I previously rate this company high. However I just found out how poorly the handled my furniture. Upon sitting on one of the beds it BROKE!!! Also, I have 3 useless bookshelves. The pins needed to hold up the shelves are missing. Isaiah told me they were in my old home office tape together in a ball. I went back there and found nothing anywhere I looked. Afraid to sleep on either bed that they reassembled. I removed the photos and changed the rating because Jerome from Moving ahead did an excellent job of correcting all our issues. I view the measure of a company not only on the original work but how they handle any issues that occur from the move. Moving Ahead Services did an excellent job correctly every issue we had. On July 17th I went in to pickup a reserved van. I was informed I needed to do the pickup on the app. The desk man stated that they get very busy and went automated pickup. Ok, I downloaded the app while in the store and proceeded to check out. I ran into a minor issue that the desk staff helped with. I the was directed to the van that was running in the lot. After going through the prompts thre times, I was not able to get all the photos required. I returned to the office for help where I was informed that "I am to busy" to help... he was staking boxes. Too busy to help a customer? I went to the McKnight location where a high level of service was provided. Moving ahead lied to me about my price for Moving. I received the estimate and when it was time for them to pack up my belongings they turned around and left me hanging and did not return. When the price went up, I said ok I am ready to go. They never returned my deposit or explanation of them leaving. Later on down the road I received a phone call from them wanting to negotiate for at least my deposit back. They did not give me my deposit back or apologize for their wrong actions in handling it. Called them 3x and still have not had anyone contact me to pick up those boxes. I initially gave MOVING AHEAD a very good rating based off of our first interaction. Gave the referrals and tips. However, they changed their policies recently without providing me this information when I booked my move initially they charged me $50 deposit which was very reasonable not a problem however the night before I am scheduled for service, they contacted me and said I had to call their number in order to confirm which I did. I already confirmed the day before. When I called, they said they wanted to charge me for their minimum hourly fee before they even confirm my appointment the next day which is $210 on top of the $50 I gave them. I told him that was ridiculous. What is up with that that didn't happen last time I Hire them and I pay them in full so I am not a high risk customer They said they want to charge me their minimum hourly f fee for $210 before confirming the service the next day. Why didn't they mention this to me when I booked the appointment? Absolute BS ! I told them I understand you want to protect yourself, but how do I even know they will come? He said we have been in business many years trust me! I told him that I was considering canceling and could I have my $50 deposit back he said " yes". He was friendly. However when I called backe to cancel I had to call several numbers. The fake manager was rude and belligerant. I asked for my deposit back that John, the representative said that that would be no problem but now she has an issue with it and says no I can't do that. This is not a matter of being able to afford anything or losing $50. It's a matter of principle. You don't ask for a $50 deposit at time of booking then the night before a call ask for a $210 deposit the night before service. I asked him why they changed their policy. They have a few bad actors of course they did however, I actually use them before and pay them in full and tipped their movers. $20 apiece. I am not a high risk actor. I'm angry with the manager, not the other representatives. This is not how you treat your customer let alone repeat customer consumer be aware. read more

We had an incredible experience with this moving company--truly top-notch and professional from start to finish. Austin and Shack helped with our move, and they went above and beyond. Austin was especially knowledgeable about our Sleep Number bed--he uninstalled it and set it back up at the new place with no hassle. We didn't have to lift a finger or even Google how it works. Both Austin and Shack were very prepared. They carefully wrapped our wardrobe, dresser, and bed, ensuring everything was protected. Not a single item was damaged during the move. This was a night-and-day difference compared to a previous experience we had a few years ago with one of their competitors, "Two Men and a Truck," where things were poorly wrapped and ended up damaged. This time, the process was smooth, respectful, and professional. They even went out of their way to help us move an extra item just out of kindness--something we truly appreciated. Before moving day, Kyle clearly communicated the pricing and explained everything in detail--no surprises. On the day of the move, their moving coordinator reached out to check if we needed any supplies, which was such a thoughtful touch. I got a new piece of furnature only to realize it was too heavy for me to carry from my van to the front door, and measuring it I couldnt figure out how to get it through the door even if I got it there. I called a bunch of professional movers and was looking at a huge bill, but these guys were willing to wave the normal 2 hour minimum and do the job for an affordable flat rate. No fees, no gas or travel charges, no tip, I just paid them over the phone and the job was done an hour later! read more

