Dr. Hoyt was so compassionate with our dog and with us. She made a difficult situation much more bearable. The entire office staff treated us with respect and compassion. They brough us in immediately to a private room and explained everything to us up front. I found the price for euthanasia to be very fair. While we were understandably very upset and emotional, everyone there treated us with so much empathy and caring. They also were able to connect us with an aftercare service that was also very caring and prompt with sending us the urn with our dog's remains. I recommend this urgent care for anyone that is dealing with this same situation.

BEWARE! SCAM ALERT!! Where do I start…read more3 others in the lobby, took over 5 hrs and my cat didn't need surgery, just a wound cleaning. The absolute worst was, I was asked when I checked him in at the first building if I would accept CPR if needed, and of course I said yes, but was not informed about the price and success rate of CPR, gee I wonder why? When I finally was called into a room for the doctor, a nice lady informed me about a tiny little fact they left out at the first building they left out about the CPR bc she obviously knows about customers freaking out if their pet actually did need the CPR and knew it was terribly wrong. IF needed, not only is it a 5% success rate, but it would cost 30,000.00!!! That's not a typo!! THIRTY THOUSAND DOLLARS!! WHITH A FIVE % SUCCESS RATE!! to save your pets life!! There was also a few more scummy tricks they did, such as when I originally called to ask for pricing they failed to mention it costs more past later in the day, so perhaps that's why they make you WAIT SO DAMN LONG?! to CHARGE YOU MORE!! . I was informed of that after my bill was higher than I was quoted on the phone, luckily it was only a wound cleaning and antibiotics which cost just over 300.00 even that's way too high. I never write reviews but I am so steaming mad and wanting to warn everyone because this experience was SO extremely maddening.

I am heartbroken and extremely disappointed with the care my dog received at Crater Animal Clinic…read more I first brought her in because she had lost interest in food. She was prescribed antibiotics, but after a week there was still no improvement. The vet then suggested IV antibiotics, followed by an ultrasound, which showed a small lesion on her liver. The recommendation was a surgical biopsy. When I asked how my dog would recover from surgery when she still wasn't eating, the response I received was simply to "force feed her." Another test was suggested (a chest X-ray), and desperate to help my dog, I agreed. After hours of waiting with no communication, I had to call myself--only to be told by a vet tech that the X-rays showed no abnormalities and the note from the vet was, "continue with what you're doing." When I arrived to pick up my dog, the first thing I was met with was a request for payment--before I was even able to speak with the vet. It became clear to me at that moment that this office prioritizes dollars over the well-being of their patients. To make matters worse, my dog was brought out soiled and clearly uncared for while in their holding kennel. The following day, a home vet came to evaluate her and immediately identified jaundice--something this vet office never mentioned. Tragically, my sweet girl did not recover, and I had to say goodbye. I am sharing this experience because I would never want another pet parent to go through what we did. Our animals deserve compassionate, thorough, and attentive care--qualities I did not see reflected here.

My (sort of) regular vet is Jessica Voellm at A Street Animal Clinic in Ashland, but, since I do…read morenot live in Ashland anymore and also had a bigger emergency, I came here... Also because they take the Care Credit card. I have a two year old Siberian Husky who was vomiting very consistently, wouldn't eat, and couldn't even keep water down. I was truly convinced he was dying. I went on their website, and made an appointment around 6:30 AM, for their next available vet at 9:45 which was Alexander Hendricks. They called right when they opened at 8 to confirm my appointment, and asked me some questions about what was happening with the dog. She told me I could go in around 9 or so to fill out the paperwork, and then they could see if he could see us a few minutes early (I think she offered because she could probably hear that I had been crying for the last 2 hours). So we showed up early, filled out the sheet and waited a while to have our name called. We did, the dog got weighed and everything, and we sat in the room for the guy. When he came in we both explained everything, what his vomit and his poop was like, his energy level, everything. He got very worried when I said he wouldn't keep water down. He said there could be a blockage in his intestines, and if that were the case, he would need surgery. That drove me and my man's anxiety through the roof. Not just because of the money, but we just don't want to have to put Shadow through that. He took some X-rays, and pulled them up on the computer and let us come up to see and he explained what organs were what, and what the shadowy spots could mean, etc. He said it looked like there was some air in his stomach, so it might just be as simple as some gastric upset and that he just needs to toot. He sent the pictures to a radiologist to see what the spots could mean, because he couldn't tell for himself and wanted to be sure. He had us wait and wait, until he comes out and says "Ok. No blockage." That was a HUGE relief, and we could tell he was relieved too. One thing about Hendricks, he looks and sounds like he has that monotone personality like maybe he doesn't really care about the animals, and he's just... there. But I think he really does. We like how to-the-point he was with us. Like, 'well, it could be this really awful thing, or it could be this smaller thing, but I really can't tell you which is more likely right now. We'll start off by exhausting these possibilities to save you some peace of mind and money. And if it's worse, we will cross that bridge later.' So, he needed to have an IV fluid drip, and get a catheter of his anti-nausea medication. We left him there from about noon until 5:30. He was still exhausted, but tried to get excited to see us! He ate food when we got home and we were so happy to see that. He hasn't vomited at all since we brought him home (took him in 7/18, today is 7/21) and now he's eating more regularly. Not quite as much as he usually gets, but enough to really keep him going, and he's drinking fluids now, too. He is very good about taking his pills, so that's a relief. I don't believe that animals should be medicated, but I know it has helped keep him from vomiting. I really like Hendricks, he's a good guy, was very good to us, and nice to my dog. Will definitely be back here (hopefully not soon)! PS: The one minus star is that they sell Royal Canin and Science Diet. I can't believe that even in this day and age where raw food for pets is on the rise, they would sell that garbage, haha.

I said it's not her teeth . She can't swallow. And acted like the food was hurting her mouth. I go back to my Primary. Cheerful Vet. She cleaned her teeth. Cat still can't swallow. I tried showing her a video of the cat trying to swallow. I told her another retired vet had said the issue is further down. She would not listen. Finally has the traveling ultrasound come to her office. They put my 17 year old cat under again. Shave her. She had a mass by her heart pushing on her esophagus.!! Inept veterinary care by emergency vet and Anette at Cheerful vet. I had my cat euthanized. Cheerful vet paid $100.00 for cremation because she was wrong and put my cat and my wallet through unnecessary pain. Sad that these people are taking advantage of pet lovers at a very critical point in their lives.

But they gave him pain meds and an exam that confirmed that he was blind in that eye and it needed to be removed. We called every other vet we could and simply didn't have enough money for surgery. We went here as a last resort because we were told he was cheap and would work with us on payments. By this time my dogs eye had been out for about 17 hours. It was dry, had hair stuck to it and was completely black/dead and non functioning. This guys plan was to just "push it back in and sew it up, and wait a week or two to see if an infection develops" despite me handing him the paper from the ER vet that clearly said he needed his eye surgically removed because it was destroyed. I was appalled. He was also very rude. He told me to "slow it down" when I was explaining what had happened. His building is dark, dirty, outdated, and overall very creepy. I would never recommend this vet to anyone. At one point, he just got up and left and never came back to talk to us despite us ringing the bell three times. He just never came back. So we left. Thank God for good friends. Because we were able to find someone that was willing to help us pay for his surgery. We went back to the southern Oregon veterinary specialty center down the road where they were able to surgically remove his eye and save his life. It was definitely not cheap. But- save yourself and your pet the stress of trying to go here simply to save some money. From the other reviews I have read this man should not even have a license to practice. I have no idea how he has any decent reviews at all. Take it from me, do NOT take your pet here if you care about their well being.
