Quotes and Set-up: I messaged the manager of M4L on yelp and he responded within an hour and was on the phone with my husband that night. On the phone they discussed the big pieces of furniture in our apartment, the floor our apartment was located on and the type of housing we were moving into. That is when the manager gave my husband a quote for $90/hr for two guys and a large truck. We appreciated how timely the response was, the ease of getting a quote, and the manners the manager had while working with us. We booked them quickly because that was the best deal we had been given. Pre-moving day: They called 4-5 days before our moving date to confirm our appointment and asked if we had any questions. We appreciate this courtesy. Moving Day: Our movers showed up 15 minutes past our scheduled appointment time, however, we honestly weren't too concerned. Part of the reason we booked this company was because they begin their money-clock as soon as they arrive. Being tight on money, we decided to start bringing boxes down to where the truck would be loaded two hours prior to the truck showing up. This would take leg work away from the movers so they didn't have to do the stairs 8 million more times. The two men that were with us had very quiet demeanor's. They both were polite and worked along side my husband and I and our two friends well. Half way through the moving process the movers were getting to some of our bigger, heavier furniture. One mover had asked both my husband and I individually what our quote was. A person helping to clean my apartment heard the two movers talking while the rest of us were taking a lap down the stairs that they were upset that we were under quoted. They said that this should have been a three man job. Honestly, in hindsight, I don't blame them in the slightest - it probably was a three man job. Although, they made that slight slip when they probably thought they were alone, they maintained face and worked through the move. They wrapped our stuff up nicely and made the job look easier than I know it was. Moving in to our new place went by very quickly. The men took direction well and worked through any kinks that always come with moving furniture. Damage: We did have one piece of furniture that fell apart. They were quick to point it out to us. They took pictures of the damage. Thanks to their insurance and our agreement they will be sending someone out to see if they can repair it (it might actually be repairable, I think!) or they will be replacing it. Again, we don't place any harsh fault of this on anyone - this stuff happens! We just appreciate it being taken care of! Rating: I have given this company 4/5 stars because I feel like the office needs to find a different way to quote their customers. Reading these other yelp reviews it seems like that is a reoccurring issue. My movers would have received 5/5 but I will vouch for them in this instance that they were probably jipped. read more

He and his team member moved me in and out with less than 3 hours (not including driving time). Extremely professional and also went above and beyond with assisting me. HIGHLY recommend. Movers 4 Less helped move me out of a 2-bedroom apartment and into a house. First of all, M4L was one of the only moving companies that would even return a phone call. I guess there's plenty of business to be had in Champaign-Urbana, and it started to feel like nobody cared about getting my business. M4L answered the phone each time I called, gave me a good estimate, checked in to confirm before the day of the move, and generally communicated in a polite, professional manner. They helped me move from a two-bedroom apartment to a two-story house. They brought a 26' truck, and it took two loads and around eight hours for the two guys to move the stuff. The cost was a couple hundred higher than the estimate, but I think it's fair because they couldn't have anticipated how many heavy boxes I'd have. Overall, the price was very reasonable for the amount of time and effort. Even with the cost coming in a little higher than anticipated, it was still half the price of 2 Men and a Truck, and M4L didn't nickel-and-dime me with a bunch of itemization the way 2 Men does. They set a flat hourly fee (plus a flat mileage fee) instead of charging on a tiered system based on how many boxes and other specific items you have. If you go with M4L, I'd recommend labeling boxes on the sides and make sure fragile things are packed well. If you have furniture that you don't want to get banged up, wrap it up yourself before hand. Stuff goes straight onto a dolly, so if you're concerned about some scrapes and gouges, bundle it to your comfort level. Moving is always messy, so I can't fault them for some incidental damage. These guys worked hard, and the price was very reasonable. AND, they actually seemed like they wanted business. Best of all, there were no surprises - no hidden fees, no things they wouldn't move. When it comes to moving, the last thing you want are unexpected setbacks. These guys were great. I'd definitely recommend Movers 4 Less. read more

Sam did a really great job communicating throughout the entire process, from quote to hire to move. Since it was a move from Illinois to Florida, he met with the estate sale lady and coordinated with her on getting the furniture on the truck, which saved us from having to fly up there. Thankfully, all the furniture we requested got on the truck. However, only one piece was left behind, the cushion for our bench. That was disappointing, but overall not a big deal. I purchased a "pick-up only" item locally online. It was large, heavy, & awkward. Due to significant handicaps & my age, I'm unable to even help move something like it. Most of my friends are older than I am. The seller also has significant handicaps. As my handicaps continue to further inhibit my abilities, I'm finding it necessary to employ people to do things I used to do. I'm often disappointed in the cost and/or service. When I contacted Movers 4 Less, my contact seemed professional and courteous. His estimate was certainly reasonable, so I chose to obtain their services for the item to be moved. The day of the move, I was pleasantly surprised. (The seller was impressed too.) The team that moved my item was efficient, courteous, and very professional. I will say this you get wht you pay for. Meaning they break up your stuff and act very un bothered. Literally dropped a box that was labeled glass and broke some dishes didn't faze him at all. Broke the leg off of a TV stand took it partially apart and for wht it didn't make it any lighter. He quoted my daughter a price over the phone and the tried to quote it higher after the move was done. We as the people that was helping straighten out had to direct them on how to get the furniture in the house. He spoke to hi worker in a very unprofessional way. Mind you this is the power of the company I'm speaking about. The other guy was very nice. The owner seems very lazy especially knowing that he was the owner bruh if this is not your cup of tea then don't get into the furniture moving business. These guys were hired to move some antiques. The owner stayed outside while the two young employees moved the furniture. They broke the sideboard because they tried to lift it by the attached mirror. Rather than being apologetic, they got defensive, saying it had already been broken. They kept insisting on this, even though it was obvious they had broken it, because both my husband and I had seen them do it. So basically this piece of furniture that survived 100 years didn't last five minutes in the hands of Movers 4 Less. Don't hire these guys. read more