From the beginning this was a smooth process. This move included 3 stops before arriving at new house. John, Shane and PJ phoned before arriving at first stop. They arrived on time and quickly began covering my handrails and wrapping the furniture. First stop completed and onto furniture store where they picked up a sectional, then onto an apartment where they swiftly loaded the truck for delivery at new home. These guys were so respectful of the new homes walls and placed furniture where asked. Total came in under budget due to the fast work. We would hire company again in a heartbeat. We booked with this company 2 weeks in advance to move a one bedroom apartment to a new local place within a mile scheduled for November 2022. I have moved twice before including long distance so I'm aware of how companies work/what to expect etc. What did NOT go well: - Guys who turned up had NO idea we needed to get packed up (even though our discussion with the company had been three times with a list of inventory that was needed to be "packed). - - Both workers who were moving stuff complained throughout how their company had not told them about this move requiring packing and gave them a narrow window (my discussion with the company reps multiple times had been about either a 2-4 or 3-5 hour windows including packing and transporting) - My family and I packed all the stuff that was remaining (this could've been a nightmare if we hadn't preemptively packed a few things beforehand anyway) - One of the guys (let's call him X) left his wrench at my old place and told me they needed it to tighten the bed screws. After paying them (and buying them lunch pizza) I drove them back to the old place where X threw an unprofessional tantrum about how he "will not go back to tighten the bed screws". At this point it was clearly unprofessional and childish. It's a shame because they were very polite and nice throughout the process at a personal level. I can understand their need to go home but I paid for this service. And if Moving Ahead is not good to their workers, it is a bigger problem. - I have moved three times including a cross country move before - We paid $805 for a total of 5.75 hours - this could have been a $500 ish move and I believe their non communication has cost us frustration and a lot more time than needed. What went well: - Up front price - No hidden charges - Polite staff - Easy booking and changing date of move **I have talked to Clay this morning (day after move) to discuss my concerns and I will be updating this review as/if they schedule someone to come back and tighten the screws again. read more

I have used this service for 3 moves now but I was nervous to do this last one because the previous move with them they had a very unhappy employee that mishandled two pieces of my furniture, one of which is the crown jewel of my possessions. But after discussing this with Lisa at Moving Ahead, she talked to their General Manager (Jerome) and he asserted that he would personally be on-site to make sure the move went smoothly and that this particular piece of furniture would be handled in the most careful way, and it was. This last move was executed so well and I was SO pleased with the exceptional team they sent (Bobby, Sam & Shane). They were polite, friendly, listened well, even made changes to where they put some of the furniture, after I changed my mind a couple of times. I got no pushback on anything and they were great about covering the new carpets and just treating me and my possessions with respect. I will always use them in the future now, as they have proven to me with this move that they care about their customers and do want them to be happy! Well done! read more

I have had enough of my own bad experiences with moving companies in the past as well as heard enough from my friends to do a lot of research before I picked my moving company. I was planning a move and really wanted to find a company that would pack everything up and move it for me. I landed on this moving company after getting recommendations and ready all the reviewed online. Moving Ahead Services was so prompt and helpful. They brought someone out to look at my property so they could give me an accurate quote, which I truly appreciated. And he was also very honest with what they could move, what they couldn't move and what they may not put back together due to safety restrictions, which was really only the crib because they wanted to make sure it was put back together correctly and safely since a child was going to be in it. They came one day to pack everything up and were so courteous and quick. They were done in less than 4 hours packing, this was a 3 bedroom house. They were so efficient I really had nothing to do the whole time. A team came the next day to move everything. Again everyone was very courteous and quick to work with again. They moved everything into the truck in less than 2 hours and we were on to the new house where they moved everything in very professionally. Asking me exactly how I would like the furniture arranged in each room. My only mistake was not paying them to unpack all the boxes, because they would have been way more efficient than I have been at doing it. I was on my own for this move and my spouse was only available after moving into the new house. As we have been unpacking the boxes we have both been genuinely impressed by how well everything was packed and not one glass was broken and nothing was damaged. In this situation I truly believe you get what you pay for. Moving Ahead Services may not be the cheapest, but you are paying for professional movers who truly care about what they are doing and want to make sure they leave you completely happy and satisfied. read more

