Do all of your mechanics get high at work, or just the ones I got stuck with? It seems as though they get sidetracked. Lose bolts , and nuts. Don't replace them. Spend a couple extra hours looking for crap that could be fixed. Stuff that really doesn't necessarily need repair , and ignore the item that I bought the car in for repair.Then quote an extremely inflated price for parts and labor. Highly recommend for an oil change. I booked the appointment online the night before, super easy. Dropped it off 9:30 and it did take all day until 5. However, for $56 (first time customer) full synthetic on a Saturday when I didn't even make the appointment until the night before...I am ecstatic! You need to double check the work that they do, unless you have a mechanic in the family like I do, you are going to want to read this review and think long and hard about bringing your vehicle to this shop. It's taken me over 3 months to get my car in proper working order after taking it to Mountain View Automotive for steering issues. In this review I will show how Mountain View Automotive is dishonest, incompetent, mismanaged, and not respectful of their customers time, money, or, most importantly, safety. In January, I was having steering issues with my car so after looking around at some different shops and reading some reviews on Google, I decided to go with Mountain View Automotive. According to Google reviews, they seemed like a decent place to bring my car. Pay attention to the negative reviews. Store Manager and Service Advisor: Arturo Alvarado Technician: Joshua B. 1/10/24: I dropped my car off. 1/11/24: I received inspection results Arturo immediately tried to sell me replacement struts and shocks. I had to press him about what was causing my steering issues. Red flag. Long story short, I was told that I needed both Suspension Lower Control Arms and Steering Tie Rods replaced, costing over $2100. I agreed and they began the work. According to them my battery died, another $300. 1/15/24: car was ready to pick up After picking up my car, I immediately noticed it was not driving as it should. I contacted Arturo and explained this, and he told me it was because of the shocks and struts, which I later found to be untrue. 1/24/24: I brought the car to my brother in law, who is a retired mechanic with a backyard shop and lift. -They put two left side control arms instead of a left and right. They flipped a left side control arm and modified it to make it fit one the right side. -The didn't install the washers or nuts on the ends of either control arm that holds on the bushings. - They let me drive away like this, putting my life, the lives of my family, and the lives of other drivers on the road in danger. I confronted Arturo about this with pictures I took. He blamed the mechanic and agreed to fix the issues. 1/24/24: I dropped my car off a second time for them to fix the issues. 1/26/24: Arturo called and told me that he couldn't source the right side control arm, he told me the part was "extinct" and not available. I did a 10 second Google search and found it at an auto parts store. I bought my own part and Arturo agreed to install it. 2/1/24: dropped my car off a third time with the correct part. Picked my car up the next day. My car still wasn't handling properly. An unsettling rattling was coming from the front driver's side. 4/3/24: I anxiously drove my car like this for two months until my mechanic had and opportunity to take another look. - still missing washers on ends of both control arms where bushings are connected - incorrect nut on end of left control arm where bushings are connected causing the threads of brand new control arm to cross threaded. - missing nut on sway bar link on left front - ball joint on left control arm loose and installed upside down, causing rattling After 3 months of anxiety inducing driving, I finally have my car driving and handling properly. Taking my car to this shop was a huge waste of time and the anxiety of driving and not knowing what they screwed up on my car for three months was not enjoyable. The fact that I was given my car to drive like this is a sign of mis-management, incompetence, lack of respect for my time, money and the safety of me, my family and other drivers on the road. I booked a WAITING appointment over a week in advance. They were able to spam me with texts reminding me of my appointment and demanding I be here on time. But was not able to tell me there was anything wrong with the appointment booked. When I arrived ON TIME I was told there is no way I can wait, it is going to take until 5pm to take care of me because there are other waiting appointments. I said I booked a waiting appointment and I will be waiting. I took off all other requests for my appointment and said 'just do the oil change'. They said 'well that is going to take until lunch time.' It was currently 8:30am. This was some of the worst service I have ever received. Mountainview is condescending and ENORMOUSLY overpriced. My brothers and I were on a road trip and our car started smoking. We did lots of research and replaced/filled the antifreeze, as well as discovered that the make/model/car