My pug got hit by a truck, and his eye was literally hanging out of his head. We took him the ER vet down the road first and we couldn't afford their prices. But they gave him pain meds and an exam that confirmed that he was blind in that eye and it needed to be removed. We called every other vet we could and simply didn't have enough money for surgery. We went here as a last resort because we were told he was cheap and would work with us on payments. By this time my dogs eye had been out for about 17 hours. It was dry, had hair stuck to it and was completely black/dead and non functioning. This guys plan was to just "push it back in and sew it up, and wait a week or two to see if an infection develops" despite me handing him the paper from the ER vet that clearly said he needed his eye surgically removed because it was destroyed. I was appalled. He was also very rude. He told me to "slow it down" when I was explaining what had happened. His building is dark, dirty, outdated, and overall very creepy. I would never recommend this vet to anyone. At one point, he just got up and left and never came back to talk to us despite us ringing the bell three times. He just never came back. So we left. Thank God for good friends. Because we were able to find someone that was willing to help us pay for his surgery. We went back to the southern Oregon veterinary specialty center down the road where they were able to surgically remove his eye and save his life. It was definitely not cheap. But- save yourself and your pet the stress of trying to go here simply to save some money. From the other reviews I have read this man should not even have a license to practice. I have no idea how he has any decent reviews at all. Take it from me, do NOT take your pet here if you care about their well being. read more

Such a joke! Yes we were 15 minutes late to our appointment but the Dr was so incredibly rude. Not just rude about us being late, he was rude the entire time. Actually said "look at me when you are talking to me" to my husband. Hardly even looked our dog over! We told her that she's been having hip issues and that she is in pain. That she has a hard time jumping up and down from our couch and bed. His response was "she seems to be getting around just fine to me" and when we told him "No she is not fine" without putting hands on her other than to weigh her (which she wailed in pain) he said he would charge us $300 for an xray or we could pay $50 for some pills. Since he's cash only... which seems suspicious, we left feeling helpless. The fact there are so many good reviews for this place is crazy to me. I would take your pets somewhere else. His years of experienced diagnosis is refreshing . No blood tests and IV stalling in most cases. Seems like other vets saddle you with protocol charges and nothing shows up. If your cat or dog is sick it need antibiotics or surgery, not a bunch of expensive protocol procedures showing they don't know what is going on or maybe just a money grab. Mamoud neutered my 2.5 yo dog who at the time was approx 50#s. He did not monitor my dog when he woke up and he licked and chewed at the incision. When I came to pick him up Mamoud went back to get him and he had blood running down his back legs and on his face. Mamoud had the nerve to say the dog made a mess of himself. We left with no pain medications. I was fortunate to get pain meds from a friend who's dog had been neutered recently and she had some left. He had a rough time until we got the pain meds in him. The next day it was swollen and he had a large blood pool under the skin. A friend who is an ND gave me some phosphorus for the bleeding, which worked amazing. Mamoud did out him on antibiotics. When I brought him in day 10 to remove stitches - that were metal wire - he refused because he didn't think I could hold my dog as he has zero help. So he wanted to sedate him again to remove the metal wire stitches. I ended up taking the dog to his regular vet and they easily removed the stitches. The "low cost" ended up not being low cost and my dog suffered unnecessarily!!! What a horrible experience and this man should no longer do surgeries. He should retire. His barbaric old school methods have long expired! Don't take any animal to him for surgery!!! read more

I took my pets here and he was afraid of my puppies and did not give any medication to my cat for a tumor she was chewing off. I took them someplace else and got proper treatment. It was a waste of money. My puppies had ear mites and he told me they were fine. All he did was charge me money and not take care of any of the issues I took my animals there for. If you want your pets treated right and diagnose right, take them someplace else. read more

Im not the type to leave a review but The veteran was so rude, I had never experienced something like that before he did not understand anything through the phone And was basically telling me to fuck and I was asking for some records and he didn't hear the name right and got mad and said to call some where else so I went in person and the actual vet was so out dated every thing was old and dark I was waiting for about 15 -20 mins for him to go the front desk and he answered with such a bad and arrogant attitude he pressed my buttons and pissed me off he should really work on his communicating skills with clients because that made me switch vets so fast and I hope no one go to him read more

I'm really happy I brought my cat in to be spayed. I was warned that the vet is a little abrupt on the phone and he was. But I called back. Got an appointment for the very next day (which is unheard of at any other veterinary clinic). The vet did a beautiful job. After spending a little time holding the cat for him we got to talking and I really came to like him and trust him in his work. The prices are really reasonable, which is also unheard of at any of the other clinics I called. This vet gets an "All Star" rating from me. read more

We took my daughter's rescue cat in to be neutered today. Dr M was great. He is no nonsense, but engaged us in conversation as well. We will be going back to bring in the female sister to the one we brought in today. You can tell by the way he held our kitty that he loves animals. You just know. I just called this clinic (along with several others) with regards to my missing cat, asking if I could email him a picture with a couple of details and to request that they keep their eyes peeled for him should he be brought in... I am AMAZED at the arrogance and cold indifference in his response. He cut me off, said "what do you want me to do about it?" and when I asked if he could simply look at the brief email and picture and scan a cat of that description if he comes in, he said "NO! I don't have time for that." I clarified, "so wait, when someone brings in a pet, you really don't care if he's lost or stolen and won't bother to contact the owner, even if they've informed you they're missing their pet?" "NO, and I'm hanging up now" he said, and he hung up. Maybe my expectations were set too high by literally every other vet in town that I've called so far. They've been responsive and showed genuine concern and willingness to help out. This man made it clear that at the end of the day, he's in it for the money, not the pets or their owners. If you've ever lost a pet, you know how painful it is... do not look to this guy to even pretend to care about that, and please think about whether or not you want your pet's health in his hands, especially when you can't be there to see how he may treat them when you aren't looking. Also... notice how many similar reviews he gets, including on Google...... I'm not the only one who has had this experience. read more