We used Moving Ahead Services at the end of September, 2022. Due to improper training, one of the employees dropped a cabinet & it fell off of the lift. He tried to move the piece by himself instead of waiting for assistance from the two other employees. We got quote from a furniture company for replacement. It was $3000.00. I found a reputable repair person who could repair the piece for $750. Moving Ahead Services offered us $250. They never sent anyone to look at the furniture. Even though the incident was clearly their fault, they would not be accountable and blamed us for not buying additional insurance. The cost of additional insurance was $200 plus a deductible, so that would not have made the monetary loss whole for us. The communication has been poor. Every conversation was generated by us. Jerome, the General Manager at the Mt Nebo location was unprofessional. He called us extortionists. Cleveland corporate was to call us back within 48 hours of talking with their representative. No call. When we call & ask to speak with the President, Jeff Collins, he is not available. read more

Quick, efficient, and so personable and friendly! We had a sectional sofa that we wanted on the 3rd floor and I was amazed when they got it up there! It had to fit through a 27" doorway and the sofa was a hair under 27" tall, but somehow, they made it work. Now, if we ever move, I'll either have to shove it out a window or call these guys to work their magic. Highly recommended! RUN, RUN, RUN AWAY! This company is a nightmare. We hired MAS based on reviews, that they were supposed to be professional. I made every attempt at due diligence to ensure the best results related to our move. In the interest of brevity I will say that every element of this transfer went wrong- The company rep promised that the packers were employees, not sub contractors (None were!); the driver lied many times and in the end quit his job, taking all of the paperwork with him-it took months to resolve this with the government to get our moving expenses settled; some of our personal effects were stolen; we had a major damage claim, and the insurance that was offered wasn't worth the paper it was printed on. On that subject, the claim was handled by a third party, CSIPros, and after extensive efforts to document all of the damage, the company involved yet another party and in the end we got about 1/2 of the total of our claim-it was blatantly obvious that is the typical MO. I have dozens of emails I retained as proof of this nightmare. Moving Ahead Services sucks! Save yourself the aggravation and look elsewhere! read more

In December of 2021, we used Moving Ahead Services in Pittsburgh. The move went well. We decided to use them again. Not so good if you have an issue. A piece of furniture dropped off the liftgate, as only 1 of the 3 movers was attending this piece. The furniture was damaged in several places. We filed a claim w a third party company who was of no help. We then went to the Pittsburgh GM and finally HQ in Cleveland. People only wanted to tell us that that we didnt buy the additional insurance so we were only going to be reimbursed( started at $175 and landed on $250)for the damage. The unit was $3000 new and is $750 to repair in several places. The last communication was supposed to be with Adam-VP, who was supposed to call us in 48 hours 7days ago. We still have not heard from him. We are only looking for repair value. This is absolutely a Training issue and we are paying the price. How would you feel if this happened to you? Moving Ahead has stated Core Values to include customer service. We aren't seeing them. No calls back and only protocol followed. We are truly disappointed in their lack of responsiveness and customer care. read more

I had a very short distance move done by Moving Ahead Services. Moving is stressful enough as it is. When they were gone, I realized that the entire right bottom side of my very new tv stand with fireplace was missing the wood that keeps it even. It bothered me that it was broken but not ONE of the movers admitted it was broken and the very large piece of wood must have been thrown away. I filed a claim in a timely fashion and realized I never received a bill of lading which is required. I have my pictures and everything ready. I had to keep calling. The only return call I got was from Jay A. from CSI Pros (who do their claims). Jay A. from CSI was willing to go ahead with the claim if Moving Ahead would o.k. it. Mike, whom I've spoken to once denied it! Then when I tried to get him to call me again he wouldn't get on the phone. What a coward! For my last move I used Two Men and a Truck who were extremely professional and pointed everything out to me that was shaky or like the tv stand was broken. They were much more professional and MUCH better priced. If you want quality and no problems, use Two Men and a Truck! I give MA a minus 20 stars! read more

They called the day before to confirm when the movers would be arriving and to let me know the movers would call me when they are 30 minutes before arriving.
