I like to read the reviews before I visit the business and I like to use small businesses and local businesses whenever possible. My travels today brought me through Brian Head Utah and I found a little coffee shop that had a bunch of one star and five star reviews? Google Maps said they opened at 7:30 and it was 6:45 in the morning and I could have been at a Starbucks down the hill in about 20 minutes but I decided to wait and get a little local flavor. Looking back now I realize that most of the one-star reviews deal with the attitude of the employees which I was able to experience? I have some disabilities and I have to use my service animal to be able to climb up stairs. So it can be a little tiring and it takes me a little while and you have to be able to climb two sets of steps as there is no handicap ramp. So I parked out front and at about 7:35 A car pulled up with two women in it. They got out and proceeded to go into the coffee shop that was not open yet? I waited about 10 minutes and then I got out and crossed the street and climb the steps which took me at 4 or 5 minutes only to meet one of the women that went in actually coming out and making sure the little sign that said they were closed was positioned properly for me to see because I am sure she did not see my difficulty climbing the steps. When I asked if they were open because Google Maps says they open at 7:30 she looked at me funny and said as she pointed to a small little sign in the window that you have no chance of seeing from the street she told me if I had noticed that it told me they opened at 8:00 not 7:30. When I pointed out that Google Maps said they opened at 7:30 she gave me a funny look said she doesn't know why they said that that they had new owners that came in around April 1st and that may have caused it. When I pointed out that all they had to do was simply go on Google Maps and change it she seemed to think that was much more complicated than people just calling to verify the hours? So I walked around out on the little deck until it was about 8:05 and then I walked back by the coffee shop with my dog in tow or with me and towed by my dog, and since she had clearly pointed it out to me that I was welcome to wait out front until they open, personally if I saw a handicapped man standing there that needed a dog to come up the stairs I probably would have offered him a seat inside especially if he didn't seem to mind that our hours weren't advertised correctly. So I proceeded to go back down the stairs with my dog which takes me again about 4 or 5 minutes and I walked over across the street to my car and I got into my car. And now I will drive 20 minutes to Starbucks and spend money for something I would rather have bought here and it would have also given me the ability to try some of the food. So it is obvious that your experience here will depend entirely on whether you have to deal with the staff or you just get served what you came for and get to enjoy it. I should also point out that I made my living turning around automobile dealerships that were underperforming and the first thing I did was make sure that everybody treated every customer just like they were your grandma! It's called customer service for a reason. Or you can be a food delivery and just hand the people the food without trying to make their day better, but the last thing you want to do is make their interaction with you something that leaves a bad taste in their mouth especially if you make your living on appeasing people's taste read more

My husband and I were in town visiting. This was the only place around for a coffee. We were waiting outside the door when they opened at 8 am. We ordered 2 small coffees and 2 croissant breakfast sandwiches. Both were adequate but the prices were outrageous...$30 total. A small coffee was $5.61! read more

Visited here today, and this place sure holds up to the high ratings it's received on Yelp. I had the Italian Sub, and it was really, really good. the meats were all so fresh (not processed meat tasting), the olives inside were great, and the tomatoes and purple onion were yummy too. It came with chips and a crispy pickle :) My teen son had the hot dog, and since he thinks he knows hot dogs....I waited for a complaint. Nope. Not one. He even told me to take a bite, to see how great it was!!! He never shares food! Haha The shop's owner is sweet and friendly too. Might have to eat here again tomorrow before we head out of town. It's a really nice small cafe, with one worker. She's great. It can get a little crowded and wait will be long if you follow a big group. Loved their hazelnut latte coffee. We came back the next day. We grabbed some breakfast croissant and bagels also. Good food! This will be our breakfast hang out while up in Brian Head. read more

Literally the best coffee! Stopped by one morning when I realized I had forgot to pack mine, and the Caramel Blondie was so good. They also offer a ton of non-dairy milk options! The large size is huge. Already planning a trip back to Brian Head just so I can stop here again. read more

Nice location central to Brianhead. Without a lot of other competing options it's a good choice. Had the croissant sandwich which was average but the get a little extra credit since it was one of the few places open and service was good. read more

Got our orders wrong and sandwiches were just okay. I ordered the daybreaker turkey. It was missing the cranberries, the whole reason I chose that sandwich. My hubby ordered the chicken salad which was supposed to come on a croissant. Instead it was served on dry white bread. My son got the pb and j, again dry white bread and they forgot the cookies the kids meal is supposed to come with. Luckily we realized it before getting in the car. He took one bite and we threw the rest away. We were going to grab breakfast there the next morning but after that experience, we did not. read more

