Here we go, another late review! It's been hard to remember to check in to places that we try for the first time, especially during this pandemic. I was super excited when I found out that Myungrang was opening up at Pearlridge (now you can really tell how late this review is, lol) after loving their location in Ala Moana. Of course, they had the usual line when they first opened, so we waited to try here when there was no line. We absolutely love the half hot dog, half mozzarella -- I liked getting mine with no sugar coating (cause I honestly had no idea had to feel about the sweetness and hotdog combination) but went in on all the different sauces they had on the side for you to put to your liking. All I gotta say is - if you're looking for a good cheese pull....go to Myungrang, and you'll get a good dose of satisfying cheese pull. read more

5/15/2020 There's a place that is in the downtown portion of Pearlridge shopping center. And on the day the mall opened back up I didn't want a reason to get a "Myungrang" hotdog but... I thought of how the mall would close again and I am closes to the one at Pearlridge shopping center so I went to get one well two different ones. Pretty much self explanatory by image but. Let me first express... this was worth the trip! It's a meal in itself! I was full from eating my potato "Myungrang" hotdog. There is some interesting detail to the experience... let me first say I didn't eat my potato hotdog right away. My Friend drove me there and he also got a Myungrang dog (the mozzarella one) ... anyway when he was eating his he noted that the cheese was right at the top Of the stick and the meat wiener was a short one down the middle of the stick. In hearing this and also noticing it how delicious the cheese looked... I was thinking - okay- everything at top of stick and nicely breaded... with potato bits on the outside..... I think I'm eager to eat mine. I started eating mine and I even ordered mine with the "sugar" they ask if you want that. Interestingly enough... I had already gotten home to eat my Myungrang... and that first bite was a bit shocking!! Cause I thought it was gonna be like my friends Myungrang... it was NOTHING like it! (I was thinking it was made the same way from the way it looked) the hotdog was at the very top of the stick and was all the way to the breaded end. It had me mistakenly bite down on the stick (this was my Fault) --- it's great in terms of the stuff on the stick... BUT- it's not the same kind of wiener!! Let me repeat that------ not the same wiener for the potato that is in the mozzarella Myungrang ... and I DO LOVE THIS!! Because it's not conventional!! It could have been any other hotdog--- or Myungrang but, I'm excited to go back and try a different one, and get the sugar It makes no real difference. If it's on there or not... it's added... but I didn't think it made the experience any different. I am guessing that the mozzarella Myungrang is absorbing differently which is why they use a smaller dog for that one... The Potato Myungrang is very filling and take the sweet chili sauce if you like hot with a touch of heat... it's offered when you pay for your order. Oh yeah!! It's a Myungrang next time!! read more

So. This has been the craze all last year I think. I've tried a place near me but havent tried the squid one and so finally there was one here but I was disappointed I ordered squid Mozzarella and dont get me wrong it was REALLY DELICIOUS! it is squid ink in the dough BUT I expected it to be real squid legs at the end only to find out it is the hotdogs cut up to look like legs lol. I mean its creative and cute and all but my expectation was different ha. So it's a must try tho. I'll come back and try the other flavors which I'm sure is really delicious. The girl that took my order gave me suggestions on what to out on top like sugar and which dipping sauce to try so that was cool. Not fond of the sweet chili sauce or honey mustard with the hotdogs. They do half moz cheese and then half hotdog on the bottom. Or you can have all cheese or all hotdog. Didn't realize Myung Rang Hotdog is now Holy Cow. (Receipt still says Myung Eang). Menu is a little different. They say snack food and I agree. No longer have the jumbo beef hotdog or squid ink hotdog (so I never got to try the squid ink - oh well!). They have dogs that kids would want to try - such a flaming cheetah (spicy Cheetos and Fruity Puffs (fruity rice puffs). I opted for a 100% beef sausage classic and a Messy Kinako (condensed milk sprinkled with kinako). Also ordered both sprinkled with sugar (IYKYK). Beef sausage is GOOD. It was definitely a cut above a plain "hotdog". Ate the Classic with honey mustard dressing. Sooo good! The Messy Kinako was really good, too. I would order both again. The batter surrounding the sausage was nice and crunchy on the outside, but this time I noticed it was a bit soft in the inside and chewy. Not sure if I just never noticed the soft mochi texture before or if these were a tad undercooked and could have benefited from a few seconds longer frying to get the batter more cooked, but the dogs were hot and they were great. I do not think there was any health hazard. These dogs are probably very popular with teens as a snack. More of a high calorie/high carb splurge dinner for me. Will probably return if I'm in the mood for a hotdog. They should look at the direction of their 6' spacing signs on the floor because the pattern causes cross-crossing of folks waiting to get in and then to exit and wait outside. Also no guidelines on waiting inside for your order... so while the place is clean, I can't say it's the safest as far as distance guidelines. Of course you can no longer eat inside at the tiny counters due to Covid. read more

