I recently got a bike and I thought who better than to check out my bike then the Mox Multisports team! It's actually pretty cool and the people there are very knowledgeable and friendly. I don't know much about bikes and i wanted a new handle or possibly grip tape and the guys there answered all my questions about wether I could change the brakes on my bike. I ended up buying grip tape and one of the guys even showed me how to put tape on properly. When I got home it was easy peasy to do! I dunno I liked it is all. Will go back for all my bike stuff. Exactly a week ago, I stopped in at Mox to get a flat tire fixed. It was close to my workplace in the west loop, so I entered in good spirits, grateful that I was able to get my bike fixed up and ride home the same night. I was helped right away, and the people who took care of my flat took a look at some other weird things on my bike and didn't charge extra for it. A week later... I was back! The new tube that was put on the previous week had gone flat already. It was concluded that something was possibly pinched while the new tube was being slid inside the tire. Mox took care of it for me after a very in-depth look at my entire wheel and didn't charge me, even though I would have at least paid for labor. When I had asked what I owed, the woman helping me (who has got to be one of the funniest, most lively bike shop employees I've ever met) said "you don't own me jack-s**t! It's not your problem--it's ours, and we're gonna make sure we have it fixed." Happy to be a two-time Mox customer (kind of), and I'm looking forward to the next time I've got a repair or upgrade to make (but hopefully not another flat!). read more

This bike shop is fantastic. I've been taking all of my bikes here for the last couple of years. They do excellent service work; they figure out what is wrong and fix it at a very reasonable rate without trying to get you to buy anything that you don't need. Just a heads up that this store used to be called Mission Baby Multisport and you should read the reviews there. Having had a bikeseat and post stolen and this being 1 block away we stopped in. Though everyone is friendly they are elitist about riding. If you are not riding on the uppercrust of bicycles they have no time for you. Two guys helped us at once and one said "bring your bike by and we can see if we have anything to fit." The other guy said "buying a new seat and post will cost as much as your bike. I don't think I'll have one that will fit." Having gone through the whole elitist poo poo of people not welcoming others into their sport unless they have a $6000 Cervelo, no thanks. I will take my business elsewhere where my bike is judged by the miles it has taken me and not by the brand name on it. FYI: I ride a GT road bike and the bike in question to be fixed is a Schwinn. read more

My boyfriend brought two bikes in here to get them boxed for a move. The price they quoted for breaking down and packing the bikes was considerably better than other stores we had contacted ($35 per bike). They were promised the following day at 5, but when my boyfriend arrived shortly after that time, he was informed that they weren't done yet, and was told to come back in an hour. My boyfriend had rented an i-Go car for half an hour for the explicit purpose of picking up the bikes, and when he explained this to them, they agreed to discount him the cost of the packing by 20%. When he came home and tried to reserve another i-Go car for an hour later, he found that none of the cars nearby were available and we were running out of time. We had plans for the evening and our movers were scheduled to come early the following day, before MOX opened- a real bind for us. We called the store and explained the situation, and they very kindly agreed to drive the bikes to our place (we live close by)- no hassle, no grumbling, no attitude. In short, we were very pleased with the experience, and with the fact that they went above and beyond to make up for the delay. I stopped in because I was in the neighborhood with some time to kill. I recently had a front wheel stolen so I thought I'd stop in to see if they had any for sale. They predominantly sell really swank triathalon, time trial, cross, and road bikes, but they've also got a few higher end track bikes and I think I even saw a couple of mountain bikes. They've got swank wheel sets too, and some accessories but not too much gear (if you like to tinker). I asked the guy in back I needed a front wheel, but saw they really only had wheel sets (and pricey looking sets at that). I told him I had one jacked from me and needed a replacement and he said he'd check in their storage for me to see if they had anything. He found me a great used wheel and sold it to me at a great price. THIS IS NOT A USED BIKE OR PARTS STORE! I'm telling you this to illustrate the guys there took time out of their day to help me find something that they don't normally offer. Thanks MOX for the great service. These guys are the best. I had a nasty habit during the summer of getting a flat tire every few weeks, like clockwork. This gave me the rare opportunity to sample a variety of the many bike shops across Chicago because while the timing of my flats was fairly regular, the location was not. One of my "experiences" left me stranded off by Halsted and thanks to my phone I was able to find this lovely little shop. I rolled my sad, deflated (HA! haha.) friend into the shop. At this particular instance, I was supposed to be meeting a friend for a movie, but I expected to be dropping the better part of an hour waiting around to get my new tube installed, so I told my companion to soldier on without me. However! With no clamoring on my part or even employment of the puppy dog stare, they fixed me up in about 15 minutes, getting me out the door and nearly on-time to my previously scheduled engagement. And to top it off, I haven't had a flat (fingers crossed) since! So kudos to the craftsmanship. Compared to places like REI, this place was the picture of efficiency. The short and sweet of it is this is one of the best triathlon stores in the city. I've been to all of them, and although others are good too, I'll keep coming back to Mox because of the great service. And by far the most female-friendly one I've been to in Chicago. It just lacks that testosterone, macho feel that many of the area bike shops and tri stores seem to be infused with. I was just in looking at wetsuits and Amy could have sold me the top of the line, most expensive suit (which is what I had planned on buying) but she genuinely seemed interested in getting me in a suit that would work best for me, even though it is priced mid-range. I've also heard the same about the way they sell bikes - they won't try and oversell you, but get you in a bike that is the best for you. I am a super bike novice, in that I know how to ride my bike but I do not know anything about the bike itself. My tire felt weird on my ride this morning and it looked damaged. I called to see how long it would take to get my tire replaced. They seemed incensed that I would presume it would take a while. Little did they know, I was basing my presumption on past experiences with other bike shops. My experience was nothing short of amazing. They were very polite and friendly. I showed up, there was a little panic that the tire I needed wasn't in stock, the crisis was swiftly averted and BAM, THREE MINUTES LATER I was walking out with a new tire installed on my bike. It was easily, fast, friendly, and awesome. You should ignore any negative, overly sensitive reviews that appear before this one. OH! And the nice lady who changed my tire even showed me what to do in case I want to do i myself next time! read more

