Hadn't been to this location in 19 years. Decided to try it out so I took my girlfriend for lunch after a long stressful week for me. We were seated and drinks delivered within 5 minutes. Our order was taken the moment we were ready. The shrimp tacos and loaded cheeseburger dishes were outstanding. Very very good. The bartender brought us 4 ice teas each, which shows you her ability, willingness to do her job and attentiveness. She got a great tip, but not as much as she deserved. A belated review of New Years Eve. Usually you would find it difficult to book a table on this date so we booked ahead and chose Moxies because they had a set NYE menu including Prosecco. First of all we were very surprised to find the restaurant almost empty, after our meal we can see why. The entire meal was disappointing with terrible service. We ordered the set menu and were eating the appetizers which were okay and were barely halfway through before the main course was brought to the table. We both said that we were still eating but the server put the plates on our small table regardless ignoring us. We were not happy and told her so but it was useless, no manager even bothered to speak to us, nobody cared. Staff were constantly walking up and down past us but we still had to ask for water refills. My husbands view was of staff standing at the front looking at their phones. The meals were over salted and had a weird rubber vegetable on the plates that we still have no idea what it was! Not only was it NYE but it was our anniversary so the entire evening was let down by our choice to eat at this place. The staff clearly do not care about their customers so we will definitely not be back. read more

We were in town for a volleyball tournament and went for dinner. We had a reservation but had a bit of a wait for our table and again, for our food. This was not really a problem for us, but management provided our meal at no cost! It was completely unexpected, not necessary but we are so grateful! We have another tournament in a few weeks and will definitely being going back again. A big shout out to all the staff who we dealt with, as they were wonderful. Great place!! read more

Moxie's is back! Enjoyed a great dinner with great service at the Bar from Mathias. I have to say all of the one star reviews had me nervous. Received a warm greeting from Mathias as I sat down. He was quick to offer a sampler of the beer I was considering and when that didn't work quickly offered up my back up as a sampler which did. I enjoyed the mini Tuna Taco appetizer which was twice the size as I was expecting and super delicious. Then enjoyed the Salmon which was equally as tasty. Beyond disappointed with the service we had on Friday night. We walked into the lounge around 7:30 and there was one big group in the private room but otherwise still plenty of free tables. We sat ourselves onto a table in the corner and after 10 minutes of watching waitresses talk to everyone else I got up to ask for dessert menus. I had to get up to place my order. I had to get up to pay by the bar since my waitress could care less. My two guests each had their famous white chocolate brownie. If you haven't had it its easily the best dessert I had ever had before I went vegan and it never disappoints. At some point however standards come into play and I don't think I could ever come back here after this horrible service. I did tip well which I have mixed feelings about but it was meant for the chefs who make those desserts from scratch daily! (At least I'm pretty sure they do) read more

Really I have to ask for a drink/refill for any of the party members after appetizers and the main course was served as we were waiting for dessert to be delivered? Day two: Hmm, if I'm on the bar side it shouldn't take 45 minutes for a drink menu. If I go to a bar I may want a drink. I never went to mind reading school. Had a great experience here. Lunch was quick, and delicious. I ordered the Lobster and Prawn Pasta and was very pleased, although the pasta was slightly undercooked. Service was good, thankfully was quick clearing up our bill during lunch rush. Entire group left happy (mostly in part to the AWESOME brownie we shared) and would plan on going again. read more

We came for a business lunch at Moxies and we seated in a private room with a long table and bar stools. It was comfortable for 15 people. There was a tv in the middle of the room that people seated on one side could view. The service could have been better as there seemed to be a gap after we were done with our meals and clearing the plates or checking to see if anyone wanted dessert or after meal beverage. Although, it was alright from getting our drinks to when the food was served, especially with a large group. I ordered the grilled salmon on naan, which is my usual dish from Moxie's. There were 2 large pieces of salmon with tomato and lettuce in between the naan. I had it with a Caesar salad which was good but a little too much dressing and some brown pieces of lettuce. I was pleased with our meal and there are a few minor things that could have been better. read more

SLOW SERVICE It took forever to have our drink order taken. When I told the waitress I was a Celiac and needed gluten-free she ask if it was a mild or severe allergy. OK not an allergy, so frustrating. I told her FATAL. When my meal arrived my veggies we cold and my potatoes were RAW. My chicken was luke warm. I finished my chicken before new veggies arrived and then it was another 10 min before a manager came over to tell me my potatoes were on their way I told him not to bother. He said the cooks were so concerned about my dietary restriction they didn't time thing properly. I can understand that but this is something that should have been checked BEFORE being sent out to me. If they came to me and said there would be a delay due to all the stuff they had to do to prepare my meal I would have been cool. Went here on a Saturday evening . Restaurant was not busy at all and we (2) were seated right away. We were given menus and told our server would be right with us . 10minutes later we had decided from what I feel was a limited and over priced menu what we were going to order . Nobody had still come to even take our drink order yet . There was exactly one table in our section with guests so it's not like the server was being worked hard . We decided to get up and leave and go to one of the other many restaurants in the area where we received everything you would except from a good dining experience. I will not be back and will NEVER recommend this location to anyone. They need to seriously look into the lack of customer service ! read more

Apparently 19 dollars buys 3 cold four inch long enchiladas and 12 nacho chips. The outside burrito was lukewarm and the Middle piece I tried was ice cold. Microwave cooking I could do at home. No good at all. They did take the item off the bill so good on them for that. read more

