This was a good place. Got a great haircut for a good price but they only accepted cash or venmo. Aside from that I was pretty pleased with the results and with how fast it was. read more

We've all been there: Too much hair, too little time. I was in town sporting way too much shag on this head and I needed to be semi-presentable for all the family and friends in town for a special gathering. Instead of taking care of this prior to traveling, I chose to do a quick search on Yelp and this was the closest and highest rated in the option in the area. I am supremely happy to report that it was the right choice. In short, Dan is the man. The barbershop is located in what almost looks like an apartment complex and may not be easy to find especially for newcomers. The place has a divey feel but a retro one as well. The moment I step into the shop, it feels like time froze and we're back in the 80s. There is parking in a small lot behind the building. There is no pretense here and if one comes during peak hours during the day, there might even be a wait. Aside from Mr. Dan, there are usually two other ladies working here. I believe one is a stylist and the other handles the other things like hair wash, shampoo'ing, etc. They're all Vietnamese and incredibly friendly. I was at ease the whole time and they even had some TV playing in the background. Mr. Dan took his time and made sure I had the hair style I wanted. He was precise with his cuts, making good conversation all along the way. Every patron that came in after me he greeted; many by first name. After finishing up with my haircut, I left him a decent tip on top of the regular price (which was $16) and he was very pleased. I know for a fact that I lived in the area I'd probably be a regular myself. I would always consider calling ahead of time but I probably wouldn't mind a small wait. I wouldn't be surprised if he greeted me on a first name basis by my next visit. read more

No good. $27 for hair cut without shampoo. Cash only. Place is filthy. Comb, scissors not cleaned between clients. The old lady's English poor. Should have walked out. read more

I have been getting my hair cut for more that 25 years and they always get it right, my son has been coming here with me too since he was 2 years old and now he is 20, Thank you Mr Dan and Len for nice service. read more

Still 5 years later my son still enjoys going here. I have since turned my husband on to Mr. Dan's. We have encountered a very diverse clientele during our visits, every visit. I typically sit in the shop while my son is getting his hair cut and chat with the female barber. She's polite and easily carries on a conversation. They still only take cash. I believe there is an ATM right around the corner, but I'm not certain of that since I've never personally used it. read more

Long hair just had to go! A happy wife is a happy life right? It was a convenient location for me to just walk right in, sit right down, baby let your hair hang down. (Song lyrics from back in the day) Great job, I'll be back. read more

Respectfully, the old lady that works here can not cut hair. My hair was left choppy, uneven, some strands were longer and shorter than others, and I had a bald spot. And the owner knows what she sucks ass at cutting hair but keeps her there cause she feels bad for her. Disrespectful, respectfully you should shut down. One star cause I can't put anything lower. read more

Prices are not $16, they're $22 and my neckline is way too high up. Go somewhere else read more

Mr Dan's Barber Shop - Too high - Barbers Near Me - Gaithersburg, Maryland

Len is amazing, honest and cuts great hair. Been going to her for years, her family is just as amazing. Highly recommend

Been going here for about 2 years now and I would recommend it! I've had my hair cut by both Mr. Dan and both of the ladies as well, and they always give me the style I describe and make it look good as well. It's a very straightforward, cash-only, no-frills type of place, which I can appreciate. I'm not much of a talker while I get my hair cut and they respect that. There is a slight language barrier but it's never been a problem for me. read more

They're open by appointment only!!! Call this number to get Len. Mr. Dan is not working yet. 240-815-0130 read more

So unfortunately this place has declined over the years. Two haircuts in, and I've become fed up with the mistakes and uneven trims. The prices have crept up every time I come in, so unfortunately I can no longer trust the quality and service of this place anymore. read more

So far two for two. I have been looking for a barber for almost two years in MD. I think I may have found it. If they did straight blade shaves and military discount I would never leave. Try them out, you wont be disappointed. read more

I just adore Mr. Dan's. The cuts are fantastic, the prices are more than fair, but what really keeps my family coming back is how kind everyone is. My two year old, like most toddlers, is not a fan of haircuts. When Len is cutting his hair there are no tears. She keeps the lollipops coming and he magically sits still. She remembers everyone's name and asks how our family is if it's been a while since she's seen us. My husband is former military and this is the only place he will come to get his hair cuts. It's no frills, and cash only. Cannot recommend this place more highly! read more

Last I went back in 2016, they were terrible about cutting black hair. I hated coming here. Also, they didn't stop their customers from saying hateful things. They would play dumb a lot. I heard lots of rude gossip, and some directed at me. It's not a welcoming place to all people. They don't speak English well, and I got the impression that they didn't really want to work on my black hair. Hate is tolerated here. read more

Wonderful shop! Clean, friendly, and cannot beat the pricing! Excellent hair cuts on top of it. Has become my new barber shop as long as I am in town! read more

Excellent barbershop. Very friendly staff! I was in the area on a business trip and they took great care of me at a very reasonable price.

