I am sharing this story in the hopes it prevents someone else from experiencing the same scenario I…read moredid. I had an insurance change and Dr. Kowal was in in-network for both me and my wife. I found a couple reviews online and all were positive. I decided to give her a try. The office staff are all very nice and the environment is clean and presentable. Dr. Kowal did 4 fillings for me; 2 on top and 2 on bottom. All fillings were between teeth. She tends to rush into the exam room, operate quickly and then leave quickly. She was not very sensitive or gentle while working on my teeth. A couple times I had to ask her to stop because she had her hands pressed on my face while operating and it was uncomfortable. I've been going to dentists all my life and never experienced this before. I've had root canals, wisdom teeth pulled, etc. Immediately following my bottom fillings I was experiencing sensitivity to any temperature of fluid. I called the office and her staff advised me sometimes fillings can take 4-6 weeks to stop being sensitive. I waited a total of 7-weeks, having no use of the left side of my mouth the entire time. I've never had a problem with a tooth healing slowly in the past and I have had fillings and root canals done by other providers. If it were just hot/cold I would have wrote it off as the tooth needing a root canal but even room temperature water was sensitive to the tooth. I went back to Dr. Kowal who offered to do a sedative filling. I asked her to take a new x-ray and examine the current filling for any issues as the sensitivity didn't feel normal. She did the new x-ray and said everything looked fine. I stated I wanted a second opinion and took my new x-ray to my original provider (who is now out of network). My original provider immediately identified 2 issues with Dr. Kowal's filling and later a third issue: First, the filling was not closed on the bottom which allowed liquid to go into the nerve area. Second, the filling was loose; also explains the extreme sensitivity. Third, the cavity was not completely cleaned out and would have had to either be re-done or would've turned into a root canal in time. Two days after my original provider re-did the filling I was feeling significantly better and experiencing little zero sensitivity. My top filling is now also having the same issue. My bottom filling turned into a root canal due to having to be fixed so many times. My top filling is likely going to be a root canal as well. What should have been 2 standard fillings turned into 2 root canals, months of tooth pain and hundreds of dollars spent on crowns due to sloppy work. Just to further confirm my suspicions, my previous provider closely monitors teeth that might be developing a cavity and he said none of the teeth Dr. Kowal worked on showed any signs of a cavity. I refuse to believe in the 6-months between visits I developed 4 cavities. I am concluding Dr. Kowal worked on teeth that did not need fillings and performed sloppy work. Based on this I would NEVER use Dr. Kowal again. UPDATE::: 7/7/16 I have since learned that the teeth Dr. Kowal worked on were marked by my previous provider as going to need fillings in the future. I had previously made the assumption Dr. Kowal worked on teeth that did not need them. That is inaccurate. I still stand by my comments that she is not gentle enough during exams and procedures and the fact that one of my fillings was done very poorly, having multiple issues. I still would not use her again nor would I recommend her.

BEWARE! I scheduled what I believed would be a routine…read moreannual exam and cleaning, and even took time off work for it. Instead, the experience felt misleading and extremely frustrating from the start. As soon as I arrived, they immediately began taking X-rays without clearly explaining the process or what my visit would actually include. Then another staff member came in and started aggressively poking and scraping my teeth, all while telling me I needed teeth removed and pushing me toward a consultation with their oral surgeon. At no point during the visit did I receive the cleaning I specifically scheduled. When I asked the front desk about it, I was told I'd need to book yet another appointment for the cleaning, and they strongly pressured me to schedule a separate consultation with their oral surgeon as well. It honestly felt like one of those dental groups that upsell services to hit quotas rather than prioritizing patient care. What should have been a simple, routine visit seemed intentionally broken into multiple appointments, which wastes time and raises concerns about unnecessary billing. Very disappointing experience. I would not recommend if you're expecting transparency and straightforward care.

ORRIBLE people and business...I was having issues w a bridge done Dr. Victoria Steinberg. A bridge…read morethat was fully paid for to the tune of $6,000 out of my pocket and 1500 from my insurance. Having paid such a steep cost it is within reason I be satisfied with the finished product as well as the treatment received while in the office. At my appointment on Jan 27th I was discussing my loose bridge w the doctor, her answer was to blame and berate me over poor oral care. "The bridge was ruined and she wouldn't re cement it". To talk down and shame a patient in the office is uncalled for and unacceptable. Clearly we could no longer work together after this. I requested my dental records on Feb 3 via notarized letter (per Irma's instruction over the phone). As stated above, my bridge is broken and I can't bite down on food. This issue needs to be resolved and I need my dental records to bring to my new dentist. I called once a week starting Feb 13th follow up on when I will receive my records. I was told they were "in process". I called on Feb 28th to follow up but was accused of harassment and was hung up on. I called back thinking the line was disconnected- bc what professional office would hang up on someone?? - and was told that I was in fact hung up and was hung up on again. Again, how does a "professional" office respond this way. Simply put- these are my records and I am entitled to them. Again, the way I was treated by your office has been abhorrent and without cause. Finally ,March 30th I receive an "invoice" from the office requesting I mail a check for 35.00 for a Fed Ex signatory letter to be sent to my home. $3.00 for records and 32.00 for Fed Ex. April 5th I have the day off from work so I stop by the office at 2:30 pm to make the $35.00 payment so they can fed ex me the records. Dr. Victoria Steinberg was at the window, when I said "hello, I'm here to make the FED ex payment, she immediately becomes aggressive "you have to mail the check" dental is closed now. I ask her why? Why is she making this so ridiculously difficult? She told me "LEAVE NOW" or I am calling the police. She called out her husband who asked me to leave, I ask him, why and how do you think this is ok? I am trying to pay per YOUR request for MY records. Again I was told the Police would be called. Dentist came back out and I said this is crazy and she YELLS "NO YOU ARE CRAZY" she instructed some of her staff to go in the back room not to look at me, she had one of her staff call the police. A 911 call was made and they came. The officer was baffled at why he was there and understandably ANNOYED that it was a 911 call. When he heard the story, only the husband and I spoke to the officer, he concluded it made no sense at all. The officer told me to pick up the report at the station and it would be written I had business to being there, was doing NOTHING wrong and in fact I was the one being victimized. I should also note that the business person in charge of billing is unethical and opened up a credit care card without signed or verbal authorization, I did share that information with the husband and the dentist, he rolled his eyes and scoffed at me. That needs further investigation
