The best thing they ever did was to bring the short rib back! I recommend this place to literally anyone who asks for a rec. Be prepared for a wait unless you get to HH early on a random weekday.

I think this time was even better! We arrived around 230 on a Saturday, lucky for us happy hour started at 3 and we had a 30 minute wait for 6 people. Literally perfect timing because no one was waiting before us and about 10-20 minutes later the waiting area became packed for that 3 o clock happy hour. Side note: happy hour is from 3-7, 7 days a week! The service was phenomenal, the whole staff was so nice and accommodating. While we waited for our table, we were able to order a cocktail from one of the waitresses. We also had a baby with a stroller and they made sure we had plenty of room once we were seated at our table. The food was amazing, I'm a fan of cooked oyster but i decided to be a little spontaneous and try them raw. I was pleasantly surprised at how fresh and clean tasting these oysters were. It reminded me of eating sashimi. My wife and father in law had the lobster rolls, they both loved them! My son had the double cheeseburger from the happy hour menu, literally cannot beat this deal. $6 double cheeseburger with fries on the boardwalk is unimaginable lol. I had the Nashville hot chicken, which was good but maybe could've used a little more flavor. But the quality of the sandwich as a whole was spot on. I really don't have any complaints, this was the highlight of our day. My in laws live in Wisconsin but they travel a bunch and they said that these oysters were some of the best they had ever had. They would never see 1$ oysters where they live, so I'm glad we were able to come here and create this memory together. If you've ever debated whether taking the trip to the strip is worth it, it is! Definitely check this place out!

BAD: Not much, a little pricey but if you stick to the sandwiches, given it's beach town, the value is reasonable. Other menu items get into the 30s quick and appetizers are steep. Lager Heads was on the agenda from some restaurant research. Iam glad I tried it - the burger felt like a 1/2 pounder, juicy and seasoned, yet still cooked perfect. The fries are seasoned, very crispy and came with the burger which I liked. They had a great line up of burgers, I'd love to try another. The Knockout burger was fantastic, but the Cowboy burger on texas toast sounded great as well. You'll quickly leave the 17 to 20 dollar range if you leave sandwiches, but the service, the portions, and the quality make it worth a treat. It was February, so I couldn't partake in what looked like great outdoor seating. That's something else I'd like to try if I returned in the summer.

The atmosphere is perfect for that more intimate experience for lunch and dinner and the light decor was nice and unique with cozy seating with perfect views of the ocean water . We came during restaurant week this spot was very good from the service the space and food we did their $20 lunch menu which included appetizers and entrees portions were definitely worth the option they had. I did the Caesar salad, a nice light salad surprisingly to start off with the entrée which was their burger and that burger was well seasoned well prepared delicious it's honestly my favorite will be back again for it during the summertime or another dine in plus you can do either the lunch or dinner option anytime during restaurant week the only difference is dinner gives you a dessert and that is $35 per person. The drink was a good choice to pair with our food. my favorite was their orange crush a perfect classic for the beach. Definitely a drink to have in the summer if you want a good crush they got an option with different flavors I did the original orange crush which was light and sweet. Overall a good start to restaurant week and trying something different.

Made the payment and headed into the store for pickup some 10 minutes later. Things turned really sideways from there with added 20+ minutes to resolve the issue. The cashier claimed the Bundle is just a regular poke bowl with a drink for $23. It comes in a regular sized poke bowl and not family size or anything like that. There's no mention of this or about the drink. So we requested we cancel the order and we place an order for 2 poke bowls with 2 proteins. He said no. No order can be canceled for refund. Just grab a drink from the fridge or buy a separate poke bowl and get $5 off if we spend $35. First of all, the cost of buying a 2 protein poke bowl and a drink is less than $23. It's not on the website that the Family Bundle is not a family sized entree with a drink. The man kept arguing until the manager trotted in. She attempted making things right by refunding and voiding the original order and allowed us to order two Poke Bowls w/ 2 proteins. I still didn't appreciate being accused of not wanting the issues to be resolved and that she's just trying to help by giving us a $5 refund. Um..... I'm not the one who came up with this problem. I don't care who the website administrators or UI / UX engineers are. I'm the customer. I thought I can just go in, pick up the order, and eat. The poke bowl itself had meager amounts of fish, too much ginger and seaweed salad, and not much rice. The fish tasted sour and overcooked. The man did a poor job packaging the sauces and the manager had to step in again to assist. The lack of proper utensils or napkins included added to its poor experience. I may try Domoishi again in the future but not anytime soon. I sure don't plan to return to the Hilltop location again. The complete lack of customers and empty parking lot should have told me something prior to entering.

There was quite a few people here on a Monday night and that was actually really refreshing. I was seated on the covered patio outside which wasn't an issue. It was a bit chilly outside but it was fine where I was but I was happy I had on long sleeves. After being seated my server greeted and told what the fish of the day was, which was rock fish but I settled on the Cajun chicken pasta. I didn't wait long for the food at all, at first I thought that was pretty awesome until I received my pasta and it was drier than the Sahara desert. Then to add insult to injury there was a charge to have sauce added but so be it because there was no amount of swishing around my pasta to spread the sauce to even attempt to be satisfied. The sauce creation took longer than it did to get the actual meal and that's what earned the 3 stars because my meal was certainly cold by the time I received the sauce. Ridiculous. My server via it all did check on me and by no means did I hold it against him at all and still tipped him handsomely. Did I mention this was my first time here on a solo date for self...first impressions huh smh I will have to come back again to see if the service is better on a warmer day. Wasnt impressed by yesterday's meal but the customer service was great with the actual people interaction l had.