I called Movers 4 Less and they guaranteed me the best price in town. They definitely did that and more. We had boxed up a majority of our items already, but the gentleman were quick, they wrapped all of our furniture up and loaded it into their trucks in no time. We had a 3 bedroom townhouse and moved a half hour away. They unloaded everything and even put our couches in the basement where we wanted, and the TVs in the rooms we needed them to be in. They were perfect and it was 2 days before Christmas, so we definitely gave them a big tip. They moved all of our things (we have a lot) in 5 hours, and only one thing was broken. It was fixed for free and we knew something was going to shift and break so it wasn't an issue. They were all very nice, and they were very patient when we had to let our dogs out during the chaos. We moved from Champaign IL to Pensacola Florida. We hired movers for less to just load our stuff into the truck. 3 guys showed one seemed to have a bad attitude right from the start. I had a layout of how I wanted the truck loaded and was told that's not how things are done, they are the experts and will pack the truck as they want. Ok no argument from me. Then not even 20 minutes in we here a loud crash 5 of my most fragile boxes all on the ground of the truck in pieces. I ran down and was upset and got told these things happen if you are gonna complain and be upset then I will just leave. Ok. You just broke a bunch of my stuff and pretty much tell me to shut up an deal with it? Not cool I am a collector and some of the things that were broke are irreplaceable, years of collecting. To make a long story short. A bad attitude, and not doing it the way I asked resulted in a $722.00 loss for me. I took pictures it was a disaster. The other 2 guys were nice, the manager was nice but I wouldn't go this route again. Plus they don't reimburse for your loss even though they obviously broke it. I've waited 2 weeks to write this review because I wanted to make sure I was calm enough to state the facts rather than ranting about an experience that I hope never to repeat in my lifetime. Further, I want readers to think twice before they hire Movers4Less, a Champaign, IL business. As a 75-year-old with a cardiac condition, I was insecure about my move from Champaign to Savoy, so I booked Movers4Less a month in advance. I received and kept all of the e-mail conversations with George Davidson leading up to my move date. On July 20th, he sent me this note: "I have everything I need. I will put you on the books." When my son arrived in Champaign from Dallas to help me move, he asked if I had heard from Davidson and I showed him our correspondence. I had left a couple of voice mails and heard nothing, so he followed up on the 10th, giving Davidson his cell phone number as a backup. On the morning of August 11th, we paced the floor and tried calling him over and over between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m., at which point we realized Movers4Less wasn't coming. My son rented a truck and hired a crew. Before getting the truck, the guy at the counter asked, "Movers4Less?" "Yes," he said. "They always overbook. They don't much care who they leave in a lurch." To say that both my heart condition and my nerves took a hit would be an understatement. I'm still feeling abandoned. Want to know how things ended? When my son was on the road heading back to Dallas, Davidson called him and apologized for not showing up. He never called me. If I can, I want every potential mover to read this, so they know that even if they book a reservation with Movers4Less, there's no guarantee these people will show up. read more

This business is a joke. They are really out to scam you by advertising and quoting you for a low price, but they leave you hanging once they get the money. There movers are so rude you can't even explain. The way they talk to you is flat out rude. And on top of that they ask you to do things that's their job to do. They destroyed a few items and left others by my garage saying we did not agree to move them.. I tried 2 men and a truck before and those guys were so much better. We hired Movers 4 Less to move all of our large items from our third floor apt to a single story house. We decided to move our small, boxed items ourselves. Before we signed with them, they came to our apt to see exactly what we wanted moved so they could give us the most accurate estimate possible. They deliberately over-estimated so that our move wouldn't be rushed and told us about 3, no more than 4 hours. They arrived on time and took just over 2 hours to move our large furniture across Champaign (about 15 minutes between our locations). They protected what needed to be protected and all of our items arrived in perfect condition. They were fast and more importantly, cautious. I wouldn't have wanted them to rush and wind up causing damage to walls in the process. I won't ever actually move my large items on my own again! read more

