"One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer" - George Thorogood and the Destroyers (1977), John Lee Hooker (1966), Amos Milburn and The Aladdin Chickenshackers (1953) Denver Biscuit Company was overflowing with customers so we stopped in here to kill some time, and what a great idea that turned out to be. It's hard to be a semi-serious mixologist in Hawaii. We don't have an extensive selection of fine rums (unless it's locally made), bitters, Bols and all manner of elusive mixes. Every time a cocktail calls for something other than the straight liquor itself, it's impossible to find in Hawaii, so Mr B's surprised me with a great collection of floral-infused booziness and liquors (my favorites) I ended up buying a bottle of Luxardo Maraschino Liqueur for about $45, which is the going price. Don't ask me what I am going to make with it. I don't know yet. SELECTION: very large and extensive, and they have their own Mr B's labeled wine. PRICE: Fair prices. Staff was friendly and helpful although I thought it was random that some Anglo guy called me señorita but whatever. I got a cool book here about rosé which the counter dude highly recommended and was discounted about $5 off the list price. My bf enjoyed their tequila selection including many high end brands and they also had a nice selection of Colorado wine and spirits including whiskeys and bourbons. I'm not sure I realized this was Mr. B's but once I did realize it, it was zero surprise to me. Not knowing it when I walked it even brings further credibility to their reputation and who they are. I've been here a few times and what stands out is this: the staff knows what they are talking about, the staff will provide outstanding recommendations, and the store itself carries brands that you cannot find or probably won't find in other liquor stores. Case in point, my last experience was all about cider for my wife. I told them she likes dry, he gave me a couple options, pointed out what he'd get, and I went with it. Not only did he absolutely nail it but when I searched for this brand, it was not one you'd readily find. It was a really nice treat to have sometime you like that most likely you'd never had before. Finally NW Aurora has a liquor store that doesn't use cardboard boxes as shelves! Seriously. What is up with all the shady liquor stores around this neighborhood? Mr. B's is a welcome addition to Stanley and to NW Aurora. It's not a huge store, but they have a good selection of beer, wine, and liquor. And they have a Scotch vault. I think it was an old vault to store explosives. The scotch selection is really good if you're looking for something north of $60. I would like to see a little more selection in the $40-$50 range, because scotch is such an expensive hobby. But I can't complain. I have picked up some amazing Scotches: Two Gordon Macphails and Suntory Toki. All at discounted prices. Best of all, Mr. B's has hosted several free scotch tastings, and I think the plan is do so at least every two or three weeks. This is a great way to introduce beginners and avid scotch drinkers to bottles that they may never have considered before. I know I tend to lean toward highland and peaty scotches, but I have had some great ones during the first couple tastings. Storm is very knowledgeable about almost every product in the Scotch vault. And when he hasn't tried something, he is not afraid to tell you that. read more

Best liquor store ever. I live nearby and frequent here on occasion and always leave with what I need, I feel covid safe and prices are affordable. During covid, they took the necessary precautions with limited occupants, people at the door checking i.d's just all in all a classy place. They have ice cream in the freezer if you live nearby and need a sweet treat. In addition I love the staff. They are always helpful abs friendly. They do have parking spaces in the garage behind them off of 22nd street so being in a busy area, that is one less thing to worry about. read more

I can only speak to the beer selection and customer service, but I think both are great. I typically work at Stanley Marketplace once every two weeks and browse their selection, texting the wife the options, and then buying later that day. They're one of the few locations I know that has been known to carry Sorachi Ace. Their staff makes excellent recommendations when you need one. They're currently only allowing 6 or 8 customers in at a time due to covid restrictions. It's a good thing we don't live near Stanley Marketplace where Mr B's Wine & Spirits is located, because my husband made a beeline for this place as we were exploring and wouldn't leave until I agreed to gift him with something to add to his whiskey collection. Even as a someone who rarely drinks alcohol, I can certainly appreciate Mr B's. The store feels intimate in decor and expansive in choice and selection. I didn't get too much of a chance to check out the red wine collection (my alcoholic beverage of choice), but we spent a considerable amount of time in the whiskey section in the back where there was also a scotch tasting. With the array of available whiskeys, my husband had no trouble finding ones he wanted to take home with him. The challenge came in picking just one, but we left with a gorgeous bottle of bourbon whiskey from a Colorado distillery that made my husband's day. Why are some of the men who work here so condescending? This is the third time I've been in and have been turned off by the way some of them speak to customers. They asked a woman to "not let her kid run around like that" in the store which I completely understand but it was the delivery for me. You're in Stanley Marketplace which is family friendly and in Central Park? I come here because I have to but selection is small and everything is overpriced. I once asked if they carried a certain wine and one of the guys scoffed at me- we wouldn't carry that here (it was the Prisoner Cabernet which is certainly not a cheap bottle of wine). Like a kid in a candy store, I love exploring wine/spirit shops around town and beyond. Mr B's is up there on the list in terms of carrying different products and offering a unique experience for their customers. Once you get your bearings within the Stanley, it's full speed ahead to Mr B's. It's close to the middle of everything, and I'm not just saying that because my radar gleans towards wine. It's really close to the middle of the airport hangar-turned-mall. They have a little bit of everything: wine, beer (on the shelves and cold in the fridge), spirits, mixers, even airplane sized bottles behind the counter. There's also canned wine or single cans/bottles of beer if you're drinking for one. It's very convenient if you're leaving Stanley and headed to a picnic or party... stop right in on your way out! Or if you live nearby, it's likely the nicest liquor store within miles, so make it a destination on its own. Pricing is on the higher end, so don't expect the yellow sticky tagged booze here. I was running some errands and went in to buy some wine for dinner. My nephew was with me and as I was purchasing the wine they asked for my nephew's I.D. First of all, he's not of age and secondly, he didn't have his ID. Since he didn't have his ID I wasn't allowed to purchase wine. I was told this was "store policy". I've never experienced anything like this. If I had my 4 and 2 yr old daughter with me are they getting ID'd as well? This seemed very unreasonable along with their prices. If we could give this place no stars, we would. We purchased alcohol from this store and a woman who worked there yelled at us about parking in their designated area. We explained that we purchased liquor from there store and she continued to scream at us. She swore at us, waved at us aggressively, and continued to yell at us even though we were leaving. When I politely told her "there is no reason to be rude we are leaving", she screamed at us and told us we were rude. Located right in the middle of Stanley Marketplace, Mr B's feels boutiquey but laid back. Their giant rosé collection caught my eye first--these guys have an amazing assortment of my summer sip of choice. They also have all of the different types of Underwood canned wines--another fad that I will whole heartedly support. They've got a selection of local kombucha and some great sodas in stock, on the off chance that you're not feeling boozy just yet. I didn't check out the beer/spirits section as thoroughly as I did the vino, but from what I could tell, their selection was fabulous. There were two gentlemen working who were quick to offer help and suggestions. They also mentioned that a wine club was in the works, which I would be all about. From their Facebook page it looks like the also do tastings (they had a scotch tasting about a month ago), and I would love to see some mixology classes here! Mr. B's is one of my favorite beer stops. It is tucked away in the Stanley Marketplace and I stop in every time we are there. They have a nice selection of beer, wine, and liquor. I will usually grab a 6 pack of beer and my wife grabs a bottle of wine. I can't speak to the wine or liquor, but they have such a nice variety of beer. Whenever I am in the mood to try something new this is where I go. Plus, they carry beer from 4Noses which isn't too common in Aurora for some reason. Also, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and they are always willing to offer suggestions or recommendations.