we have is notorious for having the radiator fans bust at a certain mileage. There are SO many auto shops in this area, and we drove around to 2-3 but all of them were full. I called Mountainview and the man on the phone was very kind about trying his best to squeeze us in. However, once we got to the shop, the customer service changed completely. I explained the whole issue and the worker said they would have to do a diagnostic for $130. When I asked if this was going to be in addition to the cost, the worker became hostile. I am a firm believer that all workers should be paid for their time, but I was already certain of the issue, and $130 is shockingly steep in price. They called us four hours later to confirm exactly what I told them on the front end, and then said it would cost nearly $2000 for them to fix the car. They claimed we needed an oil change even though we had one 2 weeks prior, and that they would have to completely flush and refill the radiator with antifreeze - we had done this already the day before. Even after arguing the "necessity" of all the other services they wanted from us, the quote was over $1000 - AND said they couldn't fix it until the next day. So we called and said we would try to fix the radiator fan on our own. When my brother went to pick up the car, the worker was condescending and sarcastic about our ability to fix the car. We promptly went to a Jiffy Lube Multicare across the street, where they immediately confirmed it was the radiator fan and replaced it within 1.5 hours. Furthermore, Jiffy Lube charged us $210 for the parts (compared to $400+ from Mountainview) and $200 for the labor (compare to to $800 from Mountainview). I generally prefer to give my business to local places, but Mountainview is parasitic, and charging DOUBLE the genuine value of an item/time is indefensible. I genuinely cannot believe the positive reviews. DO NOT give your business to these people. read more

Called last night needed an oil change asked if they had the filter because it's a mini they said we'll order it first thing we open at 730 be here right at 730. Let them know i have to drive out of state for a funeral and have to hit the road by 930 or i wont make it. They said no problem. Get here at 730, about 830 ask for an eta they call about the filter, it was ordered an hour ago... their supply shop doesn't open until 9. Supply manager offers to bring it even though they aren't open. (All of this could have been avoided had they ordered it last night like i asked them to) so here i am sitting still 955am and oh they arr finally putting it back together should only be another 10 min. Note to self don't show up when you have a family emergency they have no urgency nor accountability for not listening. The lack of care leaves a lot to be desired. Super frustrated, it feels like they stalled even more once I asked them to put the filter type on my record so next time I can be sure I won't be late, they said we'll we usually have it in stock, then why didn't you confirm that last night when I specifically asked? My regular mechanic of 15+ years recommended I go to a shop that specializes in electrical work to have some work done, so I called MVA. My first impression was that it's a nice shop and the employees are personable. They diagnosed the issue and repaired the wiring/harness for the Blower. About a week later, same issue, so I took it back to MVA. I was told that a more expensive repair was required. I had to replace the blower and resistor for the heater/AC. Okay - I don't know enough about that, so I trust what they are telling me. Fast forward to this year, and the blower stopped working correctly. It was an intermittent issue, and I wasn't too worried about it at the time. I had taken my vehicle to my regular mechanic to have the radiator hose replaced, as well as some other "under the hood" work, and we talked about the blower not working correctly. They told me to take it to the place that replaced it previously because it should still be covered under warranty. I wasn't in a hurry because again, the blower was working, but the settings were "crossed" (low was low, medium was high, high was off). About a month later, I needed to have a window motor/switch replaced, so I called MVA and made an appointment for that, and mentioned the intermittent blower issue. They took care of the window and checked the blower, and I was told "it's fine". I also found out that they had the wrong VIN number on my vehicle but they said that it didn't matter - the part they replaced last year was still the right part, even though the model years are two years apart. Maybe that's relevant, maybe not. I'm not a mechanic. Last week the blower stopped working completely. I made an appointment and dropped my vehicle off this week. Mark from MVA called me and from the moment I answered my phone he was very accusatory and said that someone else had messed with the part they installed. He said that their shop should be the ONLY shop that works on my vehicle. The only other people who work on my vehicle are my regular mechanics - who I called after talking to Mark to confirm that they hadn't messed