We absolutely loved working with Movers 4 Less. They were extremely professional, prompt, and did a great job communicating with us both before and during the move. They made our move from Illinois to Kansas go so smoothly, we couldn't have done it without them. They arrived on time the morning of the move and loaded everything onto their truck very efficiently and quickly; we were amazed when they had everything loaded just a few hours after arriving at the house. All of the guys were great, professional, hard workers, and handled everything with care. They arrived right when they said they would the next day to unload at the new house - which was around an eight hour drive away - and unloaded everything with just as much care. This move was the first time we have had movers help us, and we're so thankful for Movers 4 Less! They were everything we had thought a moving company should be and more. We especially loved that once they left our house, they drove straight to the new house to move everything in and there was no long wait time or wondering where our belongings were. The price we were given before the move was the price we paid in the end; there were no surprise fees or additions to our bill. Everything was perfect. I don't know how these guys stay in business. They are very shady and try to rip you off. Everything seemed perfect when I called them for a quote. They seemed very professional and courteous and cheap! I thought I was lucky, but boy I was wrong. I hired them for a move from Urbana to Chicago. On moving day, the movers arrived one hour late. One of them, Sam was just so obnoxious and rude. They order you around as if they hired you. They work slowly and on top of that broke several of my things. Again no apologies or compensation, you just have to deal with their crap. they ended being more expensive and they made my move a nightmare. Wish I payed a little more and went with a more professional and respectful moving company. This is absolutely the worst moving company do not use them. We went with them because they had guaranteed service, and a one day move. We have previously used two men and a truck and had no issues with them, they moved us without a problem, how ever for this move they said it would take 2 days and Movers 4 less said they would have it done in one day so we went with them. I scheduled the move over a month in advance I had someone come to the house and gave me a quote. A week before my move I heard from them, confirmed that they were coming, they had a couple questions which I answered. The day before my move which was scheduled for a Saturday, they called at about 6pm they confirmed my move information and schedule for 9 am. The next day at 8 am I received a phone call telling me that they did not have a truck available for my move. I did not understand because they had told me that they had there own trucks, however come to find out they rent other trucks from other companies like u-hal, Ryder, and other moving vehicles. The person I spoke to on the phone said that she had tried to get a u-haul truck and had also called other companies to try and get a truck but was not successful. At this point all I could do was try to find a truck myself. I did find a u-haul truck, but I still needed the movers, I called the company back to let them know and I was told that getting movers would be an issue because some of there people don't have drivers license so they are not sure how they would get to my new location. I was finally called back an hour later and told that the movers would be at my house in 30 minutes. I was told movers would still be bringing straps, furniture protectors, and mattress covers. I advised that I was not willing to pay there normal rate because I had to pay for my own truck and all the other issues I have had with there company. The person on the phone said she was going to send 3 guys and reduced the hourly rate of there fee. By this time it was already 11am, so I had expected movers to be there. At noon movers were still not there, I called at 12, and at 12:30 and at 1pm still no movers. Finally about 1:45 movers showed up. When I called the woman on the phone was so incredibly rude to me and actually blamed me for taking the truck that they would have gotten and then the movers would have been on time. I explained that I only secured the truck after I was called and informed that the moving company I had hired to move me was apparently a fraud because they don't have there own trucks and then I was told they couldn't get a truck at all. At this point I am extremely upset with this company, when the movers get there at 1:45 and they have none of the items they were supposed to have. No moving pads, no straps, no mattress covers. They start moving items and they are working incredibly slow, they had no idea how to load a truck, and one of the guys just stood around looking confused the whole time. We finished loading the truck and went to our new location, when we get there they slowly unloaded the truck while the 3rd guy sat in his vehicle for over an hour not doing anything. We have a bed frame that moves and is very heavy, the movers refused to take it up the stairs, they said there was no way they could get it up there and left it in the hall way. However after they left we were able to take the frame apart and get it up the stairs. The fact that the movers were not able to figure this out and refused to do so was unacceptable. They finished unloading the truck and I needed to pay them I added up the few hours that they were actually there and told the head mover that I as writing the check for that amount. He then told me, that was not correct and I was supposed to be paying for his mileage for him driving his own vehicle to move the items. I explained however that this was not a part of the agreement and I as not paying that. All in all this was the worst company to deal with rude customer service, slow workers, not reliable, and they do not have there own trucks. I would definitely go with two men and a truck next time. read more

They were intentionally walking super slow, as if to take longer to move stuff because they charge by the hour. While packing, sometimes they would just stand and keep talking without doing the work. They would start working only if I moved to the room where they were packing. Finally they brought a small truck to make multiple trips in town. I was quoted what seemed to be a very fair price, with a clear explanation of what would happen on moving day, and how the charges might go up. On the day of the move, Theo, George and Tyrone arrived right on time. They were thorough, efficient, friendly, and cheerful. They also managed complicated angles of my narrow staircase without a single ding to the furniture or the walls. And we had some really heavy stuff -- exercise machine, dressers, file cabinets. They arrived at our new house, and again, navigated the stairways -- this time to three floors. And they maintained their good cheer all day long. They advertise on craigslist and, although their name suggests that you will get a deal, they charge $80/hour for two hours minimum and then charge you additional moving fees that are ridiculous. They did not mention these additional fees in my previous three interactions with them on the phone until I was about to pay. read more
