I recently purchased a car from MP Motors since I did not want to go to big names over local businesses. However, I am utterly disappointed and wouldn't recommend it to others. I have purchased a Peugeot for a decent sum of money. In less than a month, I developed all sort of faults - squeaking breaks, stuff gearbox, electric failures for steering and navigation. On contacting MP Motors' I was very helpfully told it was just a squeaking break because while driving I might have caused dirt accumulation and it was sent out to their affiliated garage for a clean. After a day at garage and break cleaning, things have only gone further downhill. The breaks did not squeak for an entire 12 hours! But then the squeaks got worse, control of brakes on any speed over 45 mph worsened too - making it very risky for my motorway commute. The gearbox got worse and wouldn't shift from 4th to 5th gear on motorways. This was getting dangerous and I contacted MP Motors again. Again, a clean and oiling by the same garage. Again, everything fine and dandy for a whole 12-14 hours. Then everything returned, this time only to have failed steering wheel electric control, followed by failed navigation electrics. Again, contacted MP Motors, was told electrics aren't covered and I should look into sorting it out myself. After explaining issues, they offered to look at it. I also discussed my issue with breaks and gearbox again (face to face for the 4th time!) and this time was told if I pay for new break pads, that will sort the problem. However, it was also insisted that these break pads are brand new and should easily last another year. But the only solution I was told is change them. So it isn't broken, but change it, pay for it - no guarantee this can be fixed.
It has not even been a quarter of the year since my purchase and all I have got is a mis-sold faulty product with a lipstick on it. The car wasn't fit to be on road due to break, gearbox and steering issues but was still sold without any of this being even mentioned at the point of sell. MP Motors still insist everything is fine and all these fall within normality of car purchases. I am certain, they don't. I have also been in touch with trading standards regarding sell of this faulty product. Both my insurer and trading standards think this car is dangerous to be on motorways not only for me, but for other road users.
If you are buying anything from MP Motors, please make sure you don't just go by what's being told, but think of what's not being told and definitely don't believe your test drives. I am very disappointed to have fallen for such business malpractices and being treated so unfairly as a customer. Neither Tony nor Nigel have managed to sort this problem out other than just get my breaks cleaned and washed at an affiliated garage!
The journeys to the garage and MP Motors since I purchased this car from them have cost me nearly £100 in fuel with 12 miles each way to travel and come back with nada! If you are looking for decent after sales support and genuine sales, please look elsewhere. read more
