I wasn't aware they had renovated this place until we arrived, but what a lovely surprise. The place looks great, and the patio is so cute! It felt a little dark for those sitting inside but maybe that's preferred for some. We arrived a little before 6pm on a Friday and only had about an hour until our event and our server, Ashley, was so kind and accommodating! She really was lovely, (and super knowledgeable), and made our overall experience even more enjoyable. We started out with the Gin & Tonic which had a fun presentation and tasted good. We ordered a handful of dishes, I will say the Broccolini was my favorite - highly recommend. The Barbacoa Tacos were tasty as well. The meat portion was large so even one was pretty filling. Maybe a tad more sauce would have made them even better in my opinion, but seriously still recommend! The only dish we were not a fan of were the Curry Noodles, we felt they lacked taste and maybe we just don't like tofu after all - oh well! We only had a couple bites and didn't feel the need to mention anything to our server but she noticed all on her own, and was so kind to ask management if they could remove it from our bill.. and they did. That is some 10/10 customer service right there, which will in itself bring me back to this place many times to come. Overall, we had a lovely (much needed) night out and were super happy we chose this place to dine at. Went on a Saturday morning around 10 to try out the "Pink Brunch" with some friends. The decor and menus went along perfectly with the theme without being too much and added to the ambiance. There are a few different brunch options, and I went with the classic breakfast that included coffee service, a drink, a starter, a main, and dessert for $25 which is an absolutely crazy deal. We also added on the bottomless mimosas and sangria for an extra $6/person. Was a little annoyed that everyone at the table had to pay the extra $6 even though one person was pregnant and obviously not partaking in the special. The mimosas and sangria were delicious, as was the yogurt and the birria burrito I had. The churro for dessert was okay - it felt a little greasy and chewy and I didn't finish it. We were the only table in the restaurant for the first 30 minutes or so and the service was a little disappointing. It never got too busy because of the weather, but it was hard to get our server's attention to get refills on the bottomless drinks. Brunch at Movida is easily one of the best deals in Milwaukee and you should go check it out asap. But be prepared for a little slower service, especially if they're busy! read more

