Variety of tapas
Sean W.

Great service and a wonderful place for a happy hour or dinner. We wanted to order more but ended up getting too full and had to stop. So good and we will be back again soon.

Crab Tosta

Went for a quick dinner on a Wednesday after an event, not feeling super hungry but wanted to eat. We only had three items but were full and didn't even finish everything we got. We got the garlic shrimp (not pictured), crab tosta and Hotel Madrid Paella. The garlic shrimp was delicious and the sauce that it came in was so so good. The crab tosta was good too, very crispy. The hotel Madrid was okay, I liked that it did have a lot of pieces of squid and shrimp. Service was quick and our server was very nice. Ambiance was nice and quiet.

You cannot be a happy hour like this. It was a great way to come in and try a bunch of different dishes as well as their standard menu without breaking the bank. Tried the hot honey tosta (fav), drunken goat, cauliflower tosta, champinones al ajillo (fav) and the chefs paella. overall, the food was great. Our server was very attentive and we sat in the bar area, which was perfect for an early dinner. Definitely give this place a try, especially with those prices for happy hour.

Went to Movida with two other people and we all had a great time! Food came out super quick and everything was delicious and never lacked flavor. Definitely recommend the empanadas. They were made with a puff pastry exterior which was unique and tasted great. We also loved the churros, although the chocolate sauce was just Hershey's syrup and did not taste good with it. But the churros didn't even need a dipping sauce! The grilled zucchini was a last minute add and so glad we did! It was charred so it became crunchy which paired well with the red sauce and goat cheese topping. The crab toast was interesting. Not my favorite but was fun to try still. Sliders were good but had a strange lemony flavor. Our total was roughly $100 and all 3 of us left full. Therefore I would not recommend the unlimited tapas unless you are all starving. It would have been over $150 and our sliders and churros wouldn't have even been included Overall I'm a sucker for a tapas place because I love trying a bunch of different things!

Amazing restaurant with delicious little Tapas plates. We went here for happy hour as a bonus, where everything is a dollar, three dollars and five dollars.! everything we tried was absolutely scrumptious! Our bartender went above and beyond as well, and the ambience is beautiful!

This spot is such a vibe. Recently went for the first time in a bit and ordered a handful of tapas and drinks with some girlfriends. Literally THE spot for this kind of night! We loved everything we ate and drank. First off, the piquillo pepper marg is so refreshing, not too sweet, and has the right amount of tequila & lime. Had to have two of them :) Espresso martinis and rose were among the other drinks enjoyed by my friends. For tapas we had the barbacoa tacos, mushroom tostas, patatas bravas, drunken goat plate, and mushroom croquetas. Oh and the garlic shrimp! Truly so much flavor in each dish. If I had to pick a fave it might be the bravas (crispy potato dish) because the sauce was damn good with the perf kick to it. Service was very friendly and attentive. Atmosphere and ambiance on point. Thanks for another lovely night out, Movida!

Ambiance was nice, dark and moody, service was good and fast. We went there for Christmas Eve dinner. It is all you can eat. Plates were quite big portion for Tapas. To be honest, I wish they were smaller portion so we can try more. Paella was extra. Wish some simple desserts could be included in the meal. Two seats table was quite small, hardly can fit our dishes. Food was delicious. Service fee was a bit pricey 22% on top of that when you sign there is also an area asked for tip which I add more of course. So total cost of the meal cost a lot more than anticipated.

Such a great place! My friend and I dined for a belated birthday. We had an early reservation and the bar area was already filled for happy hour. We were seated in the dining space near the kitchen. There is another dining room near the entrance, but I liked the main dining space better - more homey and warm. We asked our waitress for recommendations and she steered us well! We tried the tomato bread, potatoes, meatballs, coquettes, and garlic shrimp. We also shared a bottle of wine. The food was well-paced, service was kind and helpful without being overbearing. Only negative was they did acknowledge or ask if we were celebrating anything. Would return to try other items and have a cozy/classy night out!

