It's difficult to describe the stress of attempting to find a new hair cutter person in a large city. While there are plenty of options, the likelihood that one of those people will deliver a solid, precise cut at a reasonable price is slim. As such, I'd prepared myself for this inevitable trial and error process when I called Mr. Barber to make an appointment. It seems I needn't look any further. Mr. Barber is located in the northern Streeterville area, inside an attractive turn of the century high-rise. He quickly makes you feel attended to, smiling and explaining to me that he's just finishing up with the prior client. From the pictures on the walls, you might think that he knows half of Hollywood and Chicago celebrities. He probably does. And initially, this was a bit intimidating. "Am I about to pay for a $100 haircut?" I worried. Peter is a very skilled barber, completing my cut within a 30 minute window. He needed little guidance, relying on what he saw in my hair when I walked through the door. I was given a quick shampoo to remove the product from my hair. Within a minute, I was wrapped up in a cape with scissors whirling about my head. Finishing things off, I received a smooth straight razor shave of the back of my neck. Fifteen minutes later, he was done, having efficiently and expertly trimmed my hair. The conversation (and laughs) flowed easily -- we were fast friends by the end of the appointment. It seems I would not have to hunt around much for a new barber. The price was MUCH below what I'd expect for this area of town without sacrificing quality. Thank you Peter for a great cut. This is the most honest review I will ever write. I will NEVER get my hair cut anywhere else. Let's start with the quality of the haircut you will get. For nearly nothing, these guys will give you the classiest, most handsome haircut you will ever get. This is the top of the line as far as quality is concerned. And the straight razor neck shave with the neck massages make this a full service cut. The environment is everything you want at a barber shop. Small. Quiet. One tv. Warm and relaxing. Peter and Cesar are the most personable, friendly, and conscious people that will ever touch your hair. You know, I've never been to a true barber here in Chicago. For the past 12 years or so I've gone to mainly discount hair cutting places with a coupon. I tried doing the elite male salons for a bit but I felt it was the same hair cut but at a premium price. Now, I'm going bald (yes, a hard pill to swallow). I decided to try a true barber before it was too late so I turned to Yelp to find one near where I work. THANK YOU YELPERS. Here is why I love this place. First off, you need to be buzzed in, so it isn't like it is a walk up, I felt kind of prestigious right off the back. This place is a class act, a real guys barber. Ceaser went to work right away, using a towel instead of those fuzzy throw away neck binders. We get around to talking business, the hair cut then he goes into a conversation like we've known each other for years. He is showing me his article, taking about his services, his past and everything. It wasn't rushed, it wasn't snip snip get on your way. We are having a real good time. He takes his profession very serious and he is giving me advice as to what to do with my hair. He is doing his thing and before I know it, we are finished. Shocked he turns me to the mirror and honestly, don't take this the wrong way, but it doesn't have that "fresh cut" look! You know what I mean? It isn't all shaved and cut short but I can tell that it is shorter without that just cut look which I loved! Definitely going back before I don't need to if you know what I mean. I want to go get their other "services" as well. $35 for everything. For the hair cut you get a straight blade neck shave with the hot oil, the warm towel on the head, the cleaning, I mean they don't skimp. I had gone the day before to a high end salon the day before and had one of the worst haircuts I had ever received. I walked in unannounced and he had no problem taking me for a quick clean up. Luckily the next appt. cancelled so he spend a little more time with me which was amazing. So great to get a top of the line barber who actually knows what he is doing and talking about. I felt completely comfortable even though this was my first time even getting a shave/beard trim. All in all I highly recommend but be sure to call ahead first this guy is busy. His phone kept ringing over and over during our appt which didn't bother me.