Beautiful hotel restaurant in Walker's Point. The neighborhood has a lot of character and the interior is done up in pink, which many patrons will dress to match. Service was friendly but they raised their prices like crazy; bottomless mims used to be $7 but now they're *$21.* Food was fricking excellent though. For a drink you can't go wrong with their sangria, it is delish! A classy spot that works as a casual night out or date night. What an amazing brunch experience!! If you are considering taking the girls to PINK BRUNCH just do it!! I already cannot wait to make another reservation. I had been to Movida once a couple of years ago and returned to take my brother to happy hour the other day. The tequila sangria was just as yummy as I remembered and we really enjoyed the tapas we tried- the empanadas were our favorite, but we also enjoyed the ham board and the cheese board. I was very excited to try Movida after hearing great things and looking for a tapas restaurant in Milwaukee, but it did not live up to my expectations. We split started out with sangria flights and they were very sweet / syrupy. None of us could finish them. For tapas, we ordered empanadillas, croquettes, grilled zucchini and lomo tostadas. We loved the croquettes. Perfectly cooked, crunchy exterior with a soft inside. The grilled zuchininwas fresh and had a great sauce. The empanadillas and lomo were just ok and probably wouldn't order again. The paella was good but not the best I've had. The squid was a bit rubbery and there wasn't much chorizo. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the chicken was delicious. There was a good taste to the rice as well but none of our favorites. Movida is one of our favorite places for a date and we end up coming here at least a couple times a year. We have only been here for dinner previously, so to try something a little different we came for happy hour. Their happy hour is everyday from 4-6pm and includes dollar tapas at the bar. Of note, there are no deals on drinks for happy hour, which is a bit of a bummer, but you can't go wrong with dollar tapas at all especially when they're this good! We made reservations for seats at the bar. When we initially go to the restaurant, we felt a little silly for making reservations for happy hour, but we soon realized that it was good we did because the place got packed FAST! As soon as we sat at the bar, we were offered complimentary garden paella. It was absolutely delicious and set the perfect mood for the rest of the evening. The paella was cooked really nice and the flavors all melded together beautifully. We ultimately ordered a bunch of the tapas - jamón croquetas, pan con tomate, hot honey tosta, emapanadillas, cauliflower tosta, patatas bravas, and mushroom tosta. My absolute favorite were the empanadillas. The shells were super flaky and crispy and the filling was scrumptious. I wasn't sure about the carrots when just reading it on the menu, but it really was very good: kind of sweet, very savory, and the aioli was a great accompaniment. My husband's favorite were the croquetas. He said they were crispy and creamy and he could've eaten several plates of these! Of the tostas, my personal favorite was the cauliflower with honorable mentions of the pan con tomate and hot honey tosta (which also made a good breakfast toast the next day!). Along with the food, I got the tequila (seasonal) sangria and the seasonal margarita. Both were easy sipping! My husband got the Movida Old Fashioned and an Estrella Damm. The Old Fashioned was very sweet - tasty, but may not be what you're always in the mood or looking for in your Old Fashioned. Tapas style dinner of 6 dishes. The pastas braves and the shrimp were a B+, the meatballs, bread, and broccolini a solid C. The 6th dish was so memorable I can't even recall what it was. Overall the meal was the height of mediocrity. The acoustics are dreadful. Our group couldn't converse unless we shouted at one another- this is made worse with the background music. Movida's space has amazing vibes. Plus they serve up delicious eats to boot! Serving up Spanish style tapas, it's a place to go and share amazing food with friends. Also, they have heated outdoor dining that made our Autumn. Our table was flanked by hanging carpets, which made it feel more like a heated, cozy booth than an outdoor table (which we loved!). We didn't try it but they have unlimited tapas for roughly $45/per person every night they're open. Definitely could be quite a deal if you're with a hungry bunch! They also serve paella! We didn't get the full paella but did share a paella burrito which rocked socks. Truly every dish we ordered we enjoyed. Get reservations because this spot is understandably busy! Had an occasion to visit Movida for my birthday with a group of 8 friends during the month of December just before the Christmas holiday. We arrived and entered a large dining room, one of two and were directed to the bar as our table was not ready. While we had a reservation and the dining room was about half full we did experience a 20 minute wait to be seated. This didn't present too much of a problem since some in our party hadn't seen each other for some time so were able to catch up over drinks. The restaurant itself is modern, neat and clean, appearing to go for upscale and fine dining but tables with paper napkins always is a step down for me. Anyway service was quick, our server answered questions we had and took our orders quickly. Food came just a short time after, and the food was really good and serving size much bigger than what I would have expected from a tapas restaurant. We ordered and shared a variety of dishes, Barbados tacos, garlic shrimp, broccolini, Spanish meatballs and street noodles, mushroom tosta being some of the favorites. Also sampled were the lomo tosta, patatas bravas, crab tosta, pimento cheese and jamon croquetas. The last being the only dish I wouldn't recommend. It was supposed to be a croquet of Serrano ham, bechamel, lemon aioli and chive. There was no hint of the ham at all, which disappointed. On the whole the food was excellent, plentiful and for the most part arrived quickly. Like many restaurants today the room was a bit noisy, and the server who took our orders did not deliver them. This causes a bit of confusion when various runners bring out the food and have to hunt down just where it needs to go. While the $50 charge per person might seem intimidating it was worth every penny. The only caveat is that if you intend to experience the unlimited tapas, the entire table is expected to dine that way. This is an establishment I would have no hesitation recommending for those looking for something a bit different from the usual Mexican-American fare we are used to experiencing. read more