with that specific part. They even offered to explain that to Mark, so I called MVA back and left a message. When I picked up my vehicle, the manager helped me. He did what most managers do, and defended his employee. He said that he looked at the issue himself, and said someone had to have disconnected/unplugged the wiring. I said AGAIN that it was working until last week, no one had messed with anything. My kid and I are the only people who have been in my truck since my last visit to MVA in May. The blower was working until last week. The manager said he was sitting next to Mark when he was talking with me and he disagreed with my recollection of what was said. The manager said "we record the calls" so I asked him to play the recording. Instead he gave me my key. When I got in my truck, there were a couple of things that I had in the front seat area that were thrown haphazardly in the back seat. The Driver's door "armrest cover" - the small piece that covers the door controls - was literally dangling from the door by the wires as though someone had slammed the door shut. Rather than go inside the shop again, I left. I'm done with them - unless something else happens with the parts they replaced and are covered under their warranty. Then maybe - MAYBE - I'll return to their shop if I can't get my truck to another NAPA shop. I'm incredibly disappointed. I believe that Mark was rude when he called me today, and I responded in kind. My advice to Mark: never accuse your customer of something, and never act like an arrogant jerk. If a customer gets angry, try to diffuse the situation. Don't escalate it. If you can't do that, then keep your face in the garage and stay off the phone. I'm starting to wonder if, aside from the ORIGINAL wiring issue, any of the subsequent work that MVA has performed was necessary. Did they do the original wiring correctly, or did they do something that caused that more expensive repair to be necessary? Did they install the right part to begin with? Did they even check the blower when they had my truck in May? I should have just made the longer drive to a more reputable shop that specializes in electrical work. read more

It's 2019 and WOMEN are still being ripped off by this place!!!! I took my 2011 Acura RDX here to get the AC fixed. I already had diagnosis and AC recharge done at Grease Monkey and they advised that the compressor and condenser would need to be replaced. Grease Monkey didn't even charge me anything to do this since they could not do the specialized AC work that was needed. I asked Mountain View for a quote for this exact work to be done. They would not give me one without doing their own diagnosis which was going to cost close to $200 before they would give me a quote. It's freaking hot out so I agreed to do this diagnosis in order to get a quote because I was desperate to get my AC back. They came back with a quote to close to $2000.00. I was expecting more like $1000.00. I told them to hold the work and let me call around. I looked on Repair Pal found a place with great reviews and called them for a quote. They quoted me $1210.00 without having to do a diagnosis and were using apples to apples (new parts and 3 year warranty). I waited to write this negative review until this new place I found actually did the work to make sure they didn't jack the price up. They did the work for the price they quoted me and gave me a 3 year warranty and used new parts just like Mountain View was quoting. Mountain View made me pay the almost $200 fee for the useless pointless diagnosis that Grease Monkey did for free. They are a huge disappointment and I guess I have learned my lesson to not get a rough quote prior to doing any work. I understand other things may pop up but come on they could have told me to do the compressor and condenser is this if anything else is found that will cost more. These guys saved my sanity, and my semester! The truck I live in was hit-and-run. I was intimidated about filing my first ever insurance claim, especially because I usually do my own auto work with friends and didn't have a relationship with a pro shop, but I wanted an inspection with the extra thoroughness that a pro shop provides. Mountain View was suggested to me, and I'm beyond grateful for it! Not only were these guys incredibly reassuring the first time I spoke with them, but they also were very patient about holding onto my truck while I dealt with the claims process. They advocated to my insurance adjuster on my behalf, identified (and clearly explained) safety-related repairs that I needed beyond what the accident caused, helped me cherry-pick which work I needed them to do versus things I could do myself later, and then went even more above and beyond with gracious pricing so that I could afford the necessary urgent work (which was done awesomely quickly once the plan was decided). Jeremy, the shop manager, was the first staff member I spoke at length with, and he's the exact kind of experienced gruff hardened tradesman that puts one at ease. My ongoing main point of contact was Nate, who is also wonderfully knowledgable and kind; both guys really made me feel certain