We ordered over the phone and it was very easy.The gyro lamb was outstanding.I had a side of lentil soup and my husband ordered the falafel platter which had 4 on top of hummus.The hummus is well worth it.We asked for great leaves instead of the mixed vegetables and no problem to substitute. I only come here when I am craving a falafel or gyros and am on this side of town. It is located in front of Burlington Coat Factory, but behind the UPS store. It was hard for me to find to begin with. They do have lunch and daily specials. When you order, they really pile on the food. I have noticed that their food can be hit or miss. At times it is piping hot where as others it seems to be cold and blah. Like I said, this is only the place I go to when I am not willing to drive across town for mediterranean goodies. It is a very clean store and has a great layout. The staff is normally friendly and helpful. I have watched them try to explain their food and taste to random customers. Kind of cute to be honest. This place is fantastic. My co-workers introduced me to Mr Kebab a few weeks ago and I've already been here twice. I'd call this an upscale casual restaurant since you place your order at the counter and then go pick up your food. The lunch special is reasonably priced and they give you so much food it's hard to finish it all. The rice is fragrant, the chicken is moist, the hummus is nicely prepared and the side options are plentiful. My co-worker loves their grape leaves and falafel in particular. Also, the staff is very courteous. I complimented one of the employees on how delicious their food was and he told me I am welcome any time which I thought was sweet. After I read the reviews and as I looked around while I waited on my food, I couldn't help but wonder if these people know about Zainna's. Yes, this place is in a good location. It is a bit tucked away in the strip of small shops, in front of Burlington Coat Factory, next door to Dunkin Donuts. The lunch specials were just a few options. I chose the felafel meal, which came with two felafels served on top of hummus, a pita and a choice of one side item. Honestly, the food just wasn't good. They warmed the felafels up in the microwave, right in front of me and I was already frowning on that before I even got my meal. The hummus was quite bland and not served to me the way that another photo posted here looked. The pita bread was cold and hard, they should've thrown the pita bread in the microwave with my felafels while they were at it. The place was clean, I will give them that. But there's just too many other, better Mediterranean options in town for this one to get any more than one visit and two stars from me. read more

I like Mr. Kabab, I really do. I regularly get hummus to-go, just for snacks at home. It's so much better than anyplace Ive tried in town, and far superior to the prepackaged stuff. The last time I went, however, the hummus wasn't quite as tasty. Hopefully just an off day. One improvement I'd love to see is made-to-order felafel. They heat the cold felafel in the microwave, which doesn't leave it with the best texture. I love the pickles and onions that come atop the meals. So tasty. These guys really excel at presentation. Every meal I've ever ordered is picture perfect. The staff is hit-or-miss. If really depends on who's working. Most of them are super nice. A couple of them are icy and abrupt. Great bang for your buck. They gave me a TON of food. Unfortunately the meat had been sitting on the vertical spit for a while so it was pretty dry. The rice was a little dry as well because it had been sitting out (granted I went at 3pm on the 2nd of January so I kinda expected it but was hoping the food was a little more moist and fresh). I also got their cheese pie which, unfortunately, had been sitting for a while. It was tasty even though it had been sitting out...I'm sure fresh it would have been amazing. Since Lexington is devoid of Mediterranean food (compared to LA), this is a place I wouldn't mind coming back to. Ok, so I had a bunch of errands in and around the Richmond Rd/Old Todds Rd area of Lexington. I spotted a Chipotle and spun around to stop in there, when I saw across from them is a Mr. Kabab, so I thought I would try something new. One Star... Basically I waited for a good while (20 minutes and only 2 people in front fo me) in a short line, only to find out the person at the front had called ahead and placed her order, so they held up placing other folks' orders till they finished filly hers? Something isn't right about that. Finally got to place my order, which I was just going to build my lunch from combining 3 sides (Kibbe, Chicken Wrap and Spinach pie), 2 of the 3 items they ran out of (mind you this is 12:20pm in the afternoon).... So I placed an order for a meat pie, Spinach pie and a Falafel. Took another 20 minutes and finally the guy just dumps the pies and the falafel (from where they were sitting under the heat lights the who time) in paper bag and hands it to me. Took so long to order and get the food, I had to pretty much eat it on my ride back to the office. All of the food was cold and the pies literally fell apart in my hands. This place really doesn't care about their food or the people that keep them in business. Last $6.89 I'll spend there. read more

My daughter and I love this place! I am a Mediterranean food kind of girl! Do I am always happy with Mr. Kabab! They have recently remodeled and I am feeling the new look. The food presentation is always nice and the food tastes great. Of course, I am still feeling my way around Lexington for the perfect Gyro... I have yet to find the 5 start Mediterranean spot, but they deserve at least 4 stars! I'm all about the lamb gyro at Mr. Kabob's. It used to be $5.29. Last I knew it had gone up to $5.99, but it doesn't matter. To get that much meat on a sandwich(es) at Arby's, you'd be looking at $15.00, easy. In a way, I hate that I'm so stuck on it. The other items I see in the hot case look great, but I'm so stuck on the gyro I can't bring myself to get anything else. One important tip - get extra tzatziki sauce as you'll need to pour on some more when you've gotten about halfway into this monstrosity. My wife and I met a friend at here for lunch today. Our guest had a craving for some Mediterranean food and so we decided on Mr. Kabab. I had been once before, but neither of them had. Mr. Kabab met the craving. Solid, tasty and affordable. We ordered platter #8 (I can't remember the name) to share. It was $20 and you definitely get your money's worth. You can go with all kabab, all (beef/chicken) shawarma, or a combination. We went with the kabab. The beef kabab was the best. Flavor and texture was great. The chicken kabab was tasty, just a little too salty. The hummus was outstanding, but the flat bread was ok; not much flavor and a little too stiff. Mr. Kabab is ok. Maybe because I grew up enjoying various Mediterranean dishes all over Los Angeles, I'm a little hard, but I know what I like. Mr. Kabab is quick, affordable, and good overall. If you're in the mood for Mediterranean food and want a quick and affordable lunch, this is the place to go. If you're looking for a nice place to take a friend/date for a Mediterranean dinner, I would look elsewhere. read more

