Many thanks to fellow Yelper Hadia G for being first to review this place. This is how I learned of its existence.
They sell Middle Eastern savoury pies and desserts and of course their namesake, kaak bread. I got 3 meat pies (Lahm Baajin) which were $1.50 each and a baklava shell filled with ashta cream (Ward El Sham) for $2.50.
The meat pies were a puff pastry topped with tahini and ground meat. It was tasty. One is the perfect size for a snack.
The baklava was crispy and sweet. The ashta was a bit gummier than I'm used to, but it was still delicious.
Service was excellent. The man who served me was so nice. He asked me if it was my first time there and when I said yes, he explained to me what they had. I felt welcomed and would love to return to try other items like their knafeh. They just opened in July 2021.
I love that on the receipt it has the name of the items you ordered. So helpful if you aren't too familiar with the cuisine. I love Middle Eastern desserts, but admittedly don't know the names of the different items. This way I can learn ;)
They are in a strip mall, in between New Town Chinese Food and Super Duper Pizza ;). It's close to the Quickie Mart that has Roberto's Corner in it. There's some free parking in front of the strip mall, but it's limited. read more
