I had a very disappointing experience at Mountain Mike's Pizza in El Cerrito. I arrived to pick up my order, but it wasn't ready even though I was told it would be. The employee was still making my pizza after I got there, which meant I had to wait longer than expected. During that time, I observed an employee touch his nose while preparing food, which I found unsanitary and concerning. It made me uncomfortable about the food handling practices at this location. Because of the delay and what I witnessed, I won't be returning. I hope management addresses both the food safety concerns and the order timing. read more

Bro wanted pizza so we checked out Yelp. Never had Mountain Mike's which was close to home. He wax enthusiastic so we ordered medium Everest. It wax loaded and very good! I was there a bit earlier so the place was clean with two tv screens with the 49ers vs the Browns. I got the pizza and the cashier was very cordial and the pizza wax hot. The cashier gave me packets of cheese and chili. The salad bar looked fresh . I will likely go back. The pizza was delicious! read more

The delivery driver who had just delivered pizza from this exact pizza place location, to my best friend's house in Richmond a couple days ago, was very rude, and didn't let my friend sign a reciept, and get a customer copy. Very unacceptable! Don't be going to people's address with some kind of punka** attitude about the front gate, or gate code not working, acting like as if they're responsible to fix the gate. Who does that delivery driver think he is? If there's a problem with the front gate, or gate code of a condo, or apartment. You respectfully with at least some sort of common sense, let the resident know, or if possible, go to the manager's office (if and when someone is there) which the manager can contact maintenance, rather than you come busting out your car with a stupid attitude about it. It's not my friend's responsibility to fix the gate, so informing the manager's office is a better option. The staff here are not stingy about their toppings, there are usually vegetables and meat falling off of my slice when lifting it up from the box. The crust is crisp, and everything is cooked evenly. My regular selections are Pikes Peak and Pineapple Chicken Luau, they definitely satisfy my pizza cravings! A buffet option is available in-person; however, I have never went there and sat down for this because I don't think I can eat enough slices to warrant the cost. An additional factor was that the physical space was not temperature controlled whenever I picked up pizza during the summer; it would be pretty hot and humid there. Came in a week before we wanted to have a party for our basketball team so we could book the little party room. We spoke to the gentleman at the register at reserved the room. At the time of the reservation we told the gentleman that we would be doing the buffet for the eight kids and would be ordering a few large pizzas and drinks for the adults he said that was fine and that he would probably be working that night. On the party night we came in a little early to add some decor to the room. After we set up i went over to the register to ask if they would be cooking more pizzas as there one only one half under the warmer. She said as there were not that many people they didn't make more so I told her had eight hungry teens coming so could they please make more soon. I told her that we were going to order the buffets for the kids and some large pizzas for the adults and she said that we could not do that we had to order buffets for everyone in the party or the individual pizzas. We were taken aback as it ended up costing us a lot more than we had anticipated and i felt like we had been mislead as we specifically asked if we could do that when we booked. Aside from that the food and service was good. Salad bar was fresh. They did make more pizzas and even asked us which ones we would like. So we have no complaints about the food or service. I needed pizza for a large group and I was running late to the party and everyone was hungry. Since I was running late, my friends hosting called me after i had ordered 4 "mountains" that half the people left. I called and asked to cancel 2 of the pizzas (5 min after placing the order) and it was no problem for them. I was amazed! I ended up getting 2 "mountain" size pizzas which feeds 7-8 people each!! Typically a regular large is good for 4 people, so this was awesome I could get just 2 pizzas and have the group fed. The pizzas were massive. 15 people and we had some left over. The pepperoni went really fast. The pepperonis were so delicious, the way they curled up into cups and had just the right crispiness and flavor to them. Okay, okay I'm a Mountain Mike's fan. They are popping up all over the place and recently in my neighborhood. I have ordered twice now, once on Halloween and last night. Both arrived either on time or last night, before the estimated delivery time. My guy loves his pizza simple and I like spicy, so we compromised and I ordered half jalapenos on our sausage and cheese pizza. With online ordering you can specify exactly what you want and where. Want two completely different pizzas? You can do that. We ordered a regular crust the first time and a thin crust last night and I prefer the thin now because it was cooked perfectly. First off, the overall delivery experience should be 4 stars because the delivery was about 10-20 minutes late both times I ordered, but I have no idea what caused it and I didn't bother asking why, so I didn't want to dock points against the restaurant (instead of the driver) for it. I've ordered delivery twice from this place and both times the food was great. It's pretty greasy, but not disgustingly-so, so it mostly just ends up being great comfort food. I also appreciate how they pile on the toppings but somehow nothing gets undercooked; it's all great! The wings I got were also great; they weren't dry and had a good amount of sauce on them. Finally, they package their deliveries fairly well. They provide all the condiments you could ever need, along with a container of garlic sauce, in a neat plastic bag (not just flying around everywhere in the delivery bag). Overall, if you want some great delivery, this place is pretty solid (modulo the delayed deliveries mentioned above). read more

My family and I have been been doing dine-in or delivery from this location every two weeks for past few years. When we eat in the restaurant the staff is always very accommodating of my kids and will show cartoons on one of the TVs. We usually get a pepperoni pizza and I love how crispy the thin little pepperonis get. The draft beer is a great deal. We've also had the wings which were pretty tasty. The prices are reasonable and there is usually a promotional coupon on the website. I'm giving a five star review today because MM went above and beyond for my daughter's birthday. When I spend almost $40 for Pizza, no one better call me and have the AUDACITY to insinuate that I should come to your car and get it. Ordered the Everest online and did a pick up in store. They called me around 20-25 mins later saying that my order was ready for pick up. Went in got my pizza, Large Everest for $23. Not too bad. The pizza itself looked great. The ingredients looked fresh and smelled terrific. My only complaint was the crust/dough was a bit tough... not chewy at all like I'm used to. Not sure if it was over cooked but it was strange. Not a deal breaker at all, but would've been much better if it was a bit softer. I actually enjoyed the leftovers the second day after tossing it in the microwave as the dough softened up and tasted better! So.....decided Pizza would be good for the 2 of us for dinner. New Mountain Mike's not too far away. I don't usually eat pizza much because it's so hard to find something decent. Haven't had Mountain Mike's Pizza since the early eighties so I thought I'd give it a try. I tried to call ahead first however the young man who answered the phone seemed to have a problem with spelling common words. I decided to go in and order myself. I got there just after 6 p.m. and the place was fairly busy. They have an all-you-can-eat pizza/salad buffet, which appeared to be what most of the customers were eating. I ordered a large McKinley, 6 honey barbecue chicken wings and 2 salads to go. The salad comes from the salad bar so I made them myself. Typical salad bar but no place to put your plate or container while you work. Hence ingredients were kinda cross contaminated. 2 out of 5 stars. The salad was the best thing I got for my $40. Got my food in 20 minutes, was home in less than 10. WINGS: Frozen generic seasoned wings that they throw into the oven and sauce. Mine? Mushy with no sauce on them. Did they forget? Less than 1 star. PIZZA: Already cold and soggy. 1 inch thick. Meaning 1/2 in of thick bready frozen dough with that Pillsbury biscuit flavor. 1/4 in of canned tomato sauce/catsup. The rest was the skimpy toppings. Very little meat, no onions and 2 cups of refrigerator cold diced tomatoes. All together a great thing for 6 year olds (sans tomatoes of course). Truly the worst pizza I've had in my entire life. Maybe they'll get better. I'll give them another try. In about 2046 AD. Until then, save your money. Oops forgot to mention.