I cannot stress how amazing this place is..just amazing! I had the falafel gyro and yellow rice. TONS of food and all of it amazing! The gyro had about 6 pieces of falafel, tiny thinly sliced pickles, purple onion and tomato with a delish garlic sauce PLUS tzatziki. It was huge and so flavorful!!! The yellow rice was a little dry but they added a garlic sauce on the side which made it delish. I tried the homemade baklava and it was THE BEST I have ever had. On another visit last week I had a spinach pie which I also found super tasty and delicious. I am not one to go overboard on praising a restaurant so that means Mr. Kabab is pretty special for me to rave this way! The staff is also very very friendly. I wasn't sure how I wanted my gyro and the man who took my order was very patient with me. I could eat here weekly! I also wanted to add they DO have fountain drinks because someone else said they do not. I am not sure if they just added them?? Customer service-0. Food-highly priced for their very average, low quality food. Overall, -10. The gentleman, or should I say man, because he had zero manners(seemed to be a part owner of some sort taking orders from an older gentleman across the restaurant) was very short and seemed annoyed they had customers at all like we were interrupting something. The whole place made us cringe. They definitely didn't know their way around a cleaning cabinet. We were the only customers at the time and they made us very very uncomfortable. What a great find! I recently ventured over to Mr Kabob for their lunch time special and they have really great Mediterranean food. There was a lot to choose from and we had a large group they easily accommodated. A large lunch plate is $7.55 and includes a main entree with 2 sides. You order at the front and then watch them put together your dish (cafeteria style). I don't know how they kept all of our orders straight but we got to enjoy our meal all together. Mr Kabab is consistently the best Mediterranean food in the city. Atmosphere: They revamped the place a few years ago and now it looks awesome inside. They have big ornate brightly lit decorations and they always have some sort of middle eastern music programming on the TV. Service: At first they can seem rather brusque, but don't mistake they're lack of chattiness with a lack of service as they're great about getting you exactly what you want. Falafel: No one has as good falafel as Kabab's. I've tried 4 places in Lexington and their falafel is always crisp and green on the inside and the most savory of all. Shaworma: This is the mediterranean equivalent of Pad Thai as far as a good dish to get started with if you've never tried this kind of food before. Shredded chicken or beef and you get can get it in a sandwich, over rice, or even just a big plate of shaworma over a cut up shaworma sandwich if you're super hungry. Kababs: The eponymous kababs are all tasty and juicy. I'm quite partial to the lamb skewer. If you're eating as a couple, you might consider the Ultimate Mashawi platter which has enough food, realistically, for like three people. Hummus: Delicious hummus that they've started adding oil to, so now it eclipses Oasis as the best hummus in Lexington. Other sides: I've had the tabouli, the cucumber salad, and the yogurt salad and all three are equally good. I normally have to get a side of falafel with my shaworma. The grape leaves are fantastic, if a bit pricey. Dessert: They have fantastic baklava that is just dripping with honey, and I usually can't even look at it by the time I'm done with all the other stuff, but the few times I've gotten it, its been amazing. Wow! Fresh food for lunch! They had just restocked everything And it was delicious. The guy (maybe owner) was so nice. I am very pregnant and due in one week. He saw that I didnt have enough money on me by two dollars and told me to please not worry about it. I told him I could run to my car and grab more and he heavily insisted that money wasn't a concern, and he would accept my money even being short. He was so nice and the food was so great. I am so pleased with this experience that I had to review it, even though I have never left a review before for any restaurant. I was satisfied with Mr. Kabab but I really thought it would be better. Don't get me wrong, it was perfectly fine, and if Sahara wasn't so outrageously good, I'd probably be more than just lukewarm on this place. I like that they serve lunch portions all day, every day. That scores big points with me. The grilled chicken skewers were very good and obviously grilled fresh, and the tabbouleh that I selected as the side was great. Rice was okay, but kind of standard, and a touch dry. The pita was not made in-house, but was still good and a steal at $0.25 per piece. The garlic sauce was freakin' addictive. My one gripe is that the dining room was messy and tables were not wiped down. I can totally overlook this in the middle of a lunch rush, but at 4:30 on a weekday?! They had a good two or three hours to wipe the tables down and sweep the floors after the lunch crowd thinned out. This is just laziness in my opinion. It would take all of about 10 minutes to straighten the joint up. C'mon guys, just do it for your customers who like to eat on a clean table. I will try it again because I love this type of cuisine, it is reasonably close to my house and the food is pretty solid. I may opt for take-out next time though. read more

While I cannot speak to any of their vegetarian dishes or appetizers (besides the grape leaves, which are my favorite), their meat dishes are unmatched when it comes to middle eastern cuisine across Lexington. They are craftful with their spices and sauces. We drive across the city to get Mr. Kabab and it is always a treat. If you decide to get kebabs, you may have a tiny bit of a longer wait, since they will grill them fresh for you. The meat has always been good quality and fresh, just as I like it. read more