So I had my bike stolen...and I decided when I bought my bike to be stupid and not keep track of my serial number and other important info....well MOX really came to the rescue!! I gave them a ring after I found out my bike was stolen, and they said to come by with your receipt and they would be able to track down my serial number for me. When you buy a bike from them they enter the serial into the system and track it, and actually it is printed on your receipt usually too. For some reason mine was not when I bought it so they had to pull it up again and print the info off for me...now thats all on my police report...fingers crossed!! The staff there has been nice both times I went in (purchasing the bike and getting the serial)... I already knew exactly what I wanted so I cant comment much on sales/recommendations type of things...but they really do seem to know their stuff. read more

I work just a few doors away and, after a flat yesterday on my commuter bike, I was dreading trying to get that sorted out at work: getting my hands dirty and then putting them on white, Mac products seems like a bad idea. Instead of putting it on the very full bus, I thought I would give them a shot. The thought was intimidating: they sell triathlon bikes no less than $6,000 a piece. *gulp* That's not me. That's like getting a Chevy fixed at the Bentley dealership. I expected thumbed noses, airs, and queenly waves. But I got NONE of that. I was very pleasantly directed to the back of the store to the repair section. Even at noon on a Tuesday, I was handled quickly and for $15 I was back on the road (turns out I busted the stem so I needed a new tube). On top of that, I inquired on a frame/fork set to replace my current frame and they had something in the right range. That's good stuff because they're very convenient and I wouldn't mind reestablishing a relationship with a good bike shop. read more

I rarely give 5 stars but I have too...I just gotta! Mox knocks it out of the ballpark when it comes to customer service. I recently purchased a bike from them and let me tell you. They were so patient and attentive. The bike shop is female owned. I guess I really like the shop because Amy is from the south. She has the accent to prove it. She is so personable. Just keep asking her to say "Ya'll". With me being from Texas, I tend to say that more than enough. She will have you cracking up. They have a nice selection of Felt, Jamis, Guru just to name a few. In addition, they offer training classes. This is one well rounded bike shop. For those competitive cyclist looking to improve their game, Mox is your spot to train. This includes those interested in learning how to do Chi running. If you can't get Amy, ask for Mo or Troy. All are competitive athletes and know a thing or too about bikes.... Mox it folks! There was a group of folks that purchased bikes from them and they have offered to do a bike clinic for us. In addition, they have great classes to get you ready for those long rides. read more

Mox is fantastic -- for the VERY experienced cyclist or triathlete and for beginngers. Staff is all very experienced (cyclists and triathletes). My boyfriend and I are doing our first Tri. this weekend and about 2 months ago stopped in because we were looking to buy road bikes. We figured they only had very high end equipment (much more than we wanted to spend), but not only do they have the $3,000+ tri and road bikes, but they had one intro-level model in the $700 range. They didn't have my size so they ordered it the next day, and when we both purchased the bikes they gave us about $150 off since we purchased two bikes (even though the combined price of the two bikes we bought doesn't even come close to the price of one high end bike they sell!). Really nice and accommodating people. I came in after a car hit me while biking and damaged my front wheel. They were friendly and efficiently inspected and tried to fix the spoke alignment. After determining that new wheel was needed, they immediately put in an order for the part and charged a reasonable price after very speedy service. My sister bike broke down when we were riding around the west loop so we decided to go there. I drove by the shop before and never really got a chance to check it out. So I didn't buy anything there but the staff was really nice and friendly. They fixed it as fast as they could (it wasn't really a big deal). I was riding home from work recently one evening and as I proceeded through an intersection, a cog popped off my bike, loosening the chain, rendering the bike useless. Luckily I wasn't out of the Loop yet, and fellow cyclist stopped to see if he could help and pointed me in the direction of Mox. Long story short, the employee was super nice to me and friendly, something I haven't found at other shops unless you know as much about bikes as they do - which, if you did, why would you need their shop?? Anyway, she explained what had gone wrong, did the repair, and DIDN'T CHARGE ME!!! Basically, the turn up i had done a couple weeks ago, at a different shop, they had a couple bolts too tight, causing too much tension and then the popped cog. not going there again!!! I LOVE MOX!!! I should also mention, another newer shop I took my '70's schwinn to, didn't have the parts or tools to work on it. Mox said, "well, let's try anyway and if we don't have the right stuff, we'll make sure we set you up with some who does." AWESOME! read more

