I fully agree with Michael K's review. Carl worked in the same way for us on a two-family house in Brooklyn.

Home Inspection Services

This is an unusual review because I DIDN'T hire Abe! Instead he looked at the listing of a very…read morerough property that I wanted to have inspected, and gave me valuable advice based on the listing's photos. He could have taken the money and made a lot of money from ancillary services, but he instead showed me how buying this top to bottom demo and renovation was not going to pencil out from an investment point of view. He was right, and he saved me both a lot of money and two years' worth of headaches. So thank you Abe for your time, expertise, and frank opinion, all without a fee. They say advice is cheap, but in this case it was invaluable!

As a first time homebuyer, I didn't know what to expect nor how to compare inspection services. But…read moreafter one phone call to Abe, I was pretty set and confident on Abe's Home Inspection Services. Over the phone, he was able to answer all of my queries and gave me a quick run-down of all the different services they provide and an accurate quote for an inspection on the house. He was also able to answer all of my "what-if" questions and ease my nerves by giving me a step-by-step on what to expect. Although my window for inspection was only 7 days, he was also able to squeeze me in for an inspection and got me my report within 3 days! I'm super grateful for that. On the day of the inspection, Abe and Nick let me join in on the process and even encouraged me to take my own notes. Every step of the way was a learning process for me and I gained a ton of new knowledge on structural info, safety, energy saving tips and more on the house. Abe gave me a packet and some goodie bags. The retractable tape measure with sticky notes and pen is really cool. He also put in some candy if you're feeling peckish, some hand sanitizer, flashlight and bandaids--all super useful stuff. Folder includes info packets, and even a final walk through checklist. He'd really thought of everything. Overall, I highly recommend Abe. His inspection gave me valuable insight on the house, and most importantly I gained a peace of mind. It's definitely worth the price!

I only use two inspectors - Estate Inspection Group, Steven Silva is one of them. I will always…read morerecommend with 100 stars if possible. He is helpful and knows his field. I can't tell you how many times I have called to "just ask a question" on an inspection where he wasn't used. ALWAYS helpful and takes the time to explain and problem solve. Wealth of knowledge. As a realtor, we are only as good as the people we surround ourselves with. Thanks to these guys - I am good and always getting better.

We hired Steven Silva with Estate Inspection Group at the recommendation of our realtor and…read morecouldn't be happier we did so! Let's dive in... Responsiveness (5/5): Steven and the team were quick to get us on the schedule (they had next day availability -- which is what we were looking for). Our realtor was shocked he was around last minute and encouraged us to jump at the opportunity to book him. They sent the contract and outline of the services to be rendered right away and we signed and returned it soon after. Payment (5/5): They accepted several forms of payment so it was very easy to address this. We ended up using Zelle which took mere seconds. Service (5/5): The inspection itself lasted a couple of hours. He went through all aspects of the property and pointed everything out. We've heard some inspectors can be a bit detail-lite in an effort to not hinder the sale transaction. This report was instead incredibly thorough. Steven was very transparent about the things he found, highlighting the areas of biggest concern while also explaining the significance of his broader findings especially compared to his standard inspection discoveries. Value (5/5): Given the time spent at the property and the high attention to detail in the final report this was worth every penny. We now have a solid to-do list with priority as to what we will get fixed and addressed -- and when. TL;DR: I would highly recommend Steven and the team and would use them again in a heartbeat on our next property inspection.

Scott and Scott

Scott and Scott were great. I sent in my request and got a call back within an hour. They were…read moreflexible and worked with my own schedule. G. Neil actually called from South Carolina to make sure that my needs were met. They even arranged for an exterminator service to meet us to do a termite inspection. I had to pay them separately, but Scott and Scott made all the arrangements on my behalf. Neil M. was the person who actually did the inspection. Our appointment was for 8:30am. I arrived exactly at 8:30 only to find that Neil had been there for a while and already completed his inspection of the exterior and the grounds. He took time to go over everything he saw with me. I thought it was going to be a generic overview, but there were so many details that he found I could barely remember some of them. Thank goodness for the detailed report (more on that later). Once inside he meticulously went through every visible corner and space, giving me the lo-down as we went. He made it very clear what his responsibilities were and anything that he could not comment directly on he gave a recommendation for a specialist that could provide more details or even give a professional evaluation. Nothing was overlooked. He even recognized repaired wood vs original undamaged wood. I was very impressed. Neil was very thorough. He tested every outlet, every light switch, every faucet, every window, every door, and he turned on every appliance and let them run for a while to test the functionality. He crawled into the fireplace to look both up and down. He bravely went through every inch of the attic. The whole time he was explaining everything he was seeing. I'm surprised he didn't need a drink of water after. Regularly he would ask if I had any questions and if I did they were answered promptly and to the best of his ability. I know next to nothing about this sort of thing, so my questions were probably not the smartest, but Neil was very patient with me and took his time to answer all my questions. Scott and Scott very clearly state what they inspect and what they do not inspect, so I knew exactly what I was getting and I got it. The report came just over 24 hours after the inspection was completed....and it's 35 pages long. It is VERY detailed, down to the smallest thing. Even if something was perfect, it was mentioned in the report. Even when I had a question about the report I was given an answer in a timely manner. If you hire Scott and Scott you'll get quality service and VERY honest work. They give a small discount during the winter for a Monday-Thursday appointment, so get up early and do it before work. My appointment was at 8:30am and Neil said it wasn't early for him at all. They also give a small discount for cash, which may not be possible for some, but worth it if you can swing it. I don't know if I'll buy another house in Fairfield County, but if this deal falls through for whatever reason and I need to look at another house, I'll call Scott and Scott without hesitation.

I paid to have companies come & review their findings; their inspection report was invalid & simply not accurate. Look elsewhere for a home inspection company; it is a shame that home inspection companies are not better regulated. I went on to sell my home in Stamford with no problems. Think twice, don't engage them for a home inspection.