This place looks so cute, but service was mediocre. We went there two months ago in March 2021.We arrived shortly after opening and wanted to pick up some sandwiches before our ski lessons. there was only one person ahead of me. I had my two kids with me we ordered 4 turkey sandwiches it took over 45 min to make a simple sandwich in which I could have made in 5 min at home, not to mention it was disgusting. We've been visiting Brian Head for years. I understand that there are limited choices in Brian Head, BUT... bad attitude employees, wrong orders, stupid expensive - three breakfast sandwiches (2 incorrect, only one fixed, they added unwanted egg at extra charge, yay for them!), one serving of (inedible, according to a teenager who eats everything) pancakes, two coffees, one smoothie, and an herbal tea - $75!!!! Really???? I live in San Diego, I'm used to expensive, but I guess these guys are happy to take advantage of a captive clientele. Oh, and definitely don't ask for a lunch sandwich before noon. There isn't any signage to warn you, but apparently they don't know how to use sliced bread before noon. This isn't our first visit to the cafe, but definitely the same experience. This cafe does NOT open at 9am. Sign says 9:30. Finally someone shows up to open and tells us to keep waiting since she needs to set up so about 9:45 we're able to order and the worst service ever. Attitude that she didn't care - and on top of it people were coming up all morning to come in but she is the only one making coffees and food so it took forever. Poor business. Poor service. The ladies were pleasant and the fresh, homemade clam chowder was excellent. The deli sandwiches looked good but I did not try one.

If you're in the area, this is definitely worth a stop!! We had breakfast sandwiches (fresh and hot and made to order), plus yummy coffee drinks. The server was very friendly and our order came out promptly. I highly recommend this cute little cafe. read more

We found this gem this weekend! We have been coming to the mountain for 20+ years and the Mountain Peak Cafe is a great addition. The coffee was fantastic and the breakfast sandwich hit the spot. Second day in a row coming in. Sandwiches are made to order, we had 3 daybreak turkey sandwiches. 2 PB&J's, the best pumpkin chai latte, we had tea, peppermint hot chocolate, candy cane mocha. For being the only cafe in Brian head this place is horrible. It took them 40 minutes to make a roast beef sandwich that is comparable to a gas station premade sandwich. They said it would take longer to be heated and it was cold. Seriously can't stress how bad it was. read more

I hate to be that guy and give a 1 star review but it was pretty brutal. The lady running the shop, maybe the manager at the time was very sweet but they had no clue what they were doing in there. 45 minutes for a very sub par simple croissant sandwich when there were only 2 people in front of us waiting for their coffees. The crazy thing is that there were 4 employees working at the same time and they still couldn't get anything done. They were also having conversations about being "slow right now" and "my old job was much faster pace than this". We witnessed 3 different parties walk out of the shop because they didn't want to wait in the 25 minute line that they were told yet the only thing they had to make were 5 breakfast sandwiches and a few forgotten black coffees. We ordered two sandwiches. One sandwich still had the paper on the cheese. The bread was stale and fell apart into pieces when we took our first bite. The staff was not warm and did not ask us questions or clarify any menu items. We spent $40 on two coffees and a sandwich with a soup. We never even got the soup. The food was so bad we didn't even ask for the soup after we had finished eating what we could. Horrible food. It takes a lot for me to leave a poor review. I also live in a tourist town (that gets exponentially more visitors the entire 12 months/year), and I also worked in a coffee shop in that tourist town. I understand that holiday weekends can be challenging in customer service, but the employees could at least pretend to sort of give a crap when someone walks in to patronize their shop. The young guy who was ringing people up was almost non-communicative, and when someone asked a question, he would just point sardonically at the menu item that might answer the question. There was no one in front of me, and it took almost 15 minutes to get an Italian sofa (ordered with no frills). I don't so much care about how much time it took to get my drink, but the manager (supervisor? Owner?) made it quite clear from the back room that they were closing within 15 minutes of my walking in the door. None of this is life or death; I just don't understand the clear disdain of customers in a customer-service-oriented business. Hope it's not like this on a regular basis. read more

This place has a lot of promise. Great location, solid menu, and one of the only places to eat in town. Unfortunately, the staff was super unfriendly when we visited this morning. When my wife asked a question about which of their drinks would be good for our kids and the the waitstaff just stared at her, almost offended to be asked a question. Five stars for Mountain Peak Coffee and Cafe!! A big thank you to Andrea and Angee for making us a delicious lunch! The mouth watering chili was a perfect treat, as we sat on the cute covered porch, while it rained. Also, the sandwiches were made fresh, were filling and delicious! I got the roast beef sandwich and my girlfriend got the veggie, both were pretty underwhelming given the price. I was expecting quality but could have easily made both sandwiches at home. Probably should have and saved $25. Also, the menu on yelp isn't updated. Ehh I wouldn't come back. read more