My grandmother recently called to ask how much shots so her puppy would be, she did not hear the number he said and asked what he said and he was very rude and and practically yelled the number at her. She tried to ask another question and he rudely and basically yelled "BYE" and hung up. read more

I am not surprised at all the bad reviews. After seeing them, I feel I should warn people. I was his veterinarian technician and surgical assistant when he first started his business after buying out Dr. Hanawalt. I witnessed him causing the deaths of several animals through his incompetence and mistreatment of them. The people never knew it was he that caused the deaths. Also witnessed pain and suffering due to some botched surgeries that came back in and had to stay. He refused to give pain meds even though the dogs were crying in pain. He got mad if we disagreed and wanted him to. 9It is a horrible experience to hear an animal crying and howling in pain and not be able to do anything about it because the vet won't do anything or let you do anything. He also used stainless steel wire as suture in soft internal tissue (muscle) in spays, etc. Sharp ends sticking up into skin inside. When questioned about long term side effects because of pain and perforations, he got very angry. He did not like being questioned by anyone concerning animal pain and problems he was causing! I could do nothing to help or stop the pain and death he was inflicting and after one month, I could not take witnessing such incompetence and what it was causing, so I quit. One time someone brought a black lab in that had been hit by a car and in shock. He refused to even treat it for shock because the people didn't bring a load of $$$ with them and said, "You go". Another time, he started surgery on a dog in shock before treating him for shock. The anesthetic killed him. I witnessed him misdiagnosing a number of times as well. IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR PETS, YOU WILL STAY AWAY FROM THIS HORRIBLE VET! It seems that even after over 41 years he hasn't changed much - by the reviews I see. BEWARE OF ANY SURGERY! MAKE SURE TO CHECK IF HE IS STILL USING STAINLESS STEEL IN SOFT TISSUE! AVOID!!! read more

After explaining to the boy who answered the phone what was going on with him, he responded with "what do you want me to do?" The vet took good care of my cat and did a good job on her spay. I don't mind that he had me hold her while sedating her in the patient room honestly, and he was not careless in how he handled her. The establishment is pretty old-school inside, but it is clean and the necessary tools are present. This may be how he keeps the prices so reasonable. His certificate is also in the patient room. The vet is pretty direct, has a thick accent, and the way his sentence structure translates is different, but if you keep that in mind while interacting with him, it helps. It's a shame that others have had a less than stellar experience, but my visit was great. read more

I have taken my animals to Central Vet for shots, and have had 4 cats spayed, and two dogs spayed/neutered as well. He has done a good job on all of them and has reasonable prices. This clinic is more old school such as all info is in file folders rather than on a computer which makes it a little slower but you never have a long wait to get in. And I do believe the only form of payment is cash or check, no debit or credit cards. I like the fact that on Saturday's you can just drop in without an appointment between the hours of 11:00 - 2:00. Only downfall is that you are basically his assistant when it comes to exams and shots. You have to hold your pet while he administers the shot. But that has never really been a big deal. read more

Only cares about the money. Wife had brought a cat in to get fixed. He made my wife hold the cat as he sedated him. Then left the room as the cat was crawling around half paralyzed and seizing type activity as my daughter watched. Then he picked the cat up by the neck and put it on the table very roughly. Before hand my wife tried to leave before the shot. He said no and stuck the needle in before she could. Place is gross. Guy doesnt speak good English. And doesnt Care for the animals you bring him avoid at all costs. read more

I almost hate to write this review because I'm afraid Dr. Mahmoud will get too busy. I've been going there for 4 years now and think he is wonderful. Extremely reasonable rates without having to drive all the way to Shady Cove! AND he holds open clinic on Saturdays 12-3. Dr. Mahmoud is very friendly and doesn't pressure you to get more done than is necessary. He's a great find. read more

Little bit of a back story: I brought my dog here over a year ago after I adopted him from the shelter. This vet would not even touch him. Made me open his mouth to show he vet his teeth and basically do his exam for him. We got it done and it was "fine". Fast forward to a year later (today) and I called to see if I could make an appointment to get his shots done. I did not quite hear his response and I said, "I'm sorry?" His accent very hard to understand over the phone. He got extremely rude and yelled, "WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO TO YOUR DOG?!" He yelled at me so loud my fiancé and friend could hear him and he wasn't on speaker phone. I hung up on him immediately. I do not let people speak to me like that. If he was that rude over someone asking him to repeat himself one time I can't imagine how rude he is when there's a real problem. You will never get our money or business. Learn to speak to people with respect and you might be a busier business. It's not wonder no one has left any reviews. read more

After talking with the doctor on the phone at Central Vet I was hesitant to bring my cat to him. I am so happy that I decided to bring him after all. The doctor provided quality yet efficient service. He even spent 30 minutes with me when I came to pick up my cat talking about my daughter becoming a vet and what would be expected of her. He even offered for her to come into the office and chat. I will be bringing my other animals here. read more