This has become my new favorite place to eat. The last few times the food has been perfect and the servers are always very friendly. They offer an infant plate at no cost. The new manager they have there is young, kind and an absolute gem. The food has been perfect everytime, and I am in love with the table side smashed guacamole. Super nice server!! Yummy bellinis, fast delivery on food and my steak was cooked perfect; well done absolutely no pink!! I do have to drop a star on my review cuz I ordered a skewer of prawns with my steak and the skewer had a wopping three prawns only! For $6.00, I felt kinda jipped there. Our sever was nice and agreed that was a dinky serving of prawns and got us more at no additional cost! Nice patio and our server Jenn, was awesome! I will be back! read more

Tonight was my first experience with this restaurant and it has left a sour taste in my mouth. I made a reservation for twelve people at least a week in advance and was guaranteed that there would be a table available for us. When we showed up none of the staff had a reservation for my group. No tables were available and they provided little to no resolution. They only offered over an hour wait time. After today, I'll be wary with any interaction that involves this restaurant moving forward. read more

One star is too much credit to give to this poorly run circus. The only positive I have to share is the young host at the front door who was so accommodating and helpful when we wanted to change tables because of the draft from the patio door. The server had attitude when she was present but that wasn't for much of our time here. Unprofessional staff were giving each other hugs inside the kitchen while we waited for my dad's starter Caesar salad that never arrived. The manager was hardly able to handle our complaint after we could handle no more terrible service. My go-to Moxie's favorite, the steak salad with goat cheese, was over cooked and seemed to be lacking any tomato and red onion. This experience was so terrible that I'm still sitting at the table writing this review. If you're looking for a good meal in Red Deer I strongly recommend choosing something other than Moxie's. Or make the trip to the Moxie's in Edmonton. read more

We took my mother out for supper for her birthday last night. This was the worst dining experience I have ever experienced. All 6 of us left feeling pissed off. I should also mention that the restaurant was only about 1/4 full at this time, so the delays were NOT because the waitress was too busy. First, when she came to take our order my mother hadn't yet decided so the waitress said she would be back in 5 minutes. She came back in 15 minutes. We finally got our meals, and none of us was too impressed with it except the one who got chicken and ribs. The rest of us got steak. Mine was overdone and dry. It was also flavorless. For the first time ever, I didn't finish my steak. My husband was unaware of how small his was going to be since it does not specify sizes in the menu, so he left hungry still. Most of us did enjoy the brussel sprouts and eggplant that was on our plates, but my mother got the end of the eggplant or something because it was hard and inedible. My steak was supposed to come with garlic butter prawns, but instead it was an unflavoured, charred, dried out skewer of prawns. After we were done eating, we decided to try to salvage the night with some delicious dessert. She brought the dessert menu and said she would be right back, but she DID NOT return. I even stood up and tried to get her attention but she was too focused on visiting with other staff. At this time there was no one else in the restaurant except for 2 other customers, so it's not like she was busy. We waited TWENTY minutes, and I could see her standing there, visiting the entire time and not once did she glance in our direction. We finally just got up and left, and then she decided to ask if we were ready for the bill. I told her we had all wanted dessert but she didn't come back to take our orders. She said nothing, didn't even apologize. I wanted to smack her. She DID NOT get a tip of course. All 6 of us were very disappointed with the whole experience. I feel like I should apologize to them all because I'm the one that picked this place over our usual place, The Keg. I will not be making this mistake again! The food should have been half the price, based on the quality, and I've never had worse service in my entire life. Edited to add that the manager has contacted me and has apologized, and has made the effort to make it up to me. This shows that customer satisfaction is important and I certainly appreciate that and will definitely give them another try. read more

The food took over an hour to come to us and the waitress told us the grill broke down and that is why our food was late but when it arrived, everything was cold and stale, she wouldn't bring us cutlery for twenty minutes when we politely asked and the same went for our water and other drinks. We found a hair in the food and when we complained about that, a manager came over who told us the grill never broke and when we inquired about this to the waitress, she said she never told us the grill broke and we were liars. When we asked her if we could get the bill, she told us to ask our waitress when she was the one serving us all night? Rude and inconsiderate managers and waitresses. Never been a fan of moxies, food is always just barely mediocre, and the service is usually no better. My wife likes it so I made a reservation there for her birthday with some friends. To start the table was not ready for the time we booked it. Fine. Next we ordered water to start, that came quickly. Then the server did not come back for 45 Minutes. When she did, we promptly ordered our meals along with drinks. Another 45 minutes goes by. No refilled water, no drinks, no food, the server didn't even stop back at the table. I had to leave the table to get her as ask if the food was coming or if we could possibly get our drinks or something water. She said she forgot about the drinks. Okay, but still no check in to let us know what's going on or to refill water? Ridiculous. We waited another 20 minutes for the food. Two meals came out wrong, dry ribs were undercooked and pink inside. We said nothing, who knows how long it would have taken to remake the food. My food personally was alright, probably better than I've ever had at Moxies. Some of the 8 of us tipped, others did not. I don't blame them. We left, and my wife and I forgot her birthday card on the table in its envelope, it had money and a nice note inside from her friend. We realized we had forgotten it there and came back two hours later. No card to be found. Manager brushed us off. His second in command told us the staff probably threw it out. He took my name and number and said he would call me if he found anything. I came back the next afternoon, the women I talked to at the front desk seemed much more willing to help me out, she looked around in the back, and also through a box they have for things people leave behind at their tables. Some other birthday cards in there, but not my wife's. The women apologized and took my name and number again. I knew at that point the server from the night before had stolen the card and money. After service like that, food included, theft, and a Manager who could care less, we will never set foot in another Moxies. I am absolutely disgusted at the type of people working here. read more

Waitress spent a fair bit of time talking to the bartender and took forever to bring any of our requests to the table. Food was served cold and with hair, without cutlery and after being lied to by the waitress as to why the food was so slow, the managers rolled the their eyes when told we had lost our appetite.