Who doesn't love Movida! Yes it only gets better with their happy hour. We truly have loved attending Movida as we have dones so a few times now and even chose it as the spot after we got engaged. Movida is a tapas style restaurant who also does a great Paella. I will say make a reservation ahead if going on a weekend or enjoy their happy hour from 4-6 daily including weekends. It's the best deal ever as you get $1,$3, and $5 tapas options including our favorite patatas bravas. The food here is truly remarkable and the service is always great even when busy. Their GM even hops in to help the team out and add to the experience. Also with their new addition the ambiance has elevated even further which I didn't know could be possible. They create a great night out with friends or romantic date with a loved one. Also must try the Paella, Hot Honey Tosta $1 during happy hour and Patatas Bravas $5 during happy hour!

Piquillo Pepper Margarita
Jaimielyn B.

I met a couple of friends here based off another friend's recommendation. Anticipating a busy Friday, I booked a 5pm reservation easily and was able to be seated right away as the dining room was on the quiet side until closer to 6-7pm. I got the Piquillo Pepper Margarita as my first drink. The flavors were good and balanced. It's on me for not knowing that piquillos are a milder, sweeter pepper rather than spicy (I adore a spicy marg) but I do think those flavors came through. My friend enjoyed the red sangria and I tried the white for my second drink. Sweet and fruity, I could definitely see myself sipping on those when their patio is open and the sun is shining! We ordered the pan con tomate, manchego board, and mushroom tosta. The bread for the pan and tosta was good and lightly toasted as advertised, but I wish it had a bit more crunch to hold up those toppings. The chili orange jam that came with the manchego was delicious and a great pairing with the cheese. My biggest mistake was not realizing that the happy hour only takes place at the bar, considering that the three tapas and most of the drinks we ordered fall on the happy hour menu. I reserved through OpenTable and swear I only saw the standard and high top table options, but that's ultimately on me for not being a more thorough first timer. I do wish the happy hour menu extended to the main dining room but can understand limiting it to the bar in such a large space. Overall, I can see why my friend recommended this place and noted it as her favorite of the options she gave me. I'll definitely have to come back to experience the happy hour and the patio! Parking is also not bad. There are spots immediately out front which were unsurprisingly full when I got there but street parking nearby was not difficult to obtain (just have to be mindful of the two hour limit from 7am-7pm when applicable).

Sangria Flight

This is a story about an experience that started off great and slowly got worse, up until the very end. This was our first time here. We had a 6:00 reservation on Saturday and got right in. They gave us a table on the second floor. It's a wide-open space that has a bit of an industrial feel to it. Plenty of light from the large windows. Interesting ceiling light fixtures--an assemblage of antlers with small lights. We met our server right away, got waters, and settled in. Very personable and explained the menu. Ordered the flight of sangria and a Movida Old Fashioned, along with Empanadillas for an appetizer. A small vegetarian empanada made with flaky dough. Super tasty with the included garlic lemon aioli. We were still waiting for our drinks when this food came. When the drinks arrived (which were excellent), we ordered our next course: the Barbacoa Tacos and the Garlic Shrimp. The tacos looked like they were thrown together--not much attention to the plating. The meat was flavorful and tender. The pita was fine but a bit much for the amount of meat filling. The Garlic Shrimp was good. It came with "crunch bread," which the server explained as "toasted." The entrée was good; however, besides the shrimp, there was very little else in the dish (the promised tomato or pepperoncini). Our next course was the Loma Tosta, grilled pork loin. Well, when it didn't arrive after 15 minutes of waiting, we had to wave down our server to ask. After checking, she told us there was likely some mistake and someone else got our entrée. Then we waited another 10 minutes. What came out was good but disappointing. There were two pieces. The first was excellent, with the bourbon peach jam and creamy brie. The second piece barely had any of those two ingredients. During the end of the meal, we barely saw our server. Someone else had to replenish our water, and for the last entrée, we did not have plates, so we simply ate off the serving plate. There are plenty of excellent restaurants in Milwaukee. Unfortunately, our experience at Movida was a huge disappointment. Not sure I would risk coming back for a second try. :(

