A DEMOLISHING COMPANY WITH A HEART!…read more I can't say enough good things about Affordable Environmental, the owner Tony Chase, and his work crew. I've been trying off and on to leave a review and finally figured it out. In Spring 2023, Tony was hired to demolish a condemned 1930's farm house on my property that needed to come down. Everything was done on time, responsibly, and by the book, with asbestos abatement included. All for a very competitive price. And then the big twist happened, which really confirmed Tony's stellar reputation: After being told by the asbestos workers that there may be an old log cabin underneath the farm house, Tony took his time and "skinned" the side off, rather than just demolishing everything. He was able to do so because he is very skilled with a track hoe; it was like watching an artist at work! And sure enough, underneath was a solid log cabin structure that our local historical society estimates to be an old logging cabin from circa 1870's. Intact cabins like this are very hard to find and a historic preservationist is currently conducting research to confirm the age and ownership. But Affordable Environmental, aka Tony Chase, didn't stop there. Tony felt very strongly about keeping this historic find safe during the winter so it wouldn't deteriorate. He volunteered the materials and staff time to construct a roof structure, wrap the building in plastic, and install one of his own large dehumidifiers to keep it dry inside. And it's working! Research on this historic logging cabin can continue and perhaps grants can be found to preserve the structure for the long term. Thank you Tony Chase and the AE crew!

We had Joshua and Evelyn come out to take a look at our brand new yard. We finished building and…read morenow we needed to have something amazing done in the yard. Our yard was not easy, it's long and narrow, there are trees that block the sun and where the house stands it is very close to the neighboring lot. Also we are not avid gardeners, we wanted something different that did not require to much work. After coming out and walking the space, and sending up their drone. They came back with a design incorporating what our desires were, and what plants would survive us and the conditions in our yard. Evelyn is an expert with plants and plant identification, she really is amazing. They brought us our landscape plan, and one on a pdf. This included where we would get the most sun, which was very accurate as I thought the most sun was in a different spot. They came and went to work, and I mean work since there was nothing here but dirt and poison hemlock. Joshua and his crew put in deer fencing, a privacy fence, garden boxes, a shed, a stone patio, in the backyard alone. In front along the street we got a circular driveway, a stone wall around the house, a path from the top down to the driveway that will accommodate moving garden tools, and the garbage can up and down. The poison hemlock was taken care of. We now have a mini orchard, four garden boxes, and the most amazing ground cover, phacelia, which has come up twice, spring and we are watching it grow again this fall. Phacelia grows about two to three feet, it is a sea of blue moving with the wind and is low maintenance. It is just mind blowing to be in the garden having morning coffee with hundreds of busy bees! They just love it. Someone with bees in Port Townsend has benefited from the phacelia in our garden. Your Welcome! Savory brought in soil from Shorts Family Farm, and I have swiss chard that is three feet high, it looks like something from the tropics, it is amazing. I planted tomatoes in the garden boxes along with romaine, pea, parsley, beets, and some beans. Due to the soil, all did exceptionally well. It has been years since I grew food. At first I wasn't sure I wanted to grow much, but now I have been so encouraged by this harvest, that I am already planning what to grow next spring. Savory met our expectations and beyond. They showed up everyday and worked hard. We still call Joshua about what is what and how to take care of it, and he is very quick to come out and walk around with us. If something is growing that I don't recognize I take a picture of it and send it to Evelyn, she can identify accurately from the photo. Savory is part of our Port Townsend family. If you are looking for something beautiful and done right call Savory. We highly recommend them.

Josuha made time to visit my home shortly after I called for an estimate. Drawing upon considerable…read moreexpertise and paying close attention to what I had in mind, he designed the perfect fence for me, complete with 3 gates that harmonize with both the fence and the house. (By sharing drawings and photographs with me, he made sure that his design had my approval before construction began.) Work on the fence began when anticipated and was pretty much completed within 48 hours by 2 hardworking men who were consistently courteous. Moreover, without being asked to do so (or charging me to do so), they carted away a large pile of branches that had accumulated when shrubbery had to be pruned to avoid interfering with the new fence. (They also did the pruning--but only after asking for permission and showing me the branches that they recommended removing.) When 3 weeks later deer figured out how to get into my garden because of a small gap between my fence and a neighbor's fence, Joshua returned and saw that the gap was quickly patched. (My garden has now been deer-free for more than a month--a great blessing because deer are prolific in my neighborhood and had come to see my garden as an all-you-can-eat buffet.) I recommend Savory highly and without reservation. I am delighted with my fence and the service I received for a fair price.