This place is a nice no fancy frills Barber Shop, friendly and very tentative to what you are looking for in a hair cut. My hair like many of us was becoming quite shaggy as a result of Covid-19. They worked me into meet my needs for time and will definitely go back for a great haircut at a value price. Though they are cash only, the barber did not seem a bit phased I was short on cash and had to run to the bank to pay her. Thanks for awesome service. read more

Great experience at this hidden little gem, my husband got a great, cheap haircut and even I got one too (long layers) which came out better than going to the $60, $80 salon. Will definitely go back again when needed. read more

I stumbled into this place, thanks to yelp, and I must say that I'm really glad I did. Hidden in an office park for decades, Mr. Dan's has gotten by on word-of-mouth alone until the Internet stepped in. It is a basic barbershop. However, you can get a good cut here for a reasonable price and don't have to wait too long for a chair to be open. read more

Mr Dan's Barber Shop - Mid-cut and result - Barbers Near Me - Gaithersburg, Maryland

I have been going to Mr. Dan's for years and it's by far the best place in upper Montgomery county to get your hair cut. Everyone is so friendly and Mr. Dan does a great job. I personally stick with him for my hair, but I have gotten it cut by his wife who is just as good. This place is like going to a small town barbershop they always know your name and welcome everyone. read more

My dad has been cutting my hair since I was 5 (27 now). He wasn't free this weekend, and I needed a cut BAD. Chose this place since it had good reviews, and the cut I got was worthy enough for a 5 star review. I'm very particular with my hair, and this lady cut it exactly how I wanted. Quality. Heads up, they only take cash. Don't be a fool like me, and drive down the street to the ATM. read more

I've been going here for a couple weeks now and I love the fade I get and the price of the haircut as it's a very fair price. The staff is very friendly and their clientele/ regulars are energetic and bring a great vibe to the atmosphere. I recommend this barber over any other barber in the Gaithersburg and Germantown area. read more

This is truly a family-run business, and all barbers seem genuinely happy to see you. Their barber skills are second-to-none. Their prices--although they raised them by $1 this month--are very reasonable. Over four years since I and my son have been using their service, we've always felt welcomed. Once you experience their service, I am sure you too will become a regular. read more

Hands down the best barber shop I've been to in the last 20 years! Let me preface by saying that being in the military almost 20 years, I've moved around a lot and had my fair share of horrible and disappointing haircuts. This place is place never ceases to amaze me with a superb haircut! All of the staff is exceptionally friendly and welcoming. I would definitely drive over an hour to get here if needed once I move from the Gburg area. One tip: Credit cards are not accepted. read more

Here's the inside scoop: Ask for Lan, she's got the magic touch! Mr. Dan's is a great place to relax and get back to your right-lookin' self. Enjoy a soft drink and some chips while you shoot the breeze, take in some local news on TV, and wait for the professionals to do what they do. I will be coming back to Mr. Dan's soon! read more

I have used the services of this barber shop for the last 12 years and have always been very satisfied. The shop has very skillful barbers. Although I exclusively receive haircuts from the owner's wife (I believe), it appears that Mr. Dan has the biggest following, with customers frequently lined up at his workstation. Still, from my own experience I would recommend his wife. The interior design of the shop is not the strongest suit of the Mr. Dan's locale; however, it is well compensated by other attributes: the easy access and parking, prices and, most importantly, the 5 star quality of service. read more

I stumble into this shop after being disappointed by other high rated barbers in the area. They took me in right away, gave me a great cut for a low price of $15. On the way out I attempted to tip them $15 and they thought I'd made a mistake and called me back to give me the change. Very nice and honest place. Highly recommend them if you want a nicely done cut for super reasonable prices. read more

I'm very happy to have found a barber shop with folks that can cut a decent fade in Gaithersburg. I walked in and got seated immediately, when I got there at 4pm. However, I can see that Mr. Dan's is a popular place frequented by people in the neighborhood. The people getting there haircuts there have been getting their haircuts there for over 15 years. How's that for customer loyalty. The location is somewhat hidden, but definitely a gem in the neighborhood. I was pleased with the haircut and pleased not to have to drive to more than 20min to a base to get a regulation hair cut. Thanks. read more

Went here because of the prices. Wanted a quick touch up on fade. Nothing extraordinary. I was next in line, but Mr. Dan skipped me and told me to wait for the lady barber in the middle because she was almost done, and called over a guy who walked in after me. So I'm guessing regulars get preferential treatment. I let it go. I sit down and show the woman a picture of what I wanted. She says, oh ok. She gets it right the first time, then says " I need to blend in the sides some more" and shaves off even more hair which turns it into a high top. VERY DIFFERENT from what I wanted. Okay,....whatever I can't ask her to put back my hair. I get up to pay and she says $20......aaahhh. Why? I have short hair and all she did was trim the sides a little. Everyone who got a haircut before me (who were men all men form different backgrounds) had longer hair or wanted something more complicated than I did were charged $14. Not sure where the $20 came from but the price list seemed to match what I was charged by Mr. Dan during my 1st visit a couple of months ago, and what everyone else was being charged on this day. The joy of being a woman..and oh hail the pink tax! Lol read more

Great barbershop, with barbers who care about you and your haircut. Prices are reasonable and worth every penny.

The couples of the barbershop have been cutting my hair for the last 20 years. They know me well and cut my hair to my taste exactly every time making me hesitate to try elsewhere. My nephews and niece and their kids all visit the shop frequently. The shop is family oriented and intends to make you feel like family, I highly recommend them if you are in their neighborhood. I have been coming here since high school, they are the greatest ever, I dint let anyone cut my hair but them. They have such a good understanding on how to treat their customers, they almost know all their customers by name and even how they like their haircuts, that to me says a lot. The great thing is, not only have they known me since HS, they are now cutting my sons hair, and theytake care of him like family. I have nothing but great things to say about them. You can see by the rest of the reviews, that I'm not the only one that feels the same way about them. read more
