this place is amazing...no lie. The place itself is cute with booths and storefront window seating. The menu is small but I have a strong desire to try everything on it. I had the quarter chicken (delicious) with fried yukka (didn't know what to expect...they are amazing! like french fries but way better) and plaintains (i think I'll try the sweet ones next time). Thanks for the recommendations from the other reviewers. Quite friendly people who work there. The woman I ordered from is bilingual so no stress there (i have really got to learn spanish if i'm going to live in this neighborhood). My meal was filling without being heavy and with a jarritos was $7.50. I'm thrilled this place is in my neighborhood.

Had a great lunch with friends here yesterday . The spot is a little confusing when you first walk…read morein... there's a patio with a food truck and outdoor seating . You can sit outside or grab a menu and go inside . The inside has about 8 tables that fit 4 people each . Inside there is a table with utensils and water glasses as well for help yourself service . You order at the food truck window and grab a seat. They brought our food inside to us on a tray. We ordered the rope vieja, steak jibaritos, and flautas . Everything was very good but I especially loved the flautas with the consome. It was absolutely delicious and very unique, I drank the leftover consome because it was that good . Just poor everything in one big bowl . The flautas keep their crisp even when swimming in the broth . I liked the shredded Munster cheese on the jibarito and loved the green sauce . Sooo good!! The restaurant is byob and we brought mixes for bloody Mary's and some beers. It was nice to enjoy the meal and not feel rushed . I really enjoyed the experience, good music playing and kind service . Definitely recommend

I had such an amazing experience at Omarcitos today…read more I stumbled across an IG reel of this food spot, and I immediately knew I had to check them out. The cafe has such an interesting set up. You order from what appears to be a food truck, and there is an outdoor (open concept) and indoor seating. We ordered the steak sandwich and ropa vieja plate. The steak sandwich was DELICIOUS. The bread was crispy, and the meat was flavorful and juicy. The sandwich also paired so well with their garlic side sauces. The Ropa vieja was also so insanely yummy. The beef was so juicy and savory. The garlic rice was also so yummy. I'm not a huge fan of plantains, but the plantains were actually pretty decent! Overall, I had an excellent experience at Omarcitos. I cannot wait to come back once it gets warmer!!

We ended up trying several of their cocktails and there were no misses for us. Imagine our surprise when we found out La Licor does happy hour! Even though there were other tables were filled and music was playing, I appreciated the bar wasn't too loud and I was able to hear my friend. Top five bar fries in Chicago for me!

I came here on a Saturday night around 5:30pm with a reservation, there were two of us…read more We were sat but our reservation was not acknowledged by the open table website. You definitely need a reservation after 6:30pm as it got pretty crowded but the bar was empty. The restaurant was not too loud, the tables were very uncomfortable to sit at due to the center of the table being a wooden stump like object. Which made it hard to push your seat in, and the table was wobbly. They also turn the lights off mostly, which actually makes for a great vibe. Other than the uncomfortable seats and tables. They have a lot of drinks, specifically cocktails with unique flavor profiles, using green peppers and corn in drinks. I started with trying the two frozen beverages one was a ginger drink and the other was a sweet milky corn beverage, both unique, not for me. But it was so nice they allowed us to try them. We got the empanada trio (beef, chicken, and veggie). The veggie was very corn forward, almost only corn and some spices. If you love corn you'd love the food and drinks. We also got chorizo arepas which were tasty, but the sliced chorizo didn't seem to match the bite of the arepas. It may have made more sense to have had crumbling chorizo on the arepas. And finally we had the yuca fries, which case with a thick sauce and cojita cheese. They were very good. I asked for a side of hot sauce, it was a mild sauce but it was good. Seemingly homemade. The service was okay, it took a while to get a drink, then to actually get the drink took a long time, and then trying to order and leave took a while. It wasn't a bad experience. This place was featured on the travel network as a must try. If you want to try something new, love corn, definitely recommend.