I'm bias. I prefer corn dogs over hamburgers... Their store is on the smaller side with limited seating. But since it is at the mall it is not a problem; you can take your food upstairs to sit at the food court. Also due to the pandemic they don't offer seating at this time. Again, not a problem. They have a big menu explaining each "corndog" option...and pictures!! Any one else's eyes are bigger than their stomachs? When you place your order, they batter and fry on the spot. Depending on how busy they are and your order, it usually takes 5 minutes. You have the option of getting sugar dusted on your corndog. I usually request for light sugar or decline. But if it's your first time...get it. They also offer various condiments and cheese powders. I recommend you ask for one of each, so you can experiment and find your perfect combination! read more

If you want to take yourself to Korea to try one of their street foods this is definitely the place. It's a fun place to order and the food just makes you giddy and want to smile! The food looks good and taste okay. We tried the Pearlridge place for the first time. The ordering information is poor and difficult to understand and the clerk was of little help. as a big fan of corn dogs and andadogs, i couldn't help but be super curious and excited to try this place. i got the squid ink and mozzarella dog. SQUID INK AND MOZZARELLA as a self proclaimed foodie, who the heck can pass on squid ink anything? did the squid ink add anything to the flavor? no... but did i like how it looked? yes. add nice hot ooey gooey stringy cheese? i'm in!! SUGAR? once your order is ready, you'll get asked if you want sugar. as a noob and chinese person, why the hell not? more for my money. plus i had no idea where this dog was going. do i regret that choice? sort of. maybe this answer depends on what sauces you choose afterwards. it can get too sweet. by the way, the amount of sugar added is probaby two cents worth. don't factor value into this decision like i did. lol SAUCES? sauces are always fun. they play a huge part in how your dog will taste and how they will look in those beautiful yelp pictures. but with only 6", you can't really go nuts and try every sauce unless you take tiny bites. i tried the cheddar cheese and cheese mustard sauces with a super tiny sprinkle of honey butter. oddly enough, it did not add the savory taste that i was expecting it to. the dog ended up tasting on the sweeter side. if i was blindfolded, i would have thought the sauces i chose were honey mustard. COMPOSITION OF THE SQUID INK MOZZARELLA DOG i was expecting the hotdog to be surrounded with the mozzarella so you would get cheese and hot dog in most bites. but it's actually more of a 50/50 composition. the top half you bite into is the mozzarella. the bottom half is the dog. is that bad? not necessarily. but i think i would have enjoyed it more and would have got that savory balance i was looking for OVERALL EXPERIENCE despite being more on the sweet side, i still had fun here. i wanna go back and try the ricecake khotdog. that potato dog looked sort of fun too. it's added carbs but maybe worth it. read more

This place is in downtown Pearlridge shopping center. I've been to the Ala Moana location. The menu is the same. I have tried all the hot dogs. My favorite has to be the potato dog with mozzarella. My favorite dip is the honey mustard. I can never put sugar on my dog, it tastes strange for me. I've lived in Korea before and love tteokbokki but the tteokbokki here is just too spicy. Just can't stomach it. I can't recommend the tteokbokki. Just advise not to order it here. My tongue and mouth is so hot that a cold glass of milk doesn't help. Order tteokbokki somewhere else but not here. read more

We were at Pearlridge mall and saw this place. I told my brother that I saw this place on KHON news. We decided to try this Korean hotdog place plus my niece was hungry. OMG ! There hot dog is different from what I am used to. I got the plain hotdog with the sugar coated on it. I used the cheese sauce topping. I was amazed , very delicious Korean hotdog. My niece, brother, sister in law had the cheese hotdog with the different topping. They said it was yummy and ate this hotdog before in San Diego. I definitely will return and highly recommend this place. If your at Pearlridge makai side and hungry for a hotdog you gotta try this type of hotdog. Your gonna love it too. I actually wanted to try the squiddie one, but it had squid ink and I never had that before so. I went for the plain hotdog instead to play it safe. I like this one much better than the one at Ala Moana. It's just as easy to order at both places but for some reason, the enclosed area seems much more comforting. Hahaha. It's new, it's clean, has seating areas and the wait time is worth it. We eat our goodies there. One day, we'll try all the items on the menu. Warning. PSA. The rice cake hot dog is just mochi on a stick! There is no hot dog inside. So why not call it what is is? Rice cake/ mochi on a stick... Sadly I learned this the hard way. Ordered a #4 and took it home... clearly it is called rice cake hotdog on the menu and I thought there would also be a hotdog not just mochi. Deceptive if you ask me... located in downtown pearlridge, you wont find them in the food court, but instead they are tucked between retail shops. everything is made to order, from them dipping the dogs into the batter and then cooking it. and it takes a while for them to fry it up, which explains why theres usually a line outside. staff was all on the younger side and pretty friendly and helpful, so that was a plus. i got the mozzarella dog and the jumbo, without the added sugar. the best part about it is really the batter/dough. super crunchy & not at all soggy even though i didnt eat it until i got home! the jumbo dog was yummy, tried it with several different sauces, though none of those wowed me. the mozzarella one was a little disappointing as the sausage is so small and only at the bottom. and since i was sharing these it made it difficult since you couldnt just cut them in half and share, unless you did it the long way i guess. ended up having to cut them in quarters so that we'd each get some of the sausage. flavor overall though was def on point. i would totally go back for more! read more