that they were looking out for my best interests. Further, they showed sincere concern about my dogs and me being displaced, and genuine joy when I assured them that we'd been able to stay somewhere safe. Knowing my truck was in good hands (and that they were helping advocate about my claim) helped me be less stressed, which in turn helped me keep my semester grades up while the truck was dealt with. Took our truck in because the fuel pump wasn't working. Told us they were going charge us $100 for an initial diagnostic. Then it needed further diagnosing for another $200. They said we needed to replace the complete fuse box under the hood (TIPN) which was going to cost us another $2,000. Over the phone I was told that a diagnostic would be $100. When I brought the truck I was told it would be over $200 because the problem was "intermittent". I said that the problem was consistent if you let the vehicle sit. I figured that was fine because they would have to keep it overnight. The mechanic called me at 3:00 so they didn't have to keep it overnight to "reproduce the problem". The diagnostic was a new fuel pump that was 3 weeks out and was $900 for the part. The mechanic wanted to let me know right away because "we're honest here, and we like to do the right thing". The pump is under warranty so I didn't need the repair done there. When I picked up the truck I asked if the original $100 quote would be honored because they didn't have to "reproduce the problem" I was told that it was still $217 because the mechanic was "pretty thorough". Is he normally not thorough??? Out of curiosity I called a Toyota dealership to see how much the pump was and if they had it in stock... yes, it was 3-4 weeks out at the dealership but the OEM part from the dealership is only $600. I was actually able to find it online for $375... OEM part in stock. I am glad they are "honest" and like to "do the right thing". No wonder everyone tries to be a backyard mechanic... they are thieves! read more

So I wanted to get a quote for a fuel pump replacement on my altima. I have done some research on the part and they avg about 250-275. And labor is 2.5 hours for this job. These guys quote me 850...... ? Then tells me it's 500 for the part. Every other quote was in the 500 Range for the whole job. I don't know where the other 300 dollar is coming from. If you want to run an honost business don't tax the shit out of your customers and keep it honost. They were able to get my truck unannounced after hours (thanks to a blown alternator on the interstate and blind luck of this is where the tow truck towed me to) AND get it back to me the next day. Friendly, good price, and great work with an incredible warranty on the parts. I also believe they may have convinced me to get into their "system" where they notify me of a recommended service...take in my truck and let them deal with it. I went in there a while back for a fuel pump replacement and was told the fuel pump alone was 750.00 U.S ,than another 600.00 for labor,total 1,350.00 U.S.I got the same job done at B+D auto for 501.00 U.S. I also had them Install a master clutch cylinder that lasted a whole six weeks.I was so disgusted I went to a transmission specialist who changed the slave valve for 7.00 U.S plus labor. Y78035Mountain View comes across trustworthy and reputable at first glance because the customer service reps are friendly and the front office is clean and updated. BUT DON'T BE FOOLED! We were having trouble with our Jeep Grand Cherokee that the last place couldn't fix. So we sought out an auto repair place that has Jeep specialists to figure out the problem. The Mountain View websites claims to have Jeep specialists there. So we booked an appt and had them do a diagnostic. They called us the next day to say that they couldn't recreate the problem but that it must be the transmission because they found the trans fluid to be a bit milky looking so it must have a leak. They even took a photo of the fluid, so we could see for ourselves that indeed the trans fluid was milky, and recommended replacing the transmission completely. After they gave us a quote to do that of over $4k and saved the trans fluid overnight to show us in person (trying overly hard for us to believe them), we decided to get a second opinion through Aamco for free. We took it directly to Aamco, they didn't find anything wrong with the transmission and told us that there was nothing wrong with the trans fluid. It was clear. We have taken it to one other place and the dealership and they have all told us that the transmission fluid is just fine. Red and clear as you'd expect. So, bottom line is if Mountain View can't find the problem with your car, they're going to make something up so that they can get your business anyway. Not really sure how they can live with themselves knowing that they're ripping people off all the time! You think they're kind-hearted because they trick you with "WE SUPPORT LOCAL CHARITIES. Wish they had a zero stars rating. they also told me that they would likely have to pull the intake manifold and it would take 3 labor hrs and didn't tell me how much that was and I was afraid to ask.
