After being seated and waiting for 15 minutes for a server to come by, we gave up and left. No one came to even acknowledge that we were there, not even giving us water. We were not hidden in a corner, our table was located where we saw servers going back and forth past us. In short, the service was abysmal.

We started with the Tempo House Greens ($9) which was mixed greens, beets, poached pears, goat cheese and pecan brittle crumbs. We wanted to share the salad as our appetizer and they actually split it and put it into 2 bowls for us. How nice is that? Most other places that we've been to just put the dish in the middle and give us 2 forks. I also forgot to tell our server when we ordered that I wanted the dressing on the side. I asked her a little while after ordering if it was too late to make that request and it turned out that the kitchen already made it, but they gladly remade it for me with the dressing on the side. What excellent customer service!! We both got the lobster special (obviously). The lobster was delicious and it was pre-cracked for us. The potato salad was good - and that's coming from someone who doesn't usually like potato salad. This one wasn't too "mayonnaisey" and it had peas in it which was cool. The coleslaw was vinaigrette based, not cream based, so I was a fan since I hate creamy coleslaw. I didn't eat my roll; it looked really dry. My husband ate both his roll and mine. He is a man of few words when it comes to describing food. When I asked him about it, he said "it was an ordinary roll." Whatever that means, lol. Our server was Arden, and she was great. She was really nice, refilled our waters without us having to ask and checked up on us appropriately. Decor is simple and clean. Tempo is attached to the Delta Barrington Hotel. In term of taste, value, and service, Tempo is my new favourite restaurant in Halifax.

I had breakfast this morning at Tempo Food + Drink…read more I don't usually eat breakfast but I had time and I won't be able to have lunch 'til later this afternoon. I ordered two eggs (easy over) and a glass of milk. It was good until I came across a bit piece of egg shell. Accidents happen and I'm glad I found it on the plate and not while I was chewing it. It put me off the eggs so I ate the toast and some home fries. I let Lisa, my server, know about it when I was ready to pay. She handled it well and asked me if I wanted something else instead (I didn't). She didn't charge me for the meal.

The Short Version: Popular restaurants that makes their food…read morefrom scratch and sources ingredients locally. Tasty food and friendly service. The Long Version: My husband and I had dinner at The Wooden Monkey and we enjoyed it. I always prefer organic and locally sourced ingredients as they are fresher and as a result usually taste better, so that's one of the reasons it was on our list of places to try. I initially wanted the haddock burger and was thrilled to hear that their bun (which they bake in-house) was a plain bun without sesame seeds or poppy seeds. However, our helpful server, Angie, informed me that the breading for the haddock contained sesame seeds, so I had to order something else :( My backup plan was the Fish Cakes ($17.50). The default side is "roasties" which is their famous roasted potatoes, but Angie recommended a side salad instead since the fish cakes contained potatoes and it would be a lot of starches without vegetables. This was a great suggestion. I did want to try their roasties so I got the half salad half roasties upgrade (an additional $5) and chose the Sweet Apple salad. My husband got the salmon ($29.25). He chose roasties as his side, but his salmon automatically came with some roasted vegetables too. My fish cakes were good, but I felt there could have been a bit more fish. The potato to fish ratio was high. They were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I liked the homemade tartar sauce. The roasties were seasoned potato wedges. I liked the thin and crispy ones. The thicker and softer ones, not so much. However, my husband gladly ate them, lol. The Sweet Apple salad was delicious (Angie said it was her favourite when I was deciding on that one or the Beet salad). It had mixed greens, apples, carrots, daikon, goat cheese, walnuts and green onions. The dressing was a maple mustard dressing, which I requested on the side and it arrived as requested. The ingredients were fresh and I really liked the flavours of the salad. There was a tiny bit of coleslaw on my plate too. It was good (vinegar instead of mayo based) but was only a tiny mouthful. My husband enjoyed his salmon. I had a taste and agreed that it was great. My husband also got a beer (Propeller pilsner $9). The restaurant has a monkey motif so the decor is full of monkey stuff. Angie was a fabulous server. Friendly and attentive and helpful. They have indoor seating and patio seating when the weather is nice. Street parking only. Review #127 (2026)

The Short Version: Restaurant inside the Halifax Marriot…read moreHarbourfront Hotel. Delicious lobster roll but was disappointed that the "greens salad" was literally just lettuce :( The Long Version: My husband and I had dinner here and overall we enjoyed it. We started off with some drinks. My husband had the Nine Locks Dirty Blonde Beer. It's usually $11.50 but we had an early dinner so it was still Happy Hour (4-6pm) so his beer was only $7. I had a mocktail called "Who's Driving?" $12. It had green tea, lychee juice, Pandan extract and lemon juice. It sounded interesting, but tasted like a plain lemonade maybe with a bit of tea. I did not taste any lychee or pandan. I regret consuming the extra sugars and should have just stuck with water :/ I knew I wanted the Lobster Roll ($26) but my husband had a hard time deciding what to get because there was so many items on the menu that sounded good. He eventually chose the Seafood Paella ($32). I wanted fries with my lobster roll, but figured I'd be healthy and get the "greens" because it was the fourth day of our vacation and I had been eating mostly carbs and proteins so far and not a lot of vegetables. I asked for the dressing on the side and it arrived as requested. However, I was so disappointed that the "greens" salad was literally just lettuce. No other vegetables :/ The dressing was a lemon vinaigrette and was good, but come on, they could have grated a piece of carrot and thrown in a couple of grape tomatoes on the handful of lettuce! Their saving grace is that the lobster roll was delicious. It had lots of chunks of lobster meat. The chopped celery added a nice crunch and the bottom of the bun was lined with lettuce which prevented the bun from getting soggy. The roll was topped with a generous sprinkling of pea shoots. I thoroughly enjoyed the lobster roll. My husband loved his Seafood Paella. He said he would definitely get it again. He said the calamari was tender and the shrimp were big and plump. He enjoyed the mussels too. I tasted a bit of the rice and it was phenomenal. It had a very strong saffron flavour and was so good. So 4 stars from me despite the sad "greens salad" and the exotic sounded mocktail that tasted like plain lemonade. Service was courteous. Decor is what you'd expect from a Marriot Hotel restaurant. Kinda posh and swanky but not too stuffy. I want to try the crunchy haddock burger next time. And next time I will get fries! Lol. Review 132 (2026)

She was upbeat, very professional, polished and just had a great attitude. Personally celebrated my birthday and definitely made our experience better! Food: Appetizer was a miss. We ordered the bacon wrapped scallops. Everything was cooked perfectly. Poor choice with pairing it with cocktail sauce. That is all you can taste. Somewhat small portion and just overall not worth it. Steaks, salads, and the sides were killer! Absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. Horseradish was HOT just the way I like it. Steakhouse Caesar (cocktail with RYE!!!) was amazing. We finalized our dinner with Creme Brûlée. Very tasty, a little thick on the sugar. We removed 60% of it.