New location in Pearlridge Never tried cheese sticks before so I was excited cause I've always wanted to sample The storefront is very small and there are seats in the way of people standing in line -- who thought of this layout? They explained the menu to me and I got my order in like 10 mins. A little long for just one cheese stick but I'm a hype beast so I waited anyways The food itself was delicious - imagine eating a churro followed by a mozzarella cheese stick It sounds so weird but it was crazy good It wasn't like sweet and cheesy and the same time; it came in waves which was cool to experience I'll be back to sample more things on the menu for sure! read more

Im giving it 3 stars because my son loves the cheese dogs but the service is not the greatest, I bought 2 cheese dogs today and the girl taking my order was distracted by her friends talking and laughing, so I had to repeat myself 3 times to get the order correct, I then go to pay, and only had a large bills, she then tells me "oh sorry we can't take large bills" I said ok I'll go get change and be back. She just looked at me and didn't say one word, then another worker says we have change but might be in $1's and $5's I said ok, then the one that took my order stops her and tells her "no just let him go get change" in a rude voice. I shook my head and asked if my order can be made and I'll be right back with the change. She replies no problem. I get change and go to pay, as I'm walking in the 4 girls behind the counter are laughing and dancing around, as soon as I walk up they stop and it gets quiet, then they start laughing and playing around again. The one taking orders asks me, "what was your order again" I was so irritated, I had to repeat my order again with 3 girls in the back talking loudly and laughing, and I asked if my order could be made and she confirmed it was and I got back and nothing was being made. I hope they can get some better training and learn the proper way to ack in a work place, especially one that handles food. Just my thoughts on this place, corn dogs are great, service not so much. This was my first time trying this. I had never heard of it before. We tried three different ones, the classic, the potato and the hot Cheeto. We had the cheese only option. Everyone loved it. I would easily have any one of the three again however I think the Hot Cheeto was my favorite. The cheese is so incredibly melty and stringy in a very good way. I don't know what kind of magic they work to make that happen but it I love it. I knew it had to be good because of the people waiting but it was pretty quick. The ladies working were so nice and patient with our lack of knowledge. I can't wait to try the other flavors and maybe even the half hot dog half cheese. read more

Wow first time trying Holy cow really I was like eh hotdogs not a big fan, till I saw that you can get mozzarella instead of hotdog! I was like okay why not I tried the Hot Cheetah with extra spicy Mayo and mozzarella inside! My goodness 10/10 for me will definitely be back for that one! On the other hand my boyfriend doesn't like spicy he got the original one with sugar he said it was okay... he loves cheese so he was like okay the sugar was okay he said next time he will get it plain.. in the future I hope there's more variety of flavors and fillings in the inside! I tried the mochi filled one with sugar and it was the best thing I've had in a long time!! The outside crust sprinkled with sugar remind me of a malasada, but with a light crisp! Then u get amazed wen u crunch into it and get to the chewy deliciousness of the mochi filling. It felt like and was chewy like cheese, but tasted oh so heavenly! I love mochi, so maybe I'm a little biased, but it was really good, to me. LoL. My daughters had the ones with cheese, corn and hot dog and they loved theirs equally as much as I did mine. Cashier was super rude, one worker was making TikTok dance videos on the side, and another girl made a mistake on someone else's order, and when it was returned and the customer said "I ordered the sausage, not the cheese. I'm so sorry to return it," the girl who messed up rolled her eyes for everyone to see and said "whatever. I guess I'll make you another one." Also, quality went way down since since the last time my family and I visited. Food this time was undercooked and bland. Tried the squid ink mozzarella and hotdogs. That was interesting and it tasted good considering when you think about what it is. I also got the Tteokbokki for the first time not knowing what it really was...mochi and dried tofu in a spicy sauce.... boy was it spicy. I turned it into a dinner dish by cooking some pork belly chopped up to bite-sized pieces then added the container of Tteokboboki. It was delicious! Next time I'll post a picture. read more

Crunchy, chewy, salty, cheesy and.....sweet? I was pleasantly surprised to try this delicious "corn dog" type thing at pearlridge. It was like a party in my mouth!! I don't understand it at first (dusted with sugar??) but when I ate it, it all made sense. Pretty chill place, they do take out and reasonably priced. I think I paid around $40 for 5 of those delicious hot dogs, and a large bowl of some spicy Mochi stick (takboki?) amazing-ness. read more
