I scheduled an establishing appointment for my 12-month-old lab to discuss vaccines, neutering, and microchipping, as well as to address my concerns about his past severe reaction to puppy vaccines. When I called to make the appointment, I explained that I was nervous about proceeding with vaccinations due to his previous reaction and wanted a detailed discussion to help me prepare. I was assured that we would have a discussion regarding the previous reaction and a plan on how to move forward, but unfortunately, that did not happen. I was given a single sheet listing vaccines and their purposes(that I had to press for), but nothing addressing my specific concerns about adverse reactions or a personalized plan for my dog. I tried asking specific questions regarding the neutering--such as whether he would need a cone after surgery and if he could be around his brother afterward--but instead of receiving basic information, I was simply told, "We will go over that when you come in for the appointment." That was the whole reason I made this appointment in the first place. They let me know they had discharge paperwork. When I asked for discharge paperwork to review in advance, I was told they would provide it later. They mentioned they could build me a packet with all kinds of information, but it wouldn't be ready today- despite me clearly outlining what I needed before the appointment. The actual visit felt rushed and uninformative. My dog was weighed, given a quick visual check, and that was it--yet the cost was $62. My boyfriend's 4-year-old dog had the same experience and was also charged $62 (we brought them together) Additionally, when we asked for their nails to be trimmed, my dog moved slightly after the cut, and we were immediately told he would need to be sedated to finish. This was his first time there, and a little nervousness should have been expected. On top of all of this, our appointments were scheduled for 4 PM. We arrived 15 minutes early to provide records and complete any paperwork, yet we weren't called back until nearly 4:30--only to receive a basic weigh-in and visual check. I was really hoping for a more thorough and informative visit, especially given the specific concerns I expressed in advance. Unfortunately, the experience left me feeling unprepared and uncertain about the next steps for my dog's care. read more

4 days ago a kitten walked out of the forest and asked us for help. This was the only clinic that was willing to help. (I called 3 others). Dr. educated us on kitten care. Very helpful as we haven't had a kitten in 20 years. We're scheduled for follow up. read more

I have always had wonderful care with my 3 bulldogs and 2 other dogs. They understand the rescued bulldog has issues with strangers so they handle him with the utmost care. He has allergies to everything so we did the test and got him shots he had been at another vet for several years and they never mentioned the allergy testing. I'm so thankful for all the awesome care my 5 dogs receive. read more

I took a family member's dog here for euthanasia. I have not been here with my own animals. This was their vet. Every animal I have ever put to sleep has been given a tranquilizer first to help them relax. I did not know this was an option. I assumed, incorrectly, that it was standard. I was escorted into the exam room with the dog. The doctor was loading the syringe with a liquid. He did not greet me. And the set up was such that he was behind me as I faced the dog. I asked if that was the tranquilizer. The doctor said, tersely, that if I wanted the tranquilizer option then I could wait with the tranquilized dog in the lobby for 15 minutes while it kicked in. He never looked me in the face or spoke to me about the dog or the decision to euthanize. I was aghast at the idea of sitting in an open lobby with a tranquilized dog. And I didn't want to imagine walking back in the room with a 76 pound tranquilizer dog. Further, his tone was irritated and patronizing. Neither of which I appreciate on a good vet visit, much less a vet visit to put a dog down. I ok'd him to perform the euthanasia without the tranquilizer. And there was no adverse reaction. As I was walking out of the room, the vet said to my back "I'm sorry for your loss." I am disgusted with this vets lack of professionalism, compassion, and common decency . I will never return to this office. And I will tell everyone why. read more

We have been taking our pets to Applegate Animal Clinic for almost 12 years. In the last few months, they've been getting more and more difficult to work with. They have not been helpful with getting special orders of prescription foods, wanting us only to order through them, not very willing to issue prescription for ordering elsewhere. Moving to another vet clinic that was extremely welcoming and even though haven't seen our pets, willing to coordinate with Southern Oregon Veterinary Specialty Center to issue the needed prescription. We have absolutely no issues with Dr. Meyers' treatment of our pets, it's the staff that has been less than professional and difficult to work with. read more

