It was time to just go try out a new barbershop and get my hair trimmed. Using our handy dandy Yelp App, I looked up the nearest barbershop in the Seaport area without having to use public transportation or ride share services. Seaport Barbers was the nearest one with great reviews. I also did some research on their website for online booking. Made an appointment at 1pm with any barber who was available. Went in a little bit early just in case I got lost with Google Maps directions. Walked in and met Kevin, we quickly introduced ourselves and did a fast consultation and proceeded with my haircut. It took less than 20 minutes, got exactly what I needed with not a too high of a side fade, with good conversation at the same time. If you're in the Boston area and want a professional barber with 10 years of experience, he is your guy! There are also 5 other barbers available. Check out their website, Yelp or Instagram to see actual clients and customers haircuts to get an idea of what you may want!

The customer service could be significantly improved, and simply finding the shop was frustrating--the location is in the basement and was very difficult to locate without clear signage or directions. Based on my experience, I would not consider it among the top barbershops in Boston.

She charged my mother more than double the usual price, she told her she couldn't pay with credit card and only in cash, she didn't have cash so I had to go to the atm to pay her later that day. She charged me 125$ and I gave her 150$ in total. When I went back home and talk to my mother we spoke about how crazy the amount seemed and didn't make sense. We went today to talk to Mary ( my mother in person and me through the phone) Mary told us the person who works for her marked in the book that she charged us only 85$, she called her on the phone while I was on the other line, heard the lady say it's not true I gave her 150$ and I was lying. Mary said she is not responsible and she has nothing to do with her. She lost 3 customers and we are not coming back, I do not like lies and be treated unfairly, we own a business, a owner should be responsible and make sure her clients don't get ripped off.

Overall, I'm 100% glad I came here and I'm happy to come back. The owner and barber, CJ (or CeeJay), is skilled at giving fades and using sissors. If you need a fade, line up and or trim at the top, try CJ out. He has been cutting hair for 30 years and it shows in his work. I recommend scheduling an appointment since he'll take you over walk-ins. But he only schedules appts on every hour (ex: 9, 10 or 11..etc). Thiis is to accommodate walkins. By the way, he took his time to ensure I got what I wanted. I didn't communicate well about my fade, and I wanted more trimmed. He was more than happy to do it even though it took an extra 10 minutes. Love my hair! I will be going back for my haircuts. Since I recently moved here, he will be earning my trust for the time being (this is a big process for me). Other feedback for CJ: I've gotten fades before and they didn't hurt as much. I'm not sure if you are using a different technique since I'm not a barber but it felt at certain moments that you were really digging into my skin on the sides. There was no pain or redmarks afterwards, so no big deal. And I completely understand if this is the procedure for fades; I've just never felt this before. Thanks a million, CJ.

I was charged in full anyway, and told any future booking would require prepayment, a policy I'd never once heard mentioned in 4-5 prior visits. A year later I gave them another shot. Booked with Jill Martin, appointment confirmed. One hour before my 5pm slot: a text canceling on me, citing "the issue in May of 2025." No call. No conversation. When I asked why, the answer was that she didn't like my "energy" and "vibe" -- nothing concrete, nothing that happened that day. If that was a real concern, it should have surfaced before confirming my booking, not sixty minutes before I was due to arrive. The owner offered zero accountability when I raised this directly. This isn't a policy dispute. It's a pattern of treating paying clients as disposable. Skip this shop, and skip Jill Martin specifically.
