I first tried Moxie's for a Valentine take out dinner for 4 and it was amazing. And have dined in now twice at this location. The food both times has been excellent and is matched by very friendly service and even friendlier prices! I highly recommend it!

I've been eating at various Moxies establishments across the country for almost 20 years now, and while there have been some minor changes with the menu, they still consistently deliver a good product wherever they are. The food and service I've had at this particular location has always been good. The ambience and decor feels very modern yet warm. The food is what I would call "Canadian fusion" with lots of Asian influences, as well as Italian, Indian etc. Some appetizers I've really enjoyed here are the dumplings/pot stickers (I like the sauce) and the lettuce wraps which are DIY. As for the entrees, their rice bowls are really good, and I've heard great things about the steaks and burgers. If you're health conscious, be sure to check the nutritional information beforehand (it's easy to find online) because some of the "healthy" looking options are secretly loaded with enough calories to feed a family (an example would be the salmon cobb salad which is about as many calories as 3 McDonalds burgers.). I often go with my 7 year old nieces, and love that the servers hand out coloring paper and crayons. Keeps them occupied for a while!

Dinner at moxie's! Was good as expected.. Had the steak sandwich.. it wasn't bad at all.. portions were good.. service was friendly and welcoming.. ambiance was nice and casual.. Ventured for a dessert ordered the white brownie half a portion..to be honest I was a bit disappointed. .brownie was dry and ice cream felt that it was cooled back after melting. . I pushed myself to eat some of it.. I'd still go back for lunch. .dinner maybe..but I'd think twice about dessert!

My wife and I had a rare night without kids and opted for something close so we went with Moxie's. This was my first time having anything other than wings at this location. The parking lot was packed and the restaurant looked hoppin'. However, it is cavernous inside and we were seated without any delay. We asked to be seated in an area that was a little quieter than the main dining area or bar and they directed us to an area close to the kitchen. It was neat; rather than booths this part of the restaurant had lots of bench seating and a glass wall separates the kitchen. This provides entertainment in its own right. On the trek to our table we ran into two other tables of friends and we stopped to catch up. I was impressed that if the hostess was impatient she didn't show it. Our server informed us it was craft beer night. That got my attention. They had local brews from Spindrift and Garrison on tap $6 for a 16oz glass. I went with the Spindrift. My wife ordered an excellent organic pinot noir. I had previously reported that they didn't carry anything local; looks like this has changed. Scanning the menu I also noticed that you can get half-sized versions of their sandwiches for lunch. Not sure if this is a new addition or if the hostess I had popped into ask didn't know her stuff. Even though I felt slightly guilty ordering non-burger sandwich, during burger week I went with the french dip and my wife got the parm prosciutto chicken on focaccia. I got the plain fries and she "sided" with the sweet potato variety. Our food arrived promptly., After a couple bites we switched half our sandwiches- aw aren't we cute? The french dip tasted bland and mushy; there was supposed to be a melted cheese in the mix but I didn't taste it. The sour dough bread should have been toasted. And I stole a few of her sweet potato fries; they were the best part of both or meals. The focaccia chicken parm was flavourful and the better choice. The regular fries were pretty flavourless and un-inspiiring even after I dunked them in the au juice. Springing the extra couple bucks for the sweet potato version was so worth it; I'll never order the regular version again. Our bill came to just under $60 before tip for the two drinks and sandwiches. The decor and service stand out while the food is just mediocre. I do think you can have excellent meals at a chain restaurant. This could just be what we ordered. The table next to us had some excellent looking calamari and a cob salad. Next time know what I'll order.

Great drinks. We had a Manhattan and a Mule. The salmon was very good as was the soup, salad and bread. Nice inside. I want to go back.

Not yet is known about the upstairs-from-the-Henry-House bar yet other than it's wonderful decor and fancy drink menu. This isn't a beer-drinking spot, folks. This is where you go to feel important, share some drinks with a few friends and enjoy a couple hours of elegancy without feeling out of place. The Drawing Room has a timeless feel to it. You could be having a flashback to any period over the last hundred years and know that no matter what year you're in, you're enjoying it like royalty. The drink menu offers martinis, wines, and drinks of all sorts. I ordered a Burie'd Mojito, which was white rum, an assortment of berry juices and mint leaves. It was fantastic! My second drink was a vodka-based green lime drink that was just as delicious. Mind you, the drinks are $10+ so unless your wallet is loaded, don't come here to join it. Of course, the Drawing Room isn't the type of environment to get drunk but the drinks are made strong so be wary of your perception because you may be surprised once you stand up.

My favourite is a Negroni, a delicious blend of campari, gin and vermouth. A perfect place for a date night or a few drinks with some close friends.

Fortunately there was power at the retail area of Larry Uteck and after braving a mad crush at Timmies for my morning fix, it was time to find somewhere to eat. A couple of the restaurants in the area hadn't opened, but Patrons was showing signs of life, so in I popped. It's a bit of an oddity. To the right of the door are a couple of high tech' golf simulators. To the left are two distinct areas, the first being a kind of lounge set-up, furnished with comfy chairs and sofas. The second is the main bar/restaurant area. Not surprisingly is was pretty busy and all the tables were taken, so I pulled up at the bar. The barman and single waitress were being rushed off their feet and the kitchen appeared to be way behind on orders, all thanks to the power cut. A second waitress who lived locally was called in at short notice and together, the three of them performed heroically. The drinks choices are fine, with some coverage of the local craft scene, including a couple of the better ciders and the menu is standard pub fare. I went for the poutine. A mass of fries, slightly less than optimum portion of curds and a generous topping of smoked meat. The gravy was just the right temperature to melt the curds and seasoning was good. I was thoroughly stuffed by the end. Not cheap at around $13, but not too bad for Halifax. The main bar is a bit of a barn and I'm not sure it would make for a cozy local pub, but for beer and tucker you could do far worse.