I have been coming here for at least 2 years, and my experience was always sub par.. The staff is NOT friendly and very judgemental. I slowly started switching my dogs to a different vet.. went into what was probably already going to be my last appointment with them.. The doctor never comes out to greet you and you aren't aloud in the room.. I asked about running some tests on my dog and the receptionist/assistant offered no help except that what I was asking for would give me no insight as to why my dog lost her puppies. I said OK then what will give me some information.. she told me she would have the doctor come talk to me. Shortly later the doctor came to tell Me that I would have to RUN a LOT of tests and it would cost thousands of dollars.. That's its! Nothing else, just assumed I had no interest in knowing what tests to run and didn't ask if I would like to start the process..when I had said I already had one blood test ran on her he smugly said where did you do that. I replied at another vets office. Because I was already unhappy with my experience there. I then proceeded to say that I was advised to have a vaginal swab ran on my dog. He laughed and said well obviously they aren't a doctor .. Wow!!!!!! How rude!!! read more

Dr.Meyer is an amazing veterinarian. Our dog was extremely sick and the emergency vet and 1 other local vet couldn't figure out what was wrong. He found it was Addison's disease and was able to help us treat her for the lowest price possible. He understood that we had already spent 1000s and had a baby on the way so he made everything extremely reasonable and would regularly check in with us. His back up veterinarian is not a very smart lady, so when he's on vacation we don't like to be there because of her, but almost all staff and him are amazing! We moved pretty far away and still make the trip just to have him as our awesome veterinarian! read more

Dr. Meyers is knowledgeable and professional, not to mention, a very nice man. The girls in the front are very friendly and also knowledgeable. They are very good with our dogs and cat. Not even 1 Star!!!!! What a crock of shit this place is! This guy whomever your name is owner piece of shit. I waited in the lobby for 30 min for you to return back from lunch!!! You knew you had an apt at 1:50. The desk girls called you twice. I can understand the wait if it's a busy clinic and they are busy helping dogs and clients but no he comes back from lunch 30 min late and he looks like he's drunk. From the moment I walked back to the room with my precious pooch I knew something wasn't right. I explained my dog's situation. She had a rash on her belly and an infected toe. They must be related because I've seen staph infection and it looked identical. He starts accusing me of my dogs "legions" being there for a long time. I explained no only about 2 weeks and I was out of town for one of them. He wouldn't believe me and kept saying your dog has an auto immune disease and severe allergies. Umm bullshit she has a severely infected toe. She's 9 1/2 and she's never had allergies. He didn't even care about the toe he was concerned with her "legions" and demanded I have her blood tested. When I asked why he said he needed to check her lungs and stuff?? Wtf. Why would someone need to have blood work and her lungs checked when she has an infected toe? After simply explaining I didn't see the need for the blood test he stated well I AM THE DOCTOR! And I stated I AM THE MOTHER!!!!! I've been through SO much with my delicate dog and this guy was taking me for a ride. After calling him a motherfucker I stormed out. Called another vets office explained my situation. They said they could squeeze me in. I walked in the office I was seen by a vet within 3 minutes. They were so sweet and loving and attentive to my dog. She simply stated she has a staph infection. They clipped her toenails and cleaned the wound. Sent me away with a round of antibiotics and I was out the door within 15min!! I asked her about the possible "auto immune disease" and she stated no we look for an auto immune disease between the toes. Her rash isn't on her toes it's on her belly. We don't look for auto immune disease on the belly. She said if the rash had been there for a couple years then yes we would need to see what's up. But it's obvious the rash is connected with the infected toe. Take that drunk guy at Applegate fucked up clinic. Anyways after 2 days of antibiotics her belly rash is gone and her toe is on the mend. I would never recommend anyone to go to this vet. No heart at all. read more

Got to be the worst vet I've ever been to. I had a dog with an ear infection and my regular vet was booked up, so decided to try Applegate since it was close to me. I arrived, they didn't have my appointment booked, and both the receptionist and vet seemed to wish I would just go away. They treated the dog worse than me, rough handling and not really interested in doing what was right for the dog. They were going to do what they wanted even when I protested.
