I had to get things moved quickly from my mom's house, needing movers very short notice (less than…read morea week). On top of that, my schedule changed suddenly the day before when my flight into town to do this move was delayed a day. Through all this, they were wonderful. They were the first to respond to my initial quote request on yelp, with very clear and professional yet friendly quotes and scheduling, and when I had to reschedule by a day they were very supportive (even responding after hours too). The actual move was quick and clean and careful. My best moving experience ever (and I've had a few). Definitely work with them.

I believe their names were CJ and Tanner, and the owner was Dwayne, and they were so careful, but fast, and our move was organized and completely problem free! They moved a bunch of very heavy wood furniture without a dolly, like it was nothing! No nicks in the walls or damage to any of my items, and I've had those issues with other movers in the past, but absolutely no issues with Bishop Elite Services! And their attention to detail was excellent. They packed fragile things (furniture with glass, mirrors, etc) very well using moving blankets and industrial sized plastic wrap, which I had never seen done, but it was very effective and I wasn't worried about the antique furniture from my grandparents getting damaged, I knew my heirlooms were safe with them. They also made sure all of the boxes went to the right rooms and their labels were all facing out. I've had movers completely ignore the labels and put things in wrong rooms with all the labels facing the wall, so I was extra happy the carefully labeled boxes ended up in the right rooms with labels visible. They also rearranged the furniture when we changed our minds about where things should go without blinking an eye. Plus the guys were all very nice, it was lovely to just chat with them during the whole process. They also do snow removal, hauling and other odd jobs, so you should give them a call! I know I'll be calling them for snow removal this winter! TL;DR: You should hire these guys!

I hired 2 movers for 2 hours, only to have one mover (Chris) show up a half an hour late…read more Chris was scheduled to arrive at 1 pm, but texted me at 12:58 pm to say that he would be 15 minutes late. I had to call and text him at 1:28 pm to ask him where he was. Once Chris arrived, he approached me as if he was ready to get started, without ever acknowledging that he was missing one person. When I questioned him, he acted dumbfounded, and said that the other mover had had a "family emergency." You mean to tell me you show up a half hour late without first immediately contacting me to let me know that the arrangement I PAID IN ADVANCE FOR has changed? And then you expect me to proceed as if this is normal? Well, that's exactly what Chris did. I asked Chris how he could show up a half hour late without first attempting to find a replacement. He had no answer. I asked him if he could find one, and again he looked dumbfounded, and said he would try. He went back to his car and sat in there for the next fifteen minutes, purportedly trying to fix the situation. In that time, the facility I was moving to had contacted a local mover for me who agreed to come move me by 3 pm. Chris's unprofessional shenanigans caused me totally unnecessary stress, delayed my move by over two hours, and as a result forced me to have to finish up my move in the evening after dark (which unfortunately led me to sustain a physical injury). I was beyond astounded and appalled at how nonchalantly this young man did this to me, and several days before a major holiday when it would likely be hard for me to find a replacement. Chris apparently expected me to wear out my back assisting him with a move (which would have taken four hours instead of two), something I steadfastly refused to do. I have never encountered a more unnecessary, unprofessional, and manipulative set of circumstances from a business in my life. I would never recommend this business to anyone, and rather, would strongly caution any person considering working with them to avoid it.

Prior to moving, I reached out to Chris to confirm the day and estimated time of arrival. Chris was responsive, flexible, and more than willing to make accommodations given the distance of my move. For instance, he was able to offer evening availability (after 5pm), although I imagine that was not ideal for him and the other movers. When I arrived at my destination, Chris and Frank met me promptly and they had my belongings unloaded within an hour. They were careful with my furniture and Chris was very attentive to the labels on my boxes to ensure that they were put in the right place. He even had food recommendations and other helpful tips about the area. Overall, I was so pleased with my experience and I would highly recommend Chris and Illini Movers for any of your moving needs. Thank you Chris and Frank!

Haul-It Movers Plus - This was AFTER I had tidied it up a bit following the "move."

I hired Haul-It Movers Plus after being personally assured by the owner, Kris, that his company was…read moredifferent. He told me he "got into this business because he hated how other companies take advantage of people." I believed him. I wish I hadn't. The move was quoted in person by Kris himself at around $3,500, which I thought was reasonable for our short 37-mile in-state move, and included a second truck that was "to avoid a second trip." That second truck never came. Instead, they made four trips, left several items behind, and then attempted to charge me TRIPLE the original estimate for a stressful, disorganized, and ultimately unfinished move. I was eventually invoiced: * $10,038 for the move (before their so-called "goodwill cap") * $2,385 for packing, on top of $550 already paid on day one * = $12,423 total, if I hadn't pushed back ...plus I had to pay out of pocket to finish the move myself, because they left behind multiple valuable items--including family heirlooms, medical supplies, décor, and luggage. By the end, I felt like a nuisance, not a customer. Co-owner Danial even wrote: "We get that a lot from customers... 99 out of 100 times people don't realize how much they have." (RED FLAG: They know this is a common problem--yet they do nothing to estimate more honestly. And remember, this was after an in-person walkthrough by the company owner.) The "move" itself was a complete mess. Boxes were packed slowly, inefficiently, often mislabeled, and loaded in a way that wasted truck space. The crew rotated daily, had no consistency or oversight, and even included what I later learned was a 14-year-old girl--clearly underage, and still billed at full mover rate. Delina--who I later learned is Kris's wife--joined one of the days. SHE was efficient, upbeat, and kind. Delina and her small team moved more in 2.5 hours than the previous crews had in three full days. The energy changed entirely. Honestly, she should be running the company. Unfortunately, she was only there the one day. At one point, I raised concerns and I was told they wanted to "make things right" and cap the total at the most recent running estimate--which at the time was $6,636 (including packing). But then the move was "capped" at $8,000, already much higher than promised. THEN they claimed the cap only applied to the move itself and added the $2,385 packing invoice separately--bringing the total to $10,935. They had the audacity to call this a "goodwill gesture" I immediately paid the $8,000 invoice and respectfully requested they honor the "cap" by rescinding the packing invoice. They refused blaming me for the following: "Added furniture from family" False: every item was reviewed during Kris's walk-through. "Lack of space" False: my new home had the same layout plus a cleared 1,600 sq ft garage. "Changing furniture placements" False: I provided a detailed blueprint as requested. "Extra trip requested by me" 100% untrue. I explicitly voiced concern over the multiple trips. Disturbingly, they even blamed my 7-year-old, Lexi --though she was only present during the one day things actually went well (when Delina was there). (Lexi had been excited to have her large American Girl dollhouse reassembled--something Haul-It had taken apart and promised to put back together. Instead, they left it in broken pieces. Picture attached. I guess that was their way of "getting her back.") They topped this off with threats of "legal action" for not paying the surprise additional invoice fast enough--which ironically, was all paid within the same number of days it took them to NOT finish the job I will be filing legal complaints, citing: Underage labor Misrepresentation of costs Unfinished services Repeated harassment over billing I trusted them. I needed help. Instead, I was overcharged, gaslit, and blamed--then left with a broken and missing items, and a child who cried over the state of her cherished belongings. I still can't believe the incompetence, rudeness, and dishonesty. Get everything in writing. Triple whatever they quote. And be ready to finish the job yourself!