Strolled over to Movida from the Iron Horse hotel to meet up for a birthday drink and Tapas. We were absolutely Wowed! The warm staff immediately greeted us and we found plenty of seats at the bar. It was Happy hour from 4-6 so p.m. so we ordered sangrias - rose for me and reds for my family. The lovely bartender asked if we wanted to place any food orders right away and since the food was only $1, $3, and $5 during Happy Hour, we began our delightful food adventure. The food came out fast and hot, and we were reminded of each of the dishes names again by wonderful staff. It was all so tasty, so we ended up ordering just about every item on the tapas menu! My favorites were the $5 barbacoa tacos, the potatoes brava, and the cheese platter with jam. My family agreed the hot honey and mushroom toasts were their favorite. After my yummy sangria I was treated to a mezcal " old fashioned" with two types of bitters that tasted smoky and strong - I loved it. My twin and I were treated to authentic churros with a cup of chocolate for dipping and a sweet bday candle to wish upon. The experience felt straight out of Spain and made for such a special evening for us all. A little magic right here on the Southside that you've got to experience. Lovely people and a lovely little place that I cannot wait to visit again! Thank you Movida

I love Movidas happy hour and sangrias! It's a great chance to try some of their food during the week. Movida is so cute, styled very well and has a good chill vibe to it. Service is always awesome, I've never had a bad experience!

Is the patio area dog friendly? And is the Monday sangria happy hour offered on the patio? Thanks!

While we love dogs, we aren't able to have them on our patio at this time. But yes, we do offer Monday Sangria Happy Hour wherever you sit! Hope we see you soon.

Do they serve seafood paella?

Yes! Keep in mind that they make it fresh so you'll have a 45 min wait. But you share tapas in the mean time :) and a couple glasses of sangria

We ordered a plum soju to share, scallion pancakes with seafood, and entrees of Beef Galbi and Rice Cake Dumpling Soup. A small dish of spicy cucumber kimchi was served first which was free. The scallion pancakes was large and we chose to have seafood (vs kimchi) and we were so pleasantly impressed by the amount of seafood especially octopus which is my favorite in the pancake. The Beef Galbi came on a sizzling hot dish, and without the bone but in bite sized pieces with grilled veggies and a side of rice. There's couches and you lounge for a bit. Then you get the menu and have to reread it. It's...unusual. Latin meets soul food. Latin. Meets. Soul food. Oh and also, all the drinks come in snifter glasses. ???? Okay, so I'm not usually a fan of super specific, hipstery themes like this. But I decided to give Snifters a chance. And I'll admit, I liked what they had to offer. The signature dish seems to be the empanadas. These empanadas, however, are filled with unusual ingredients. We ended up getting The Manchester (basically mac and cheese stuffed in an empanada. Decent, but confusing to the senses), The Appalachia (pulled pork sandwich empanada. Solidly good), and The Cream City Standard (beans and potatoes. Easily my favorite, most similar to a traditional empanada). Overall, the empanadas were tasty, despite their oddness! We then moved on to an entree option. I went with Los Camarones, which were giant breaded shrimp served on top of cornbread. The shrimp was excellent. Very flavorful and delicious. The dish as a whole, I thought, lacked a sauce on top. It was a bit dry overall. My friend got the chicken and waffles, which was delightfully served with the maple syrup in a snifter glass. She was a big fan, so it must have been delicious. Overall, I'm surprised how much I enjoyed Snifters. I had hesitations, but the food was unique and flavorful. My big issue: the service was painfully slow. As in, I had to get up and find our server myself, which automatically knocks one star off in my books.