The last time we were in Milwaukee, we were looking for a new dinner place. In our research we discovered Movida because of their unlimited tapas dinner deal. Could this be real? Unlimited delicious Spanish tapas for a reasonable price of $44? Yes it is real AND delicious! First of all, the decor and ambiance of Movida are very fun, chic, and welcoming. We felt transported into a fine dining experience the moment we walked in. The wait staff were very professional, kind, and helpful. Furthermore, everything was very clean. Second, the menu is amazing. With a wide variety of delicious drink options (wine, beer, sangria, house cocktails), there is something for everyone! I tried two cocktails and my husband had two beers. However, we forgot to take pictures. They were delicious and reasonably priced. Finally: the food. It was AMAZING! We started with the drunken goat cheese and crackers, croquetas jamon, and broccolini. The croquetas were the biggest hit, but all were delicious. Next we got the crab tosta, garlic shrimp, and Spanish meatballs. We loved all three and would eat them all again! Then we decided to try some of the Asian street food options and were blown away. I got the street noodles and ate them beyond being full just because it was SO GOOD! My husband got two rounds of the Zhou's wings because he loved the flavors so much! We finished our with a round of patatas bravas. Always a hit! All this to say: go hungry! While $44 is a great price, you want to make it worth your money and try as much as possible! In honor of finishing my night calls for my surgery rotation, I treated myself to Movida. I ordered the following: -Jamón croquetas -Pan con tomate -Patatas bravas -Garlic Shrimp -Manchego -Hotel Movida paella -margarita y desert oasis My waiter, Adrian, was amazing! He checked in on me and made sure that my food came out on time. He gave such amazing energy throughout the night. And, shoutout to Mike, the manager, for the conversation we had about Spain. Both were very sweet souls. This was my first time coming to Movida. I'd seen the reviews but hadn't been craving tapas. Having been in Madrid twice now, I would say that the tapas are pretty good. I didn't get to try their Spanish tortilla but I am looking forward to trying that on the next attempt. If you order more than 5 tapas, you should definitely pay for the unlimited tapas so you get more bang for your buck. For those looking for a nice date night, this restaurant has an intimate experience. There's nice background music and low lighting. There are some cute tables for two in the restaurant. read more

Wow this place is an absolute gem in Milwaukee. It's located in walkers point, which is such a fun area. We have been twice and always leave so full. The food is absolutely amazing. I haven't been to Hotel Madrid after they merged with Movida. Hubby and I came to celebrate and sat at the bar to take advantage of their happy hour. Happy Hour was 1/2 off drinks. We both started with the red and seasonal sangria. Their sangria is house made and on tap. A bit on the sweeter side but seriously delicious that I had to follow up with their white sangria. They also have a sangria flight! I love that the bartender gave us a small plate of their garden paella as an on the house starter. We were able to reminisce of our time in Granada, Spain where you get a free tapa with a drink order. We got a handful of classics and tapas. If you see garlic lemon aioli on any of the dishes be warned that it is literally crack sauce. So yummy and addicting! Favorites in order-- Grilled Zucchini - I got lost in the sauce in the best way possible - sofrito, malt vinegar aioli, and goat cheese! Heck yes. Patatas Bravas - Love their take but still classic. Crab Tosta - Wish there was more crab but but the flavor was still there. Empanadillas - Flakey yet soft and so much garlic lemon aioli. Lomo Tosta - My least favorite. I think these flavors would do best without being on the crunch bread. We ate way too many carbs to leave room for dessert but will definitely be back for their fall/winter seasonal sangria and churros! read more

First off, the ambiance was amazing. There were little fire pits and heat lamps all around us and the outdoor dining space felt intimate because there were hanging oriental rugs separating our table from others. Our server was very attentive and helpful. I just didn't think that the food was as good as I had expected. The pan con tomate, Serrano sliders and mushroom tosta were great. But the steak was overcooked and the chimichurri wasn't very good, the garlic shrimp was too spicy to eat and the Spanish meatballs had an odd almost rubbery texture to them. The sangria flights were pretty good and the amount was worth what we paid. Our favorite was the red sangria. All in all, if I want tapas in the future, I'll likely return to La Merenda before Movida. read more

I came here to pick up a carryout dinner.  It's a neat Spanish restaurant housed in an old, historic hotel building in Milwaukee's Walker's Point neighborhood.  The interior is beautifully decorated and would make a great date night place.  They also have a colorful patio dining area, and a cozy bar area that is separated from the main dining room.  As far as the food - it was high quality, a change of pace, and all delicious.  Most of the items also came with its own sauce that really complimented the dish.  We ordered several items for a family dinner: - croquettes - patatas bravos - empanadillas - steak tostas - Spanish tortilla (Spanish omelette) - Hotel Madrid (seafood) paella - Movida (chicken & chorizo) paella - bottle of white sangria The bill for the food items was just $83 pre-tax and quite reasonable. I'm glad I knew generally what to pick up though as they forgot the sangria and I had to ask about it.  I would have been very annoyed if I arrived back without a $30 bottle of sangria.  Accidental or not, I knocked off a star as that shouldn't happen with a relatively big item, and it wasn't yet a busy prime dinner time. read more

Drinks are good & service is ok but the bartender forgot to tell us a 18% charge is already added it to the check, so we double tip, her service was good and friendly but not worth 40% of the check.
