Unfinished Installation, No Follow-Up - Extremely Disappointed We purchased and installed an air conditioner from Mr. Furnace, and unfortunately, the experience has been deeply disappointing. When we first spoke with the salesperson, we were told that someone named "Insto" would return within a week to complete the remaining work. However, as of today--more than a month later--nothing has been finished. The job site was left incomplete, as you can see in the attached photo, and no one has followed up or contacted us to schedule a proper finish. We've been left completely in the dark and feel abandoned. We trusted this company based on their reputation, but this level of service is unacceptable. Misleading, Unreliable, and Completely Unprofessional - Avoid This Company I hired Mr. Furnace Heating and Air Conditioning for a heat pump installation, and the experience was a disaster from start to finish. They caused significant delays, installed incorrect wiring, failed to take responsibility, misled me about legal action regarding an energy advisor they recommended, and ignored my concerns about my rebate. - Major Delays & Installation Mistakes: The installation was delayed for nearly three weeks due to missing parts. When they finally did the work, an ESA inspector found a serious wiring mistake, causing even more delays. I also had to personally identify a missing wiring element that their installers overlooked, which was an unacceptable level of negligence. - Failure to Take Responsibility: Despite their "satisfaction guarantee," they have refused to properly address these mistakes. Every complaint was met with excuses, escalation, and no real resolution. - False Promises & Misleading Legal Claims: Mr. Furnace recommended and scheduled an energy advisor, Sean Corcoran, for my audit, but he never completed it. When I raised concerns, their sales manager, Adam Bond, told me legal action was being taken against him--but I later found out this was false, with no updates or accountability. - Three Weeks Just to Get an Invoice! After my installation, it took me three weeks of constant follow-ups just to get a copy of my invoice with the heat pump's part numbers. Every time I asked, they claimed it was "escalated"--but nothing happened. I eventually had to drive 1 hour and 30 minutes to their office, where I met with General Manager Sean Picco, who finally provided the invoice. - Ignored Concerns About My Rebate: After assisting with the invoice, Sean Picco has ignored all my emails and calls regarding my concerns about the rebate. Instead of addressing my questions, he has been completely unresponsive. - Unfulfilled Compensation Promises: Manager Mark Heggs promised me $500 in compensation for the massive delays and mistakes. That's barely anything considering my installation cost over $30,000--but even that was never fulfilled. Just another empty promise from this company. And before they reply to this review with their usual "We will be reaching out" response--don't believe it. I have contacted them MANY times, and their tactic is to delay, deflect, and ignore. They do not actually follow through on fixing issues. If you've had a bad experience with Mr. Furnace, you're not alone! Two weeks ago we had a Mr. Furnace rep in to check our hot water tank. His name was Robin, and very mannerly and knowledgeable tech. Hi pointed out that the controls were finished and too expensive on this tank as it was 13 years old and it there is no knowing how long the tank would last at this point. He felt worse that I that it was time for a new one. He gave us a quote and we then got another quote and it was $700 more. We called Mr.Furnace back and asked them to take on the job. I would not hire this company if someone gave me the money to do business with them. My parents had a service contract with this company even though it was not one of their manufactured furnaces. The contract included 7x24 service calls included at no extra charge. In the middle of winter their furnace quit. They called MFHA and a service tech was at their house in about an hour. The tech went to the basement, came up 15 minutes later to say that the secondary heat exchanger had failed and that the furnace's computer automatically shut down the furnace as this is a serious safety issue. The tech had no choice but to "tag" the furnace - ie it was not permitted to be restarted until the repair was made. At that point he said that the furnace was really old, not that efficient and that they would spend less money over the long haul if they bought a new furnace. He told my parents he could call someone in to help them choose a furnace. One hour later a sales person was at their door and in 30 minutes convinced them to buy a new ultra high efficient furnace and central air unit. (I have no idea what the central air had to do with anything?) I came by to visit two days after this occurred not knowing about it and immediately observed how cold it was in the house. I asked them what was going on and they told me. I coerced my father to show me the contract they signed and I was FLOORED that it was going to cost them almost $11,000! I said to my Dad that they could buy a good used car for less money! My Dad said it was too late as they were committed. I explained to my parents that in Ontario Canada, when the sale of ANY product is made at a customer's residence, there is a mandatory 10 day cooling off period, that is, the customer has 10 days to change their mind and cancel the order. The furnace was purchased at my parents' residence so it qualified for a no fee cancellation. I asked my father to let me look into the furnace issue. I found the telephone number of the company that supplied and installed it. The owner was at my parents' residence the next morning. I met him and after 15 minutes he agreed that the secondary exchanger was toast and he would have also tagged the furnace. When I told him what my parents were told and what they did, he asked, "How much is the new furnace?" I told him the price including central air. Immediately he said that central air had nothing to do with this AND based on the price I told him his reply was, "They must have signed with Mr Furnace." I asked how he knew. He said that he runs into the same story all the time. He went on to say that Mr Furnace does everything - manufacture their own products to sales an installation. He also said they have a high quality product, however, it's hardly worth the $8K for furnace only. He also went on to say that the furnace they were selling was 98% efficient as advertised but then said that FOR THE AVERAGE HOMEOWNER, they will never see the savings between a 98% and 75% efficient furnace. He met my parents and I also told him that they probably would not be in that house in another two years. With that he stated emphatically, "They will NEVER save any money with that furnace." The tech said he'd call me back after he did some research. The next day he called to say that the heat exchanger had a LIFETIME WARRANTY and that he called the manufacturer that confirmed this. He quoted my parents $465 to replace the exchanger (warranty did not cover labour) plus do some other preventative maintenance required that he knew had never been done. That day I drove 25 miles to the Mr Furnace offices that were extremely difficult to locate. All of them are located in industrial malls and have no signage - obviously a tactic to prevent customers from finding them. I found them, went inside and cancelled the contract. They tried to talk me out of it and I asked if they would prefer talking to the Ontario Ministry of Consumer Affairs about it. With that, they ripped up the contract. They knew that I knew about the cooling off period. It's obvious they hope that customers don't know about it. Before I left I asked why their tech did not tell my parents that their furnace's heat exchanger had a lifetime warranty. And here's the clincher: The reply was, "We don't repair furnaces other than our own. Our techs are not trained." With that, I also cancelled the service contract. Also, they tried to argue that my father was the one that contracted and he had to come in to see them. I advised that I was legally acting on his behalf and if they did not cancel both contracts, I'd go out to my car and call the Ministry of Consumer Affairs while I sat in front of their business. Mister Claude takes his job very serious and according to the covid rules he is wearing a mask and keeps his distance. $500 "Warranty" repair. Tech named Cory came to fix our AC/Heating system, which is less than a year old. The entire time he kept saying "yeah, it'll be covered," "don't worry," "warranty." That was right up until he'd finished the repair and started writing up an invoice for $500. After presenting me with an invoice for $500 for the "warranty service," he changed his tune and started giving me BS about how it wasn't covered under warranty after all. Any other company, we would have been told upfront about any possible charges, BEFORE the work was even started. Then, on top of that, he transmitted my credit card information over a cell phone with no encryption, even refusing the use of a land line (which would have been secure) when offered. Totally dismissive about customer financial information. Even went on to say "well, it's never been a problem" and when asked "what if there is?" -- he just rolled his eyes and said, "Then I guess you'll have a problem." Didn't even bring all the necessary tools, having to borrow practically everything from MY toolbox and shed to do the work and even tried to "put away" a few of my tools in his van (They were all engraved with my name). Sleazy business practices. Unprofessional handling of customer financial information. On top of all that, to maintain that "warranty," they require that the system be inspected every few months at $100 each inspection. Apparently the inspection is just another cash grab since the inspection a month earlier didn't find any problems. Also,unlike competing companies, the inspection doesn't include a filter replacement. From what my neighbors tell me, this is par for the course for these guys. --- Also operates under the name "1-Hour Heating and Air Conditioning" The talking thermostats from both companies plays the same muffled jingle "Go Mr Furnace Today" -- not 100% sure on the lyrics because it's a very bad recording. read more

