Quotes and Set-up: I messaged the manager of M4L on yelp and he responded within an hour and was on…read morethe phone with my husband that night. On the phone they discussed the big pieces of furniture in our apartment, the floor our apartment was located on and the type of housing we were moving into. That is when the manager gave my husband a quote for $90/hr for two guys and a large truck. We appreciated how timely the response was, the ease of getting a quote, and the manners the manager had while working with us. We booked them quickly because that was the best deal we had been given. Pre-moving day: They called 4-5 days before our moving date to confirm our appointment and asked if we had any questions. We appreciate this courtesy. Moving Day: Our movers showed up 15 minutes past our scheduled appointment time, however, we honestly weren't too concerned. Part of the reason we booked this company was because they begin their money-clock as soon as they arrive. Being tight on money, we decided to start bringing boxes down to where the truck would be loaded two hours prior to the truck showing up. This would take leg work away from the movers so they didn't have to do the stairs 8 million more times. The two men that were with us had very quiet demeanor's. They both were polite and worked along side my husband and I and our two friends well. Half way through the moving process the movers were getting to some of our bigger, heavier furniture. One mover had asked both my husband and I individually what our quote was. A person helping to clean my apartment heard the two movers talking while the rest of us were taking a lap down the stairs that they were upset that we were under quoted. They said that this should have been a three man job. Honestly, in hindsight, I don't blame them in the slightest - it probably was a three man job. Although, they made that slight slip when they probably thought they were alone, they maintained face and worked through the move. They wrapped our stuff up nicely and made the job look easier than I know it was. Moving in to our new place went by very quickly. The men took direction well and worked through any kinks that always come with moving furniture. Damage: We did have one piece of furniture that fell apart. They were quick to point it out to us. They took pictures of the damage. Thanks to their insurance and our agreement they will be sending someone out to see if they can repair it (it might actually be repairable, I think!) or they will be replacing it. Again, we don't place any harsh fault of this on anyone - this stuff happens! We just appreciate it being taken care of! Rating: I have given this company 4/5 stars because I feel like the office needs to find a different way to quote their customers. Reading these other yelp reviews it seems like that is a reoccurring issue. My movers would have received 5/5 but I will vouch for them in this instance that they were probably jipped.

This is the second time we have used Broadway Express for our move, the first being back in 2005 from L.A. to Austin. Once again, the company and drivers have proven their worth. Our driver, Terry Short, did an outstanding job. He was very friendly, efficient and motivated with both the loading and unloading process; he was in constant communication with us as to his expected arrivals time; and was always professional and courteous. Overall price is by space that is rented on the truck, not by weight, so there are no hidden costs when it arrives at your destination. We had everything boxed, wrapped and ready to go when Terry arrived. We paid him extra to supervise our hired labor and guide the load-in and load-out. Well worth it! Highly recommend this company!

Hello everyone, Here…read moreis my review of Broadway Express. Our move: Chicago, IL to Tucson, AZ 11' - $2,345 Scheduled load date: June 28 Estimated arrival date: July 1-9 The facts: - Two days prior to our move, we were told the date was being pushed back to June 29. At the same time, our driver told us he would only be taking the load to Broadway's Effingham, IL warehouse until another truck could be procured to take it to Tucson. - Our load sat in Broadway's warehouse from June 29 - July 11. Broadway's excuse was that no drivers were available to take our load to Tucson. - At some point, our load was transferred to another truck at Broadway's warehouse. The same care used to pack the truck in Chicago was not used by Broadway to re-pack our load. Multiple items were damaged, and I provided photo evidence to Broadway. - The truck arrived on July 16, a full week late. This was particularly hard on us because my wife was seven months pregnant, and we were living in an empty house with no furniture. - We were initially refunded $234.50. Upon pressing Broadway about the damaged furniture, they eventually refunded another $150. My thoughts: In general, I did not find Broadway to be very communicative. They could have made me a lot happier by simply calling me more to give status updates. Instead, it was me picking up the phone and sending emails the majority of the time. Our drivers were Ron Fulmer and Don Rodgers. Both were fine to deal with. We had paid movers on both ends, but I still paid Ron to help supervise the loading process and ensure careful packing in Chicago. Of course, none of that mattered once Broadway moved our load at their warehouse and damaged several items. Our sales rep was Todd Daily. He was not able to help much beyond the sales process, referring me to Linda Blake-Miller, the head of dispatch. Linda has a very pleasant demeanor and was very apologetic. When I pressed her for an additional refund for the damaged furniture, she had to clear it with the owner. Throughout pestering Broadway about the refund, which took place from July 23 to August 21, I was told only the owner can authorize customer refunds. He owns five businesses, and is only in the office for short periods of time. Additionally, he was in the process of relocating his classic car business, so this made him even more scarce when it came to talking to Linda about our refund. The final word: Although Broadway refunded me an additional $150, that's really not very much money, considering how hard I had to press them for it. The one week arrival delay (making it 17 days without any furniture) was hard to swallow. They didn't tell us about transferring our load in their warehouse until two days prior to the move. They damaged our furniture. I had to initiate most of the communication. Bottom line: pick a different moving company. - Jason Davis

