Meat Department I…read morehad two bad experiences yesterday afternoon (8/25) at the Publix (Wendell Falls Parkway) meat department. First I asked of of the 'butchers' to cut a piece of salmon that was sold by the pound in half, and that I wanted to buy only one half. He said he could not of that, but that I could buy one of the pre-cut pieces. The one he suggested had the skin removed and cost $10 per pound more than the one I wanted. I like the skin on and did not want to pay the extra charge. I left without purchasing any salmon. Then I asked another 'butcher' to trim a tenderloin steak and butterfly it for me. I told him that I agreed to pay for the pre-trimmed weight. Well, he really did butcher it. What was left bore no resemblance to a 'steak'. It was ragged (like it had been cut with a butter knife). He butterflied it about 1/4 in from opposite sides and left a large cube of meat in the middle. Unfortunately I did not notice this until I got home. My wife thought i had purchased hamburger meat. I have generally had a good experience when shopping at Publix, but this was a disaster.

So, I wasn't surprised. The store was clean, for the most part. We were able to find everything we came for. They had an ok variety of meats to choose from, and the prices were decent. The cashier could've been friendlier, but maybe she was overwhelmed due to the volume of customers she had to check out. I don't know. I won't hold that against her. I got what I needed & was in and out pretty quick. I recommend this location.

Came here because my aunt loved the cute name of the supermarket and decided we just HAD to visit. We wanted to make sure to avoid certain areas of Highway 540 because we were driving a rental car that charged extra for traveling along toll roads (and apparently, according to the locals, you don't know you've entered the toll area til it's too late?!). So we made it here without crossing any toll areas - phew! The place is so removed from the rest of society that this giant market was incredibly devoid of people! Tons of selection but barely any customers. Funny that there's an abundance of parking in the lot though.

Found an assortment of outlet covers we needed. No salt free green beans. No towel rack like what we wanted. Did find a fluffy pillow we didn't even know we wanted until we passed it by. Store seemed to need restocked on this Saturday afternoon. The first two carts I chose had wonky wheels and had to be returned for as smoother buggy. All were rusty. None were sanitized and nothing around to clean them. Employees were in masks as were most shoppers.

I ordered a hot rotisserie chicken, eggs, a deli Cobb salad, and several other items. There were no hot chickens available at all, which is hard to understand for an early afternoon order. I chose not to accept a refrigerated substitute. The quality control on the rest of the order was poor. One egg was missing from an 18-count carton, and the Cobb salad was already expired. This is not the first time, although I have not posted about it before. It feels like the grocery pickers for delivery and pickup orders are not shopping with any level of care. If they were, they would be opening egg cartons to check for damage and verifying expiration dates before placing items in an order. On top of that, this store regularly struggles to stay in stock on basic items. Things like Carolina Packers hot dogs, certain canned goods sizes, and even staple deli meats such as sliced Thanksgiving Day turkey have been unavailable on occasion. Compared to other nearby Walmart locations in Clayton, Smithfield, and Knightdale, this store has noticeably less selection. Consistency is what matters to shoppers. To be fair, prices are lower than competitors, and that is an important. But lower prices do not make up for poor quality control and unreliable inventory. At this point, it is hard to rely on this location for delivery without expecting issues. I have contacted the store on two previous occasions with similar complaints. One manager said she would call me back but never did.

As far as I know, this is the only Southeast Asian supermarket in the area, and for anyone serious about Thai cooking, it's a goldmine. The shelves are packed with essentials -- curries, sauces, noodles, herbs both fresh and frozen, and even harder-to-find ingredients like that I honestly never expected to find locally. I was especially impressed by the variety of rice options including sticky rice and riceberry rice, plus frozen fermented crabs, meatballs, snacks, and drinks that brought back memories of browsing markets overseas. The only thing I couldn't find was Nam Pla Wan, so I still had to swing by H Mart afterward, but honestly that's a very minor complaint considering how specialized and well-stocked this place is. Also, Dora, the owner, was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Western Raleigh/Cary really needed a spot like this.

The gentleman who owns the store was really nice and seems to know his inventory well, ask him for something if you're looking for something specific and don't know where to start. I've passed by this store a bunch of times but never stopped in until today. What a clean,well…read morestocked, well managed store,they actually have real butchers in their meat dept. Produce looked fresher than some of the main grocery stores. I definitely will be shopping here more often