Over the last 7 years I have had the pleasure of having my furnace and air conditioning serviced by Mr. Furnace. Each appointment was on time and the service personnel are courteous, professional and most importantly efficient in their work. I would not go to any other company and in fact will move my service to them when I have sold my house. Called them to repair an AC unit in a property I own - only 5 years old. They first called and said it was a $700 part. I told them to go ahead & order the part, they were going to call me when it was in, a few days. 2 weeks go by, I heard nothing back. I called - and you end up at a call center - first they don't know what I am talking about, then they lie and say their supplier doesn't have my part and they don't know when they will. I told them that was unacceptable, I needed to know how long they would take or else I would call someone else. Miraculously, they call me back that afternoon, have the part, and are ready to book another appointment for the next day. The technician comes (I was not there) and calls me to tell me he found another broken part for $1700- that I don't have to replace it but I should. So I said no - because I felt like he was ripping me off. Then he changes his story & says he can't install the first part without installing the second part, or the AC won't work - optional turned into mandatory in 30 seconds. Then he tries to sell me a new AC for $10k. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM. I stupidly allowed him to do the repair with the 2 parts (on a third visit) as I was short on time and he had been there a million times to bother my tenant. I insisted on receiving an invoice - even though the REPAIRMAN wanted me to give him my credit card number over the phone immediately after the repair - which is strange. I waited two weeks for an invoice, and I had to harass them for it. Then I get a bill $700 more than what was agreed to. AND They somehow decide to charge 20% for "HST" on their invoice! If I didn't do the math I wouldn't have known (shows how much I trust this company). The worst experience all around. SCAMMERS. I will give them credit for this: They did correct my bill to the proper taxes and to the amount agreed to, and the lady at the office was polite to deal with. But the prices charged were a scam, the way they suggest work is a scam, and everything about dealing with this company was SUPER SHADY. I shouldn't have had to write down all the prices I was quoted - but I just knew the company was SCUMMY from the beginning. I will not be using them again & i do not recommend anyone else call them either, unless you like being ripped off. read more

I called them, knowing of their name from a previous quote, seeing their name off the QEW and 24-7-365 service no extra charge if called on a Holiday/weekend. Well, once they came, I don't think so. I think it's just marketing. Yes, they do overcharge, whether it's for a holiday or not, in my opinion, for what was done, it was OVERCHARGED. The guy came, $140 to just show up at the door. Fine, I knew that. He blew with his mouth through a few drain lines, as he later on told me, were full of stagnant water, did not change any parts and charged me another $240 for doing just that?? I am thankful that they brought back the heat for family, but, at what cost? By comparison, from what I recall, when I called Reliance before, they included the initial call price, the $140, into the repair. Either way, I was considering Mr Furnace for a water heater purchase, no longer. I think they're dishonest, albeit their marketing line on their website, and although, there aren't many HVAC choices in the Niagara Region, I would not recommend them or use them ever. read more

The job is not yet completed. The technician reviewd the issue on Monday February 24th. Since it's a new make of a water heater that Mr Furnace is installing, he could not tell what the issue was. He told me that he would order a new valve and a new motor. He was supposed to be back in two days. As yet, I have not heard from Mr Furnace. I'm still putting up with an unusual noise. My recommendation would be to replace this water Heater with one of a better quality. I hope the issue will be resolved soon. Germain read more