I called and setup a time - I called back and the guy said I didn't have a move scheduled (got a text confirming I didn't have anything scheduled). Then people showed up at my house (I wasn't ready). The company blamed me even after I showed them the text and the call where the guy said I didn't have an appt. Move time comes - the guys are aloof and unhelpful. They didn't ask if I was okay leaving the doors open (they propped them up immediately). So then I had to find my cat. They used the front and back (while they were only two people) and messed up the door frame to the back - with nails sticking out that could've easily poked my kids (I'll come back to this). That's bad enough but professionals would have at least mentioned what they did (not try to avoid it). Professionals would say, "We screwed up - how can we help". I know this because I hired professionals after this company failed so miserably and they did something considerably minor and immediately were like, "We're sorry - that was our mistake." And that was it - taking simple accountability was all that was needed and I could not have cared less (although as professionals, they didn't screw up nearly as badly as College Movers). Back to College "Movers". They damaged furniture. They poorly packed and took very little of what I asked them to take and then they stopped before the time agreed upon and had the unmitigated gall to ask me if I would be tipping them. When the crew that came after these guys saw how they literally had thrown my things in a 10x20 storage unit and taken up a ton of space with not that much - they laughed (because these guys are laughably pathetic). Even sadder? I'm in no way a professional; the movers told me they had no way to understand how to take apart a bunk bed. I did it in the 20 minutes after they left (by myself). They are, simply, lazy. And that's fine - be lazy (but don't be movers). The worst part is that for each issue raised, their company took absolutely no responsibility. Texts indicating I had no appt? I must've confused their system (and ignore the fact that I could name who I talked to, when I called and for how long). Pictures showing the damage they did (but had not happened in the 4 years I previously lived in the home or from the movers I hired AFTER them because they were so bad) - must've been poor craftsmanship of the house, furniture, or magic. At no point was someone able to say, "You know, we could've done better." It has been (repeatedly), "Well, actually ..." If you want college movers in the vein of frat guys who are bad at their job, uninterested in professionalism, and adding to the litany of why moving sucks - these are completely your people. If you'd like a good company, go with "Moving You Forward" out of Terre Haute or "A Better Way" or literally any two people off the street.

On top of that, my schedule changed suddenly the day before when my flight into town to do this move was delayed a day. Through all this, they were wonderful. I believe their names were CJ and Tanner, and the owner was Dwayne, and they were so careful, but fast, and our move was organized and completely problem free! They moved a bunch of very heavy wood furniture without a dolly, like it was nothing! No nicks in the walls or damage to any of my items, and I've had those issues with other movers in the past, but absolutely no issues with Bishop Elite Services! And their attention to detail was excellent. They packed fragile things (furniture with glass, mirrors, etc) very well using moving blankets and industrial sized plastic wrap, which I had never seen done, but it was very effective and I wasn't worried about the antique furniture from my grandparents getting damaged, I knew my heirlooms were safe with them. They also made sure all of the boxes went to the right rooms and their labels were all facing out. I've had movers completely ignore the labels and put things in wrong rooms with all the labels facing the wall, so I was extra happy the carefully labeled boxes ended up in the right rooms with labels visible. They also rearranged the furniture when we changed our minds about where things should go without blinking an eye. Plus the guys were all very nice, it was lovely to just chat with them during the whole process. They also do snow removal, hauling and other odd jobs, so you should give them a call! I know I'll be calling them for snow removal this winter! TL;DR: You should hire these guys!

From misquoting, to not having the right size trucks that they tried to shove our belongings into. To all the damaged, lost, or stolen property. This was also back in July. The new person wants us to start all over, they have all of our information have had plenty of time. This is already two months out. They even raised our price during the move! Day one, packing! Thank goodness I did the bulk, but let them do some stuff. Lets just say I found glass jars thrown in a box with canned goods. I went through each kitchen box they packed and repacked. Also found one cabinet was still unpacked. They wanted to wrap 65" tvs in blankets. I went and bought boxes and we did it ourselves yet they had charged us for them! Seriously. Then they destroyed the boxes in the move. So much damage to furniture. They brought two trucks but one was not the correct one, ended up getting a third truck and then they switched the two smaller trucks for a big one. Am adding a few pictures of their damage, again this is only a sample. Yet they don't want to pay anything, one excuse after another. Do not trust this company.