I am a regular customer and have never seen the staff be anything but respectful and polite. I was a witness to this interaction. His dog had no identification as a service dog. The manager politely informed him of Virginia's policy on service animals. She also showed him where the policy is posted in the restaurant. Virginia, unfortunately, does not recognize emotional support animals as service dogs who are afforded the same accommodations as such. The staff is phenomenal here, the food is amazing, and its 30 years in business is a testament to the iconic reputation Big Sam's has. That is totally incorrect as our fully trained Dog was in your reception area no longer than 12 to 15 seconds before we were told we could not bring her in. And they were told she had to have a vest that said service dog. I've taken her to many other establishments here in Virginia Beach and no problems whatsoever. As for my experience, I'm retired but I have 45 plus years in the business. I've operated multiple outlets at one time. Also restaurants that have had over 400 seats. A major comparison to your tiny outlet. I've even operated a restaurant where we once did 418 covers in a sit-down full-service restaurant from 6:00 until 10:15. It is called knowing how to turn the tables. It is still a record to this date. So I definitely know that I have the experience to make a full and clear objective comment regarding your restaurant. As for the Ho chi Minh comment, maybe you folks should approach the Virginia Beach city council and tell them you need to close until they get the road condition improved. They should be willing to give you a government handout after all, I am sure you took one during the covid epidemic. By the way, I have over 10 years experience with the department of Defense/ United States Marine Corps operating their food and beverage outlets. And during the epidemic we remained open after 3 days because we set up a food to go program that serviced our military personnel. Just work on improving your little outlet. You may be getting better comments in the future.

The valet greeted us warmly, parked the car, and even opened the door for my wife -- a small but meaningful touch that set the tone for the evening. At the table, we were pleasantly surprised to find a beautiful birthday card signed by the entire staff. Shortly after being seated, John, our server, welcomed us, wished me a happy birthday, and took our drink orders. When he returned, he walked us through the evening's specials with professionalism and enthusiasm. We began with the sea scallops ($26), cooked perfectly and finished with kabocha squash purée, hazelnut, crispy sage, Honeycrisp apple, and fennel relish. The dish was beautifully balanced and outstandingly delicious. Next, we shared Zoe's Caesar salad ($14), their interpretation of the classic. Served as a split wedge with green goddess Caesar dressing, brioche croutons, chicharrón bacon, roasted tomatoes, and finely grated Parmesan, every component was fresh and flavorful. We thoroughly enjoyed it. For dinner, my wife selected the 7 oz Creekstone filet mignon ($59), cooked perfectly to medium rare and served with Boursin whipped potatoes, caulilini, and truffle demi-glace. It was a creative dish, and all the components worked harmoniously. She enjoyed it very much. I chose the local catch halibut ($54), accompanied by butternut squash risotto, crispy cider-glazed Brussels sprouts, beurre noisette, prosciutto, and toasted hazelnuts. The dish arrived piping hot and impressed from the first bite. The halibut was perfectly cooked, and the risotto complemented the dish beautifully. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. After such a wonderful meal, we decided to share dessert and opted for the spiced fig crème brûlée ($12). This excellent interpretation of the classic was served with apple streusel crumbles and julienned Honeycrisp apples. It looked as good as it tasted, and we both enjoyed it very much. From start to finish, our experience was exceptional. I highly recommend checking out this wonderful local eatery. You'll be glad you did -- and you'll be supporting one of the preeminent restaurants in the Virginia Beach fine dining scene.

I asked if they'd accommodate a table for 1 as I didn't feel like eating at the bar. The hostess checked and said that they would and took my reservation. I arrived on time and when I gave my name, the hostess immediately smiled and said "one table for Ms Mary-Ann". Mr. Tall and handsome led me to a table that was in the open facing the kitchen. Without a word he asked if I'd rather sit at a corner table away from the main dining traffic. I really appreciated the subtle suggestion probably empathetically seeing my unsaid wish for privacy. It took some time for my server Sonya to come but she apologized as she was engaged at wine table service. Food: I ordered the charred octopus appetizer and the Sea scallops entree. It came with a choice of risotto or forbidden rice. Sonya recommended the latter. While waiting, they served amuse bouche of whipped salmon and something wonderful. Charred octopus was absolutely phenomenal. I may now like Zoe's better than Luce Secondo or Ilo Bistro... top 3! Everything accompanying the octopus cooked tender was intentional: greens, light baked potato cubes, micro greens... Sea scallops that came with curry broth and forbidden rice was delicious! Scallops cooked to perfection, lean in for a waft of the dish and it's heaven. I decided to get dessert since a great restaurant typically has great desserts! I ordered the OMG carrot cake (their signature dessert am told) and an affogato which is served with their restaurant made vanilla ice cream. Definitely worth the dress up with my kitty heel Louboutin tonight to break out of my PJ's tonight!
