Jacqueline is amazing. I reached out to her to rehab and refinish my vintage Chanel tote bag. I knew it needed to be repainted but I left it in her hands. It was slouchy and kinda falling on it self. Thanks to Cydney M for her review about handbag repair. I had a very new black leather tote that somehow got a 2" cut on the bottom of the bag and stitching was ripped. If it had been old, I would not have paid to fix it, but it was a new one, so bit the bullet and had them do the repair. We agreed at the beginning that there would be some sort of scar, and that was fine for the bottom of the bag. They stitched it up and looks like there was some kind of glue and polish put on. On Saturday, June 1st, I walked into Mr. Dryclean with a simple request: shorten my brand-new dress for a wedding the following Saturday. The woman at the front desk, who I assume is the owner, greeted me with a cheery smile. "Of course, Jan" she said to all my inquiries of whether she could keep the original double-layered slit design, have it ready before the event, and shorten it to the desired length. Standard procedure, right? When I asked about the cost, she quoted "$50, maybe $58, max $60." No receipt was provided, and she insisted it wasn't necessary. I explained I lived out of town and that my partner would pick up the dress for me. Fast forward to my partner picking up the dress and calling to tell me on his way home that it was $78. I was baffled and immediately called the establishment. The same woman answered, now claiming an extra $20 was for pressing the dress. When I pointed out the unmentioned fee, she defensively retorted with "What kind of place gives out a dress without pressing it first?". I countered with, "What kind of place quotes a maximum price and then exceeds it by $20? After a tense exchange, she "checked her computer" and miraculously found a discount, reducing the price to $62. She asked me to return for a $16 refund. Disappointed by her defensive and dishonest demeanor, I decided not to bother. On the day of the wedding, I discovered the hem job was atrocious-the stitching was sloppy, and the two layers were uneven, with the inner layer hanging visibly below the outer layer like an uninvited guest (see pictures of hem and dress). Again, I'm from out of town so with no other options, I wore the dress to the wedding, where several ladies pointed out the flaw, thinking my slip was showing. Mortifying. The following Monday, I returned to show her the poorly executed hem. She immediately blamed me, suggesting I wore the dress incorrectly, and insisted I try it on again. After I complied, she claimed the inner layer hanging was a design flaw and reluctantly offered to fix it. When I requested a refund instead, she became irate, accusing me of dishonesty and ranting about divine judgment and how I should be ashamed for asking for my money back. Had she simply admitted the mistake and offered a sincere apology with a resolution, I would have been understanding. Her unprofessionalism and disparaging comments about Los Angeles "new money" revealed a deep-seated arrogance. It's clear this establishment does not live up to its claimed expertise in "luxury" clothing, and I would strongly advise against trusting them with any valued garments. I had my wife bring in her Valentino heals to get straps fixed and she loved it and I told her how I have a pair of Player Exclusive Kobes from the early 2000s that I wanted to restore and she recommended them...here's where it goes south, I kept emphasizing that they are vintage and delicate which when my mother in law dropped them off, she told them. They kept it for 3 weeks and after it was picked back up, I went to Glendale to get it from my mother in law and it just kept getting worse. These shoes are considered to be $15k+ as you can't find them anywhere at all even on the resale market. I stressed that they needed to be cleaned and in fact, where it was stained/dirty was not only cleaned but the whole shoe was cracked all over and nothing was cleaned, it was more damaged than before giving it to them. When I requested before and after photos, the owner sent me photos of after stating that they were already cracked and would not show me the before images. Again she told me to reach out to her personally and not only proving she was lying, she has been ignoring my texts and calls and not doing anything to rectify the situation. Why continue to clean shoes if you notice it's cracking more and more? Why not reach out to the customer and state, hey we attempted and we noticed it's getting damaged and just stop? It has gotten to the point where the sizing tag on the inside of the shoe is completely damaged and unreadable. It seems like they threw it in a machine to clean it yet they stated they did it section by section. They don't want to fess up to damaging a childhood collectible and can't even admit they messed up and offer any kind of solutions. If you want my recommendation of someone, go to a mom and pop cobbler that can actually repair and restore shoes, bags, etc and not someone who glorifies fixing luxury goods because you will just end up with your money down the drain and wish you had never used them. Save your money and do your homework and go somewhere else because this place isn't is and has lost not only my business, but my family's business as well. We had been going for years. No more. Advice - get the cost first. We never did. Two new shirts to be pressed and cleaned, two vintage shirts to be cleaned and have a button put on one, and two jeans to be altered were taken in. (They took it upon themselves to dryclean the jeans themselves even though only alterations were asked for. Why? Because they were dirty? They were washed before being taken in.). The blouses - to be worn for an out of state graduation - were not given with the two hundred dollar plus order when I went in to get everything. We were told they were not "graduation blouses" as we were driving to LAX and they had the nerve to blame my daughter! Two weeks were given! We could not get a break down for all the six items. I was on the hunt for a reliable source to help bring me with repairing designer items and came across Mr Dryclean. I took in about 10 items, was told it would take 2 weeks for repairs to be complete. As time went by, I requested updates on ETA for completion and would hardly get a response. Communication with clients is a solid 0/10. I know the owner had some family issues come up, which I am totally understanding of. But as a client who dropped off high priced designer items, I expected better communication. 2 weeks turned into 2 months and I hardly heard from the owner. My disappointment stems from the lack of communication. When my items were finally repaired and shipped back to me, I was unhappy with the outcome of one repair and reached out. Its been almost a month now and the owner is ignoring my text messages and doesn't seem to care that one of the items was not properly repaired. I will say that although the majority of the repair/work that was done was good, the huge lack of communication outweighs any pros. I am left with a designer item that is worth over 3k that was not properly dyed and is now deemed permanently damaged and what makes it worse is that the owner is not responding. The waist was several inches too large so I took it back and asked that they take it in a little on the legs. They charged me an additional $58 and now it's too tight. It's two days before the wedding and I can't button his pants. My mom also took 3 items for alteration and she charged her $330 and had an altercation with my mom. When your prices are that steep your customer service should be up to par. I just called the owner to express my concerns and all she did was defend that her and her actions. I needed to get my bridesmaid dress altered and pressed, along with my fiancés suit dry cleaned last minute, and was impressed with how fast everything was taken care of. To top that off they genuinely care about their customers. I took a white Prada sweatshirt there with make up stains on it and they totally were able to remove it.