I've stopped in here three times in the last couple months for various issues with my beater road bike. The first time I snapped my chain during my commute to work, remembered passing this shop on my way home every day, so I walked the bike over and locked it up out front until I could return after work (they were not open yet). Swinging by after work I get a new chain put on for only the cost of the chain. Two weeks ago, I came out of work to a blown tube and tire so back to Mox I went. $30 later I've got a brand new tire and tube installed. I'm not sure I'll ever be in the market for one of their ultra high end cycles, but I will definitely make the effort to get any repairs done by Jacob who has been nothing but extremely friendly and helpful. read more

The customer service is delightful! I just moved to Chicago, and though I haven't purchased a bike here, I've come in here 2x already and have left with both great experiences. The very first time I came here was about a month+ ago to get my flat tire fixed. I had brought in 2 bikes with me that day because I was riding my Bianchi Oltre xr1 to transport my flat-tired PureFix bicycle in, and though one of the staffs was only fixing one tire, he was incredibly kind to pump air into all the tires of both my bikes! Today, in preparation of an upcoming full weekend ride, while having a very limited time-window, I had called in earlier in the day to see if it would've been possible if they could gather some items for me so I could be out the door when I came to pick it up. I spoke to Troy and he was very helpful. I needed a flat tire kit and some screws for my water bottle cages as they have fallen off. With me being an amateur road cyclist/triathlete, I was uncertain of which sizes/screws and which tubes I needed in my kit. I gave Troy the details of my wheels, and he immediately knew what I needed. When I came to pick up my items, the team threw in 2 screws for me which I thought was incredibly nice. It's been years since I've been here. My last experience was great so I figured I would check them out again. My son received a bike for his birthday that was not US made and I just couldn't get the brakes to work properly. They were not your run of the mill brakes and being a kids bike I wasn't even sure they would look at it. John was super nice and told me to bring it over. He took a quick look at it and made some adjustments that have them working again. I told him I also had an adult bike that needed a tune-up and he took one look at the bike and told me it didn't need the work. He could have easily just taken my money and done the tune-up unnecessarily. Honesty goes a long way. I definitely recommend others going there and will go there again myself. read more

I love MOX Multisport. I'm a beginner triathlete & cyclist. A lot of cycle/athletics shop staffs are snobby, but not these guys. They were very friendly, helpful, and patient with all my simplistic questions. They even let me into the repair area in the back to teach me how to change my tires. Selection is extensive: wetsuits, parts, apparel, accessories, cycles (including my favorite cycle manufacturer: Felt, a lot of other shops don't carry Felt). This place has incredible service. I rode past this place on my bike to check it out but they just closed. I was looking through the window or at the posted store hours when a worker came out to ask me if I had a problem with my bike. I didn't but she was willing to help me out even thought they were already closed for a bit. In fact she even tired to help a couple walking by with a flat tire on a stroller. Great shop. Friendly staff. A zipper busted on my wetsuit that was still under warranty. Mox sent it off to 2XU for a repair or replacement evaluation free of charge. The zipper was not replaceable so they replaced my suit with a new 2013 model! Thanks guy :) read more

These guys have some awesome customer service and are great when it comes to bike repairs and tuning. I worked with Jacob, who helped me true a rear wheel that was really bent out of shape. Got it working again, but it wasn't quite 100%. That wasn't his fault, however, because the bump I hit was pretty big. So we ordered a new rear wheel and I was completely amazed with how fast he was able to take the gears off of the old one and put them on the new one. Bike works great now. Thanks Jacob. The reason it's 4 Stars instead of 5 is because when I called to order a new rear wheel it took 2-3 times of leaving messages before my phone calls were returned. My boyfriend and I stumbled into Mox after leaving another bike shop. The guys in here are humble, funny, and friendly. The store has a great selection, their personnel are knowledgeable without being pushy or upselling you, and they were kind enough to tune our bikes on the cheap. And, they have a cool triathlete training room in the back, if you're into that sort of thing! Despite being new bikers, they made us feel 1000% comfortable and we left the store with the full conviction that this is our new bike shop. read more

He had us set up with a good used wheel and a new tire almost immediately, and threw in a couple of the incidental pieces for no charge. He was super pleasant and helpful the whole time. Needed an updated tri bike and decided to give Mox a try. I was blown away at their great service! I walked in knowing exactly what I wanted and didn't feel any pressure to deviate from plan. Picked my bike and selected a few upgrades and adjustments I wanted made. Super-easy. Told them I'd be back over the weekend to get it and it was ready with all the new parts and adjusted to my F.I.T.S. spec sheet. They were very patient with me during the fitting and really wanted to make sure it was comfortable. The new bike rides like a dream (on the trainer, anyway) and I can't wait to take her outdoors once the weather gets a little bit better.
