It's hard to miss the bright red "Public Market" sign on the large barn shaped building when traveling along I-5 through Kalama WA. It's just south of the McMenamins Kalama Harbor Lodge and just steps from the Columbia River. I made a mental note to check it out the next time I was in the area and was surprised to find that it wasn't yet listed in Yelp when I went to bookmark the business...a couple weeks later I stopped in and created the listing so others could find it. The business is brand spanking new which explains its absence from Yelp. A little research revealed that it is a unique small business incubator for those wishing to enter into the "bricks & mortar" experience. What a beautiful location for this, being just steps away from the scenic Columbia River. I love their approach of "locally sourced and passionately created goods" in their balanced mix of vendors, including: - Birrieria La Vaquita Food Truck Authentic Mexican Cuisine on Wheels - Bloom Cake Studio LLC Where Every Cake is a Work of Art - Bonny Blooms LLC Bringing Life to Spaces with Every Petal -DK Hewn From Kitchen to Grill: Craft Legendary Flavors - The Dot Shop Gallery Art that Speaks to the Soul - Flavors of ChaChee Food Truck Culinary Adventures for the Foodie in You - Parker Family Wine The Essence of the Pacific Northwest in Every Sip - Luckman Coffee Brewing Moments of Joy - Reece Luxury Photography Capturing Moments, Creating Memories - Upstream Ice Cream Churning Happiness One Scoop at a Time - Whimsy Chocolates Decadence in Every Bite I believe the Market is in the process of securing an anchor restaurant and there are a few remaining spots (as of this review) for vendors. Looking forward to returning and watching how this incubator creates new small business success stories.

A very nice place to be able to shop. They are pretty new to Kalamazoo, Wa. So I am sure they will plan on more shops coming in soon.

I love how there was plenty of seating all around - no accidentally bumping into someone else while walking around and exploring all the food options! There were hightops, larger tables for groups of 10+ people or for communal seating, and bar seating at some of the vendors too. The space can also be rented out for private parties, etc. The water stations were scattered thoughtfully around the dining areas so you don't need to go far for water or bussing your table. The bathrooms were reasonably clean as well (with a key code - ask at any vendor to get it). I would come back again to try more food - it's a welcoming space. I got Shanghai's Best and was too full to try Lil' Funky Donuts.

This visit, the selection was a bit limited and the wait times can be a bit long so if you're paying for parking, make sure to add a bit extra time to avoid rushing your meal. As for the food, I got the spicy garlic ramen with the keto noodles from MATSUNOKI RAMEN. Pretty sure not gluten free, so if you are a gf friend, not the place for you. If you can stand a bit of it, the soup really hit the spot and had a good heat to it. The noodles were not great, had become a ball. The meat in the soup was minimal and more friend bacon than what I'm used to in ramen. The serving size was pretty substantial. If you're in the area with a large group this could be a good place to go.

With a well seasoned meal, you can actually taste the care and passion in the food. It annoys me to go out to a restaurant, pay for food where I am expected to season it. Show me what your vision is! Unfortunately, the food quality hasn't kept up with the price point lately. My wife ordered the Bodega Egg & Cheese, and it was disappointing -- the cheese tasted like a basic Kraft single, which really took away from the experience, especially paired with a bagel that didn't elevate it at all. For the price, we expected something more thoughtful and higher quality. The space itself feels like it's still figuring out its identity. "Collective Market" suggests something cohesive, but inside it feels more like a collection of random items -- though to be fair, the wine bottle selection is solid. We love the vibe this place could have, and we really want to keep supporting it. We just hope to see more care and attention go into the food and overall direction -- especially considering how great their sister location, Decadent Creations Bakery, is.

While hubs stayed in the hotel room, my daughter, my mom and I had a blast. Especially those two who sampled a ton of bite-size snacks and things. What's happening indoors? Totally different story. The three of us weren't even sure where to start the feast- but we knew we were in luck. From the moistest Chocolate+Toffee cookies, to El Barro's Mexican tropical fruit empanadas to Imo Madoi's Japanese veggie snacks down to chili oil+cream cheese¯\_(ツ)_/¯at another indoor kiosk, everything was tasty. Survey says: Dig in! The indoor space is pretty big and so is the upstairs with several rooms full of Sake retail, candles also on sale and to ease your mind a bit, a back room hooked to the nines with a Hawaiian theme and lights off as Blue Hawaii played on screen. SnackFest is $0 to enter, but you do have to show ID and get braceleted (is that a word?) if you want to enjoy cocktails indoors. The Imo Madoi Japanese snacks were godsent for our 5+1/2 hour direct NYC flight. Even if you were buying which we did, this snack, as well as other tidbits we purchased were some of the tastiest- not to mention, cheapest. By the way- the vendors are all awesome and take the time to explain their product in detail. What a great festival this is.

Don't get me wrong, but masks are still encouraged.  But let's FORGET about that and 2020 all together.  I'm here to talk about what's goin' on in Slabtown! The Slabtown Outdoor Market has opened up!  And thus far, per their website, the market will be held on the Second Sunday of each month starting: ~ July 11th, August 8th, and Sept 12th. ~ Assuming the following months are TBD. Hours:  11am - 6pm As for walking around and checking out the vendors, I've seen everything from artwork, to beer, clothing, from healing to ice cream and soaps, and even fresh veggies and vegan creations.  I counted at least 30 different vendors and SAMPLES!  YES, some of them had samples.  Its good supporting locals and trying out their products.  Honestly, I wish there were more farmers. I mean, it is a market, but I guess it's not a "farmer's market".   I gotta add that I was most impressed with someone selling cast iron grills; I mean wow, who would've expect this tent. As well as the Nova Rose Knots lady and her macrame items, very creative.  We found new flavor drinks from the GT's Synergy Kombucha Co, and the girl helping us was awesome. I enjoyed Breakside Brewery and a couple of their refreshing brews.  Fifty Licks had some tasty ice cream, and the Cold Brew Coffee crew were fun to chat with.  Most of the vendors seemed pretty upbeat and ready to serve.  Its gotta be this lovely Portland weather as of recent.  Unfortunately I really hate to add this, but there was a lack of trash cans. I was gonna reduce a star, but I'm sure that'll be addressed. Or else the end result will be trash everywhere. Hope the organizers take note of this. Regardless, check out this little market while you can!

A great time! The market takes up most of the midtown parking lot on Gower St and only runs from June through September. I grabbed a small carton of Oregon cherries and they were so fresh and flavorful. I also grabbed some lunch at the Roast Town BBQ tent and they had the BEST crab cakes I've ever had! I also had a shrimp roll which was delicious. Live music was being performed by the Bar K Buckeroos and really set a fun, western-swing type vibe - they drew quite a crowd as well. Overall the market was jovial and everyone was friendly and having a great time. Some vendors take credit card, some cash only so plan ahead. Parking in Cannon Beach is limited as it is, and since this market is in one of the main public lots the parking situation is even more challenging - but the town is very walkable with several other public lots within walking distance. I enjoyed my visit and feel lucky I got to check out this great local market!
