First time I had a brake replacement and transmission fluid change, and they even checked my suspension (which the dealership told me needed replacing even though it had been replaced not so long ago) . My second time using MR Auto, this time for a failed rear brake caliper. Both times I've used them, they quoted a "worst case" price (that was very competitive), then the actual work came in well below the quote. I doubt this will happen every time going forward, but I have never received so much honesty before, during and after the work was done. The main difference is that MR Auto won't install parts that aren't needed, even if they are listed on the quote. In the case of my failed caliper, they were able to reuse the pads simply by sanding off some glazing caused by the failed caliper. I can't count the times my dealership service department replaced "marginal" parts "just to be safe". Now, the dealer may have a higher standard of performance, a greater aversion to risk, and a larger need to grab every dollar possible, but now that my car is older, I don't think the dealer can provide what I need. For example, dealers can't install rebuilt parts, only new, which is certainly overkill for things like brake calipers on an older car! I've decided MR Auto will get all the future work on my car. The prices are very reasonable here and I never got the feeling that they were trying to upsell me on additional services. Tip: If you want to apply the yelp discount, do it in the beginning instead of the end. They told me they can't change the price if it's already inputted into the system.
