He gave me THE BEST HAIRCUT I have ever had in my life and I will be a forever customer making that 50 minute drive. I've been going to this barber shop since I was a kid and they have been the most disrespectful people I've ever met. Honestly they aren't good at all the charge way to much for how mediocre they are. The main guy Phil was the only reason I ever went and he barely works there any more. They have known me since I was a kid and are still disrespectful. Longtime customer... I have been going to Phil's barbershop for years...I think this makes 10 years. When I moved to the area..or any area, one of my initial thoughts is where will I get my hair cut? Phil's fit the bill perfectly. It was within walking distance from my home and if I decided to drive plenty of parking and the price was right. I don't have a specific barber that I always see; I think I have had all of them cut my hair. The good thing is that they all do a good job and cut my hair like I want. There are some that are faster than others, I think Phil is the fastest and then the barber that is stationed to the right of Phil (if you are facing the back mirror) is a close second. If I see the same one, even if it been a while since they cut my hair, they know what I want. When I sit with a new person and I'm saying what I want, I notice Phil listening in to make sure they understand. Once I had to explain again, and Phil stepped in to make sure they did it right; Phil is very aware of what goes on in his shop. I like that they all use a straight razor when cutting my hair and trimming my beard. Once I had this at my old barber I did not know how much I liked this, so I was glad to see that Phil's does this all the time. They also use a shaver to remove any small hairs when I get a skin fade....another plus. The barbers seem to know if you are big on conversation or not, and if you are, they will talk to you while you get your haircut. I tend to take the time to think about things so I'm quiet so there is very little conversation, and that works out just fine. There are two other barbershops basically across the street from Phil's, and I have been to one of them (Phil's was packed and I needed a haircut before the holiday), but I always come back to Phil's. Lastly, just know that Phil's is a cash only barbershop, but if you did not bring cash with you, there is a Bank of America across the street with two ATM's. read more

Terrible service, except for Andy ( far left ), Le is extremely disrespectful and way out of line. I believe that there are many other places that you can get a decent haircut. I've gone to Phil's barber shop for 10 years and Le is excellent. He's a great car guy so there's a plus for the conversation. Le often has many people waiting for his services. Phil is great too. Phil's shop cuts everyone's hair from every ethnicity (African American, Latino, Asian and White). I've been in Maryland for a little more than a year, and had been frustrated looking for a barber who does a really good flat top haircut. I asked a friend whose haircut I liked, and he referred me to Phil's. Phil does an excellent flat top, and likes doing them! This is a great old-fashioned barbershop. It's not a "salon," but I'm not looking for a salon. Most of the guys I see there have short haircuts, and they all leave looking great. Initially had rough experiences with Le and really didn't want to come back due to poor treatment but then Kevin started working here and everything changed for me! This is my guy!! He takes care of me and my kids whenever we come for a haircut!! I initially came to this shop out of convenience (I could walk here from home) but now I live in Aspen Hill and still come here for Kevin!! He's does a great job honestly. If he isn't available, the next option I would recommend is Andy. I've gotten my haircut from him a few times and he's been respectful and done a great job as well! I have been going to Phil's Barber shop for 15 years and it is, by far, the best barber shop in Gaithersburg. I have tried pretty much all the barber shops in Gaithersburg and Phil's haircuts tops them all. He takes his time on his fades even if he has a line of 5 people waiting. He clearly wants each haircut to be perfect to ensure his customers come back for more. The others barbers in his shop give good cuts too. After about an hour of waiting, the barber told me he doesn't cut my hair type and they reserve the right to refuse service. I have been to this shop once before and didn't have a problem. I've been going to Phil's Barber shop for over 10 years now. They are very consistent there although it can get very crowded at times. If you go during peak hours expect to wait at least 20 minutes for your haircut. I generally go to Phil or Lee, but the other barbers they have there aren't bad. read more

If you are African American save your money and go somewhere else these guys don't want to cut your hair and you can get that immediate vibe once you walk through the door as they all stare at you. Worst place in the world. I've been there 3 times with different barbers and all 3 times they messed up when i only asked for a certain shape up. I even showed them a photo of what i wanted and the first thing they did was to swipe the buzzer on the side of my head. This is a barber shop (or at least that's what it says on the window) where the barbers manage to mess up a simple shape up request. It's not like i told them what i wanted and they misunderstood... That was only the case the first time i went. But i showed them a clear photo!!! TWICE! Never going to this place again and I don't recommend it. I've never left a review on anything and i don't like saying negative things about others but this time i was compelled to download this app just to let people know before they go there. I don't know how these clowns stayed in business all this time, they aren't pleasant people either. Next time i'll be waiting 3 hrs in any of the other shops if i have to, there's a reason why they have more customers than Phil's barber shop, this place should be named something else btw. read more

Phil's the best Barber in town, he's been cutting my hair for 18 years, and about 20 of my friends agree he's the best.

This place isn't very good, they only know how to cut with number clips not scissors and comb. They just don't have the skill to compensate for the shape of one's head. I've been trying to find a good place in Northern Montgomery County for a while. Looks like I will have to shlep my ass down to Wheaton for a little while longer. read more

Not my usual barber, but my kid needed a cut badly, all I can say is this will be the last time I go or take him there. not the owner, but the other barber is crazy rough, no regards to the fact that he's cutting a childs hair.